If you're looking for an awesome weekend cruiser, your classic has arrived! This 1953 Bel Air is a retro-cool show stopper that's fully documented from its original Bill of Sale all the way to extensive restoration photos.
    BODYWORK/TRIM
Owned by one family for roughly 59 years, this super clean Chevy is the beneficiary of a 15-year nut-and-bolt restoration that wrapped in November of 2012. When that frame-off rebuild began, the car had logged only 20K miles in the hands of one fastidious owner. And presently, it's traveled only 390 weekend miles since rolling out of the paint booth. Repose Horizon Blue and Pure White 2-stage combine with restored chrome and polished stainless to provide serious, retro character. And that pigment highlights a distinctive, pontoon-style body, which reminds us just how cool vintage metal can be!
    ENGINE
Fully rebuilt and completely sorted, this sedan's correct, 235 cubic inch Thrift-King 6-cylinder wears a '53-exclusive 3701946 casting number under a '53-exclusive LAA assembly stamp. At the top of the traditionally blue mill, a stamped steel valve cover provides excellent contrast to a glossy oil bath air filter. Below that filter, a small Rochester carburetor feeds a correct intake that's siamesed with a correct exhaust manifold. Opposite that manifold, a traditional points distributor sequences spark to six plugs via six high quality wires. In front of those wires, a reproduction battery complements a tagged Delco-Remy generator. And from its beefy radiator and simple squeeze clamps to its old school fuel bowl and bright, FRAM-branded oil filter, this Chevy conveys a clean, factory-spec appearance.
    DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Take a look under this vintage bowtie and you'll see just how much the automotive world has changed when it comes to ride, handling and structural integrity. An over-restored frame, Horizon Blue floors and a fully rebuilt suspension highlight the car's extensive freshening. Behind the Thrift-King, a tough 3-speed transmission makes good use of road-ready gears. In front of that drivetrain, a fully independent suspension remains just as it looked back in 1953. And the same holds true behind that drivetrain, where heavy duty leaf springs and a solid axle maintain ride height and add ample grip. 4-wheel drum brakes bring everything to a stop. There's a correct, single-pipe exhaust system, which utilizes a mid-mount turbo muffler to give the 6-cylinder a nice rumble. And everything rolls on color-keyed steelies, which spin fresh 205/75R15 Toyo Extensa whitewalls around full Chevrolet covers.
    INTERIOR
The car's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of boomtown, America, complete with tight vinyl, tasteful fabrics and awesome Art Deco gauges. The Light Blue and Medium Blue cockpit is centered on big, heavily bolstered seats that feel soft enough to take a nap on. At the front of the car, a stylish and purposeful dash frames attractive, stainless-trimmed telemetry. And in front of the driver, a 2-tone, aircraft-inspired steering wheel laps a familiar Chevrolet crest.
If you're looking for something a little different than a run-of-the-mill Chevy, this awesome Bel Air is a fantastic choice. Call, click or visit RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more information.

This 1953 Chevy Bel Air is gorgeous, brings back memories of a gentler and simpler time. Well preserved and nicely detailed. Wonder if powertrain was rebuilt. Notice some chugging when it idles. Still nice work & collectible.

Sorry but you are wrong! 1953 Chevys with manual transmissions had 235 engines! They had the old splash ba netted bearings but they were 235's and NOT 216's. If they had Powerglide THEN they had the 225's with full pressure lubrication! I know what I'm talking about!

Craig Jorg WRONG !!!! You are trying to Bullshit a man that had way too much time inside a 216 cu in out of a 53 Belair HT !!!!! Before I learned the only thing a 216 was good for was scrap iron !!!!

Wilbur Finnigan No Finnigan. I'm not the only one who has told you this and you are WRONG! If you tear into one of those 235's that came in 1953 stick shifts, it will LOOK like a 216 but they are not. You don't know your Chevys as well as you think you do do do your reading and come back and admit you were wrong! Also 216's are not junk. They don't like to be driven at high RPMS and they don't like being run low on oil. Driven moderately they can last a long time. Study up! You are looking foolish here!

@@craigjorgensen4637 NOPE !!!! When you are buying parts for them you gotta have the right info !!! Especially pistons !!!! DUUUUHHH!!!!!!! Nothing I have ever read with any credibility has said the stick shift 53 chev was a 235 !!! They all say 216 !!!! Look up the history of the stove bolt 6 and read the history !!!! 53 was the last rear a 216 was used and that the stick shift only !!! SORRY you are full of shit !!!

Wilbur Finnigan I’m shocked that someone hasn’t jumped in to post a link to prove Finnegan DEAD WRONG! 1953 was a year of change and the LAST year of babbet bearings ind splash lubrication in ALL of the 235’s they produced. The Powerglides got full pressure lubrication. By the next year they all had it. Finnegan, find a stick shift 1953 and look at the oil pressure gauge. It only go’s to 30 pounds. Now find a Powerglide 1953 and the oil pressure gauge will go to 60 pounds! THAT should tell you something! It is YOU that is the misinformed A-hole! I’m sure at this point you will never admit that you are DEAD WRONG!

Bottom line ALL 1953 Chevys had 235 engines! So did Powerglide equipped 1950-1952’s. They had splash lubrication!
