That's not a ratchet shifter, that is a Hurst vertical gate shifter. Looks great sounds great. I've had a 64 Barracuda in my life since Mom and Dad brought hers home in April 1964. My brother owns it now. White with a red interior, 273 pushbutton auto, ps pb dealer installed hang on a/c.

That shifter does nothing the original could not. But it's stiff ugly and detracts from the interior
The stock Mopar 4 speed shifter was not nearly as positive as the Hurst vertical gate shifter. Especially when you were REALLY banging gears.

That clicking is a Mechanical tachometer from the mid 1960's. It is the sound they make when they are working.
