This new Distraction Control feature looks great. I recently started using the Astirna New Tab extension and it really helps keep my browsing organized too.
I think what’s more important is that Apple actually listened to developers and changed the photos app. They could have just kept it and said we’ll get use to it. Good job Apple
Distraction control is cool, it's basically like going into developer options and deleting stuff from the elements section (which I do often on my Mac and PC), but for non-nerds
I hope Apple would also change the new tangled video player interface in the Photos app that’s not at all intuitive with additional tap to view in full screen mode 😞
Distraction control! I can't wait to use this. Sticky banners pile up on mobile and make it difficult to engage with the content. I can't wait to use it. Thanks for the overview.
One of the biggest update nobody talks about on Watch OS is the time it takes to unlock the Apple Watch when is on sleep mode. That was a huge improvement I use a lot every night.
Can you finally sort "All" photos with newest at top? This is my biggest gripe about the Photos app; you can sort albums "Newest to Oldest" but not "All" photos. 🤦
I can't do things like looking for news stories on my iPhone. There are so many ads it is just impossible. Some won't even disappear when I tap the x. The seem to have been designed that way to make you look for a while when you are trying to shut it off. If I can get rid of all of the popups I will use my phone 10 times more.
I wish apple would remove the huge borders around the images when disabling square mode. The default everything-is-a-square mode is visually boring to me :(
I wish Apple had just left Photos alone, it was fine and worked well. After finally getting use to using Photos after migrating 30k+ RAW files from Aperture, like two years after they stopped supporting it, I have come to like it. These new changes are just a nuisance. Glad to see they rolled back the carousel.
They should just have a global setting....a more simplified mode for parents/non enthusiasts and a mode for people that are dialed in (slight pun intended). For those who don't know how to get back after an accidental swipe. 🤷🏻♂
The carousel took 5 minutes to get used to. It was really smart, hope they bring it back. The whole redesign, after playing with it for a day, brilliant! Thanks the short video and not wasting our time with font and icon changes, lol.

Straight to the point video. I wish all TH-cam content was like this.

Hate the new photos app

IMO the carousel was one of the worst UX choices I’ve ever seen on an iPhone.
I agree I never used it unless it was on accident.
Completely agree it was terrible and always activated accidentally
The photos app was a huge misstep
The type of thing that wasn't broken and didn't need fixing

New photos app is frustrating and annoying
You guys are all sitting here yaking about the irrelevant carousel when this distraction control will finally unshitify browsing the web.
So does ublock origin for non iOS users.
@@Squeeonlinei hope you don't use u block in a chromium based browser, otherwise I have bad news for you...
@@SqueeonlineYou must be lost.
It's not going to get rid of clickbait journalists
Sounds like a waste of clicking around if it doesn’t survive a refresh.

Yes, I don't spend much time on my iPhone because of it. I'll use a PC when I'm home and use uBlock Origin.

Distraction control will help me read IGN articles TV Guide articles just to name examples
Every time i open my webpage i have to hide these ads? BS feature…
Then get an adblocker

The current photo app is fine, no need to change it any more. I would see spend their time on other apps that need updating for the ipad.
Golly .... With 161,000 employees, you would think that they could maybe work on more that one app at a time.

Hides everything...but ads...
It hides ads just not a permanent solution
You really think internet content comes free…?
Can Apple do a distraction control for real life people
Like you?
I just don't pay attention to you. Works great.
@@zak2u2 Na not you, you dont count.
The 1Blocker app already does this. But I look forward to trying Apple’s version. As for Photos, nearly all the changes they’ve made sound like crap.

Did they already fix the video playback in iOS18 beta?
You can customize how high every category is??? so Im so confused why people are complaining
Cause ppl just don’t know and rush to complain
Does iPhone do Face ID in landscape mode yet
It’s been there since 2017 😐
Wait until the AI is trained on usage data and it just happens automatically.

Photo app in iOS 18 is horrible. Super busy and hard to find anything. I don't understand why they decided to make it so complicated.
Is that emoji has fix?
yeah
@@random_josh_real thank you friends 👍🏻
Just saying, go Cleveland!

The photos app will be a disaster until it is completely reverted to how it currently is in iOS 17.
Amen. Photo app in iOS 18 is a hot mess. Extremely busy ui and hard to find what you want.
Bring back the carousel.
Go Guards!!!
Brrrr
Give users an option to toggle on carousel. RIP ad blockers 💀😂
does anyone use the web anymore? I only do things directly through apps, paying not to see commercials.
No, it's all gone. They closed down every website after you left. Well done.
@@scottishwildcatI can confirm, even websites like google shut down.
