Thats a great review Ethan thanks for making it and i just subbed. I just bought one and tried it out today and first impressions leave me very impressed. I will be taking it out on wild camps during the winter months using it as part of my Torso layering system which will consist of Base layer Senchi Hoodie Mid layer Montbell Plasma 1000 fill then the Mythic Alpine and if needed i will top it with my Rab Phantom Smock.......this will comfortably see me down to minus 10c UK climate ATB Pal.
In fill weight (140g) this seems a replacement for the Continuum (my favourite) which is amazing bang for weight warmth. The old draw cord hood and wired peak may have suited you better. Price is absolutely killler
Just ordered this jacket in womens on clearance. Will not pay 3x more for Arcteryx ever again. I like one way zips - they are easier to start. Perhaps in future mention your size, and the fit over layers .
Hey, Ethan, how does the jacket fit? Most Rab stuff is really slim or long, but the Mythic line looks like it's taylor for an athletic fit. Is there a lot of room across the shoulder and chest?
@@ethanlucas975 thanks Ethan, that's good to hear. I think it might actually fit me. Doing more research, they also just released a mythic G, a newer version of the zero G. It also looks amazing.
@@thdjjfsfh that new mythic does look amazing - I am happy with this one though - I think the main differences are the down FP and reflective lining :)
Hey, nice video. I have a couple of questions, Whats the lowest temp you'd be comfortable in for static use with a t shirt/light baselayer under the jacket? And how has 10d fabric held up? Any complaints regarding durability? I'm thinking of using this jacket for camp while backpacking and sort of Après ski casual use in sub -5°C temps
Probably for static use about 5 degrees. Might be a bit light for 0 degrees static. Casual use I would suggest another layer underneath at -5. Durability has been great - I wear this with a backpack and it has no tears or pulls as of yet.
Hey Ethan! Appreciate the great review. Just a few things that could be helpful to know - what temperature was it that day (roughly?), and what were you wearing underneath the jacket layer? Separately - what do you reckon the difference in warmth is between this and the Ultra? Is the ultra just lighter but same warmth? Cheers!
Hello Yasin - thanks for your comment :) the day I took this video, it was approximately -2 degrees. I had just a base layer on underneath, as the jacket was warm enough! Having never used the ultra, I couldn't say for certain what the difference is, but I think the ultra is built for colder temperatures, as it used reflective insulation and different baffling techniques.
Hi Ethan! Great video, I was just wondering, is there anywhere on the wash label that states that it is a ‘Mythic Ultra Jacket’? I came across one online and it hasn’t got that on the wash label like other Rab jackets and I was just confused to why they have removed that from the Mythic Ultra jacket.
Thanks Barnesy - here is the link to the exact jacket from where I got it - this colour currently only has xxl in stock: www.climbers-shop.com/clothing/down-insulation/rab-mens-mythic-alpine-jacket-in-marmalade__11112131
@@ethanlucas975 thanks for the reply! I’m looking at getting the same jacket in that colour too. Looks great. I’m 5”9 unsure whether to go for Medium as I’ve seen it’s quite fitted. Need to find somewhere to try one on.
That is true - I have actually used Patagonia's repair service a few times with my Down Jacket and Down Sweater. It has been second to none! The reason I sent the Alplight back was because: a) I had read several reviews online regarding the fragility of the Alplight - a lot of wearers attribute this to the nature of the brand new recycled fabric, which, despite being rated 10D, seems thinner and flimsier than other 10D fabrics I have used. b) The Alplight split after ONE hike. This was just too soon for me to expect a necessary repair and I opted for something a little harder wearing
Great review! Thank you for making this. Just ordered the same jacket. Unfortunately it is warm here now so can’t test it out for time being.

Hey, Ethan, how does the jacket fit? Most Rab stuff is really slim or long, but the Mythic line looks like it's taylor for an athletic fit. Is there a lot of room across the shoulder and chest?
I would say the fit is like a slim fit, however, I am a 38 chest and 29 waist and there is certainly a bit more room :)

Hi Max - weirdly enough, I had never noticed but YES! The wash care label says 'mythic ultra jacket'
@@ethanlucas975 Thats great, thank you for the info Ethan!
@@ethanlucas975 - super odd and interesting - does that mean it is an "ultra" or regular? :) Thanks again

pas de problème

I do like rab down jackets
Great stuff cheers mate 👍
Is there not a draw string on the back of the hood?
Not that I can see! The hood doesn't tighten at all
@ethanlucas975 ok thanks. Ive ordered one anyway thanks to this review.
You won't regret the purchase - the mythic g also uses the same type of hood - It is a little on the large side but holds up fine in most winds 😊
@@ethanlucas975Perhaps the company added a draw string to the hood for 2024.
