Baie dankie, dit bring goeie herinneringe. My oom was 'n trein drywer, Renier de Beer (Polla). Ek was altyd so trots op hom. Sy roete was vanaf Jhb na Klerksdorp en Kroonstad. Hy is in 2006 oorlede nadat 'n dronk bestuurder in hom vas gejaag het. Ek is mal oor lokomotiewe, my gunsteling, die Garrett. Ek was getroud met Corrie (Coke) Botha, wat 'n assistent trein bestuurder in Germiston was. Hy is in 2000 oorlede na 'n hartaanval. Hy en my oom het op 'stadium ook saam gewerk.

It would have made more sense to keep it as a back up. There were never as much issues with the trains as there is now.
