OK, so I googled, and apparently cactus/succulent leaves ARE indeed called leaves! Who knew? LOL I loved watching your images come to life. The white highlights you left on the second pot you painted made me think of the mineral staining that happens on unglazed terra cotta pots when you have something planted in them. Cool look, and as you demonstrated, so easy to achieve! Such a beautiful and simple card. (Simple design, not to put down the effort that went into it!) Thank you so much for sharing. Take care, and have an awesome day! :)
I was curious, too. The presence of a structure called the areole sets cacti apart from all other plants. Areoles give rise to flowers, new branches, and spines. There are many different types of spines-some are soft and feathery to protect the plant from intense sunlight, while others are tough and sharp for protection.
This made me chuckle because I'm currently looking for ideas for cactus themed thanks cards because I've been prickly recently!! Gorgeous card, love the technique - you make it look very easy 😃
Absolutely lovely! I’m trying to learn how to paint with watercolor. The more I learn, the more I love them. So much you can do with them! Just today I had my 7 yr old granddaughter and we were learning wet on wet. She made a galaxy. So much fun!
Thanks Sandy for sharing this, I DID learn a few things. I will definitely be trying this. I am going to Cuba for a week next month and have decided to take the Hero Arts dot chart so I can practice my water colouring yet still 'travel light'. So I have pre-stamped a bunch of pages and made myself a w/c book after watching one of your recent videos on how to do it. Again, thanks for sharing your ideas and talent!
Well, you've done it again... there goes every plan I had for productivity this morning! Laundry can wait. I have to try this technique right now! Thanks - and I really mean it!
Thanks for sharing this technique. I do have one question. When you cover the existing cacti with a mask and then remove does it take a lot of your water coloring off? Or do you wait a bit and let it dry? I noticed on your masks there was some removal but not much. Thanks for sharing . Look forward to your next video.
Great video!! I've been trying to figure out how not to get bloops when I use my Daniel Smith watercolors. Thanks so much for this video! Also, I know you're a fan of Daniel Smith, too. Check my Instagram (artsirosi) to see how I fit 248 of their 251 colors on a John Pike palette. It's beautiful!!😅😅😅
How can you be sure that the bible pages can cope with water colours before you order a bible? I want to get one, but I have to order it online and I haven't found one that I am sure that it will cope with water colours.
So happy I found your channel..you are truly a magnificent artist and a wonderful teacher. Many thanks.

Really nice composition & the technique is fun. TFS. You can see the negative image left by the stamp in the ink puddle, cool.

Just let it dry and it’ll be fine.
@@SandyAllnock1 Thanks.
Love IT. Hi from Holland.
Interesting, although I don’t feel I have enough experience to try this yet.

They’re all basically the same paper and work fine with watercolor 👍🏻
@@SandyAllnock1 thank you. That helps.
