      Marvin Martian...not true, there are a range of factors involved not least of which is climate change. The periods between seasons where they can do back burning is decreasing each year. This means it is becoming really hard to do effective back burning to reduce dry fuels. This is cause by the climate changing. And what we know is that 2019 was the dryest year on record in Australia. Also over the last 100 years if you look at graphs of the average temperatures there has been a steady rise in temperature at this time of year (starting from 1902- now)and lately the fire seasons have been longer (starting early and finishing later). From an Australian...please do your homework before commenting, peace ✌️

      RikJ Stop it. I have relatives that are in some of these areas. They were stoped while back burning two years ago. Given a huge fine and told never to do it again. They have owned the property for three generations. Never been a fire there until now. Climate has zero to do with it.
      I’ve read articles that say the exact opposite to what you are. So who should I pick between your post or those I know and trust? So please do your homework? Lol.

      In the worst affected state (NSW), the area burnt is about 10 million hectares. the whole state is around 800 million hectares. In other words about 6.5% of the area of the state. Much of that is in largely inaccessible mountainous areas.

      Generally, the temperature here in Munich during winter time is around -7 degrees Celsius. But yesterday it was 15 degrees Celsius in the middle of winter! This is really crazy! In Moscow, which is one of the coldest capitals here in Europe, is presenting temperatures of +5 degrees C. In addition, the government there had to put artificial snow on the streets so people could take a picture in the "snow". Even there are already blooming some flowers. Here in Munich the temperature are rising and falling crazy, but the old good snow isn't falling (only twice in December 19)!

    I love how Adelaide isn't even on the map, we had some devastating fires in the Adelaide Hills that caused evacuation and loss of homes and life too. I had to evacuate my mum and my Daughter out of our home in the Adelaide Hills to my Auntie's apartment in Glenelg West of Adelaide CBD, many of our vineyards, generations worth were also destroyed. Kangaroo Island was completely wiped out, people trying to help the wildlife and fighting the fires loosing their lives also. I know our fires in South Australia we're bearly comparable to the fires that Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland endured but I mean Adelaide/South Australia does exist and were suffered too! Let's put it on the map!

      I was wondering if anyone would point that out because it was the first thing I noticed too! There's no denying the sheer devastation caused and the unimaginable scenes the people in NSW and VIC faced, but the fires on K I unfortunately play a significant part in this tragedy.

Mind you, any fire is frightening, but when you're living in the suburbs of a major city, being told there's the possibility of fires reaching even our homes where we felt well and truly safe, it gave us a sense of deep uncertainty. That map of the fires is entirely misleading. It's based off a satellite heat map. I live in Aus and this is just false reporting. Large parts of NSW and VIC have been devastated, also SA has had some tough times, some southern regions in Qld. There are small fires around in other parts of the country but this map makes it look like the entire of North Queensland is on fire which is false. there were small fires that were contained quite easily.each icon represents a heat source but gives no indication on the size of it.

    1:11 ... is this map for real ? Australia is as big as the US ! This would mean the country is on fire from LA to NY and Seattle to Miami. Fire is natural, ask the indiginous people, but this is grand scale arson IMHO. And at 3:00 I'm not convinced she understands the Southern hemisphere having summer right now, while the US is having winter.

    • @laZOETje
      @laZOETje 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      RAWDernison1 yes the map size is real. The fires are burning where there are trees, no trees are inland, no people live there. We have had years of drought, minimal rainfall. The places that do get rain get a flood all at once and it washes dust earth away rather than soaking in. Or, as happens recently, dry thunderstorms, heat lightening cause more fires. This fire may be from natural causes but is not natural/normal.

    • @penitent2401
      @penitent2401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah the map is correct size. Australia's width is almost the same as the US as well. if you don't include Alaska, Australia's land area is almost exactly the same as the US.
      for the Europeans: if you put Australia on top of Europe, the land will cover up Britain, half of the Mediterranean, all of Spain, most of Turkey, half of Norway, Sweden and Finland and large chunk of Russia. and all the counties in between including both France and Germany.

    In Australia some plants need the fire 🔥 for their seeds to open. That’s why it’s important to do control burning like the Aboriginals use to do it for thousands of years. But the Greenies on the East Coast of Australia put stop to that, that’s why the bushfires were so very bad in recent years & many animals suffered also people lost their homes & lives. 😪
    The West Coast they do controlled burning in late Autumn & in the Springtime to clear the under growth.

      Not again. How about money for climate and influence of politicians? Praying achieves nothing and only makes you feel better.

    Australia is a country where the indigenous people burnt the bush periodically and do back burning.

    My town was effected by the bushfires of 2019. It was so scary. Thankfully we didn't loose any lives but so much land was lost. I was on edge for a week. And if something so little as the wind changing could kill hundreds of animals and people. One ember blowing in the womd can destroy a home. And even now in 2021, everytime i see a helicopter flying around, i smell smoke i panic that it's going to happen again.

    While arson certainly has been a cause for some fires, the majority have been started by lightning strikes from dry thunderstorms. In the case of the Cudlee Creek fire recently, it was caused by high winds breaking very dry tree branches that fell onto powerlines. Still, not a good scenario no matter which way you look at it.

      Tell President Macron not to give money but to have a frank and candid conversation about how to really be a leader - because Australia doesn't have good leadership and hasn't for many years. This is a major cause of the current bushfire crisis. I respect the French for their protest culture.
