If you live in the Greater Cincinnati area, when someone says "Erlanger, Kentucky", the term "historic" probably doesn't pop into your head. However back in March, we were given the opportunity to interview Paul Dusing with the Erlanger/Elsmere Historical Society on the history of Erlanger. Paul gave us the history on the railroads, the interesting story behind the schools, why the library is one of the busiest in the state, describes the beautiful homes on tree lined streets and covers the long time businesses that are the cornerstone of Erlanger.

Loved listening to this! Many of my students are from Erlanger so they would appreciate learning about some of the events shown here in US History, particularly through desegregation. I’d love to know more about the transcription of Erlanger public opinion between the Civil War and eventual desegregation.

Sounds like the area was a lot more fun in the 1910’s and 20’s. Imagine a bunch of people just coming together to dance and sing here.

I have fond memories of Erlanger: lived there twice. 1951 while my Father was in Korea during the war, 1954-55 when he was stationed in Iceland where we could not go. My Grandparents had a farm on what is now a no-mans-land where the Interstates cross. It was lovely in the 50's. I attended Locust Street School, which is gone. One memory while I was living in Erlanger: there was a major plane crash--midair collision one day when I was in 1st grade.
