This helps me read and understand the Bible more! I feel like it brings me closer to God. Its helped me to see more of the tapestry that is the Word. Thank you. Dr. Heiser has helped take my Bible reading to a new level. I find it to be faith strengthening. 🎉

I look forward to watching this. But before I forget: It's an interesting topic, sure. But people love to get obsessed with it. They end up spending all their time on this instead of the actual inspired Word. People love having special knowledge that others don't have. "Bible? That's boring. You can find books and sermons and podcasts and videos about that everywhere. This is super sekrit information that has been intentionally hidden from us!" It basically turns into the childish taunt, "Nah, nah! I know something you don't know!" Some people even end up turning on Christianity, entirely, because they feel they were denied this information on purpose. People go nuts over it.

I agree with you. There needs to be a hierarchy and framework for how we approach information in our lives. Scripture is first and supreme.
There is indeed a temptation to whatever is new, different, or other. Being consistent with what is sure and solid can be challenging. I hope that people engage with and live out the truth and the power of the Gospel in our lives. Some of Paul's teachings come to mind, especially 1 Timothy 1:3-11.
Bottom line, I think most Christians don't need to read this book or even know about it. However, I think that we need some Christians to be aware of this book and its overall message since this book is quoted in the book of Jude, alluded to elsewhere in Scripture, and some of the early church fathers found this story important. I think we also need some Christians who actually read the book to have a thorough understanding of it to teach it well in settings and times that are fitting.
I would love to hear your thoughts after you watch the video. Thank you for the thoughtful and important comment.
