The rhythm guitarist is Joan Jett, who I know y'all have heard of. Lead guitar is Lita Ford, who also had a good 80's career. (Check out her duet with Ozzy Osborne) Singer Cheri Curry did a movie or two (one with Jodie Foster) and retired from show biz I believe.

I was a youngster in my twenties in the seventies and loved The Runaways from the first time I heard them! Joan Jett and Sandy west formed the band and Lita Ford was recruited to be the lead guitar. There were several bass players during their time together. The band drifted apart, being pulled in different directions musically and Joan decided to disband the band, not wanting to get fired from the band she started. Joan went on to create Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and is still touring today, although with only two of the original members still in the band. Lita Ford went on to be one of the most revered female guitarists in music and has several hits to her name, "Close My Eyes Forever" with Ozzy Osborne is probably the most well known. Joan is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the other members of The Blackhearts, and is known for hits like "I Love Rock n Roll", and "Do You Want To Touch Me" and others. For The Runaways songs, try "Saturday Night Special" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and "Black Leather". The Runaways were the first successful all female band to "make it" in rock music, btw.

Along with Joan and Lita, Cheri Currie the vocalist had a career after The Runaways with her twin sister Marie Currie, had a hit with "Since you been gone". Cheri, also did some acting, she was in the movie "Foxes" with Jody Foster, and Scott Baio.

They were my youth crush. I was so in love with them. They toured Sweden in 1978 and I saw them in a small place called Östervåla. Before the show they were sitting in the dressing room and that was in the back of the stage (a small outside venue). Me and my friend saw that the dressing room window was open, so I climbed onto the fence that enclosed the basement stairs below the window. When I reached the window, I stuck my head inside and saw them all in the dressing room. Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Sandy West and Vicky Blue was all there, and I just said, "Hi all". Joan Jett then came to the window and caressed my cheek while she kindly said, "Sorry boy", gently pushed my face out the window and closed it.
A memory for life for a 15-year-old boy!

Wendy O’ Williams was the singer of a band called The Plasmatics. She later put out a solo album, WOW! I saw the Plasmatics with Wendy in 1983 in El Paso, Texas. They opened for KISS. It was KISS’s 10th anniversary tour. It was pretty crazy. I was right up front and as you can see in this video, Wendy smashed a TV with a sledgehammer and threw it into the crowd. A young beautiful lady in front of me got cut from some glass from the TV and had to leave. I never saw her again. 🥲😂 Anyway, Wendy also cut a guitar up with a chainsaw and threw it into the crowd. Sadly, Wendy took her own life at the age of 48 in 1998. Below is a link to her song, “It’s My Life” by the Plasmatics. She left a really touching note at the time of her death. She had a good heart. If you don’t want to react to it, just enjoy the song for Wendy. It’s a really good song. She was a more mature version of the Runaways girls. 🫢

This song played in both the "The Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Dazed and Confused" and the tv movie "Dawn Portrait of a Teenage Runaway" starring the Brady Bunches Eve Plumb, in 1976.
The Rhythm guitarist Joan Jett went on to record this with her Group "Joan Jett and the Blackhearts".
And I believe that the lead singer Cherie Currie was 16 years old when this video was made.

After the band broke up, both Joan Jett and Lita Ford had very successful careers. In 2010, there was Hollywood movie made called 'The Runaways' starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as the singer, Cherie Currie. I highly recommend this movie. 👍👍

So 3 months ago you reacted to Joan Jett & the Blackhearts "I Love Rock n Roll" and a month later you guys reacted to Lita Ford "Shot of Poison". The Runaways is where they both got their start. The 2 guitarists are Joan Jett (black hair) and Lita Ford (blonde). The singer is Cherie Currie, she is 16 years old here, Joan & Lita were 17. They were labeled "jailbait rock" back then. THAT'S what makes it most scandalous, is a 16 year old in black underwear, a corset and fish nets lol. Cherie was the only one at that time that didn't play an instrument so she saw the corset in a lingerie store, bought it and put it on to perform Cherry Bomb, she loved it, the other girls HATED IT! Joan Jett wrote the song when Cherie auditioned for the band because the song Cherie wanted to sing the girls weren't happy with so Joan wrote the song w/ their manager Kim Fowley on the spot. A play on Cherie's name and the fact they were all teenage firecrackers. While it became their most known song (and yes it was in Guardians of the Galaxy) it certainly isn't their best, it was on their debut album in 1976. In 1977 they released "Queens of Noise" which would be the last studio recording w/ Cherie. During their 1977 tour in Japan Cherie quit the band. Later that year Joan Jett became the lead singer and released their BEST album "Waiting For the Night" where Joan wrote most of the songs and Lita Ford wrote a few as well. They released one more studio album in 1978 and the band eventually broke up in Spring of 1979 w/ Joan Jett wanting to go in a more punk direction and Lita Ford and drummer Sandy West wanting to go in a more heavy metal direction. Both Joan and Lita went on to successful careers. (I have 2 Joan Jett songs scheduled for July as well on Buy me a Coffee)

Yes,as others are mentioning here this was Joan Jett's band. I saw them a couple of time at a club called "The Starwood" in LA around 1976. I was in my early twenties at the time. The Runaways were performing at the age of 17, 18. Their producer was a bit of a perv and that was the commercial appeal. They were not that good back then. My college roommates would make fun of me for showing an interest. The joke was on them a bit because Joan Jett became JOAN JETT. And Lita Ford became LITA FORD. Both careers are now part of Classic Rock American History.

Yes I like the “blind” reactions best. Some reaction channels read through the lyrics, and research the entire song and its meaning, etc. At that point it’s not really a TRUE first time reaction. It not only ruins for me but I would think that it ruins it for the reactors.

Cherry Vanilla??? Do you mean singer Cherie Currie???
The drummer is Sandy West and the bassist in the video is Jackie Fox (though she didn't play on the debut album) and she was the 3rd bassist after Mickey Steele (who later was in the Bangles) and Peggy Foster.
After Jackie Fox and Cherie Currie quit in 1977 Vickie Blue became the 4th bassist and in 1978 Laurie McCallister became the 5th bassist. By Spring of 1979 it was only Joan Jett, Lita Ford and Sandy West left so they parted ways

They were definitely pioneers in the breakout of women in rock. They were contrived and exploited by a controlling manager/producer. Sans the drummer that succumbed to alcoholism, they all went on to have successful lives. Joan Jett and Lita Ford still have musical careers today. Although an LA product, they were perfect for whole east coast punks scene happening at CBGBs. New York Dolls, Blondie, Kiss, Iggy Pop etc.

Great point you are making about female rock/guitarists, musicians. The Go Gos and The Bangles came after this. And today we can enjoy many more female artists because of their work. Heart is the only other band I can think of and that was co-ed like Fleetwood Mac, so yes, the Runaways not really appreciated for the historical context. Mostly known as Joan Jett's launch pad of sorts. And Lita Ford went on to be a major guitarist in the Heavy Metal genre. She is not to be messed with.
