To anyone watching this video, I would have like to make a follow up video but I am afraid it would not necessarily reach the right people so here is a summary for how things progressed (onwards from this video). At ~ 4 month mark almost all symptoms resolved -reflux wasn't an issue- we stopped the meds then. We continued to use a wedge until about 5 months - sleeping was improving. I slept with him upright in my arms another handful of times (when breathing was noisy or he was irritated) but other than that he became a lot better at sleeping alone in his crib. This month my nugget will be turning 1 year old and aside from occasional stridor when he has a upper respiratory tract infection, he really has no symptoms. He sleeps alone in his room through the night, takes 2 long naps in the day time and eats everything he sees! Wherever you are in your journey I just want to share that I know its not easy, but you and your baby WILL get through it. Sending so much love and remember, each case is different- this is just how things turned out for us.

I'm a pediatrician, momma since a month and surprise surprise my baby has Laryngomalacia. It's one thing to diagnose a baby and advise a family you'll probably never meet again, it's another to live with it. I'm mentally exhausted from explaining the condition to everybody including fellow Doctors so I think it's super you made this video. I'd definitely love to hear the update on how it's going and how the SpO2 monitoring went.
Hi Idara, thank you so much for your comment. I am sorry to hear this, I hope that baby is doing alright! The Sp02 monitoring was within 'normal' range, he had dips occasionally throughout the night, I can't remember exactly but it was in low 80's. This however wasn't considered worrisome so he did not require supplemental oxygen thereafter. It did however provide me with a huge relief knowing that the 'sounds' did not necessarily imply desaturations. I hope this helps!
Just coming back from my daughters pediatricians office he said he thinks it’s laryngomalacia last night she freaked me out with a weird breathing kinda gagging noise. At home watching this video and reading the comments I feel a little hopeful. Just waiting on the referral to go thru and I’ll be seeing a speciality soon. I am a mother of 4 but have never experienced this.
im a feeding and lactation specialist and see babies with laryngomalacia all of the time. FYI: I also work with children with Down Syndrome and 85% of them have laryngomalacia.
My 6 week old was just diagnosed with this, she has noisy breathing while on her back and when shes crying or fussing, she has a tracheal tug and minor retractions but her 02 levels are normal, over 96% the reteactions are so scary even though all my doctors say that her oxygen levels are normal so not to worry. Idk if that's a good reapponse from my doctor but its making me so anxious
I cannot give medican advice, but normal saturation and weight gain are great indicators 🙌🏽🙌🏽 wishing you and baby well, that she heal quickly from her lm and remain a mild case !
My son was born with Laryngomalacia. He was diagnosed right away. We would have his oxygen levels monitored to be sure he was getting the air he needed. Within a year he had outgrown it. He did suffer from pediatric asthma but I’m not sure it was related. He outgrew that as well. Now he’s a happy and healthy 27 year old. 😊
My guy just had his supra. His sleeping is not better unfortunately. He did gain weight finally around 6-8 months (EBF) but his sleep apnea was awful! Due to his sleep study they determined a dbl supra was needed as soon as possible. No thicken feeds and the choking episodes got better
@@Mhudson1127 Wishing your little guy so much healing and strength. I am glad thing are heading in the right direction. Not an easy diagnosis or experience.

Hi my baby 7 weeks now and the gp said she had laryngomalacia without diagnosing her but she said all the symptoms like sounds noises looks like laryngomalacia and it will be gone like 3 months or 6 months or 18 months.what should i do? Should I diagnose for her?
My pediatrician says its stridor... Also he has little difficulty while feeding and stridor also while feeding.. What medicines should we use. Reflux and??
My baby is 3 and half months old now. His sound is getting worse sometimes. But sometimes there is no sound like that. And he has so much gas when feeding. When will it okay?
Hello Nisadi, I am sorry I cannot speak to your specific case but I would say that if you're concerned or symptoms are worsening, to seek medical attenetion.
Hi Meer, I share some advice in this video (positioning, wedge) etc, but ultimately in non-surgical cases the real healer is time. Sending love your way!
Hi josss, thank you for your concern and feedback 😊 he grew out of his stridor at about 3/4 months and feeds became a lot better by 3 months as well. He is 6 months old now and has no signs of Laryngomalacia. Has started foods and that's going well. If youre dealing with something similar, I wish your baby a full recovery 🙏🙏🙏

@@Rodskie357 Hello, My child started eating at 5-6 months. I asked his doctor before to verify that it was safe. Healthy babies typically begin food at 4-6 months of age but always verify with your doctor if you're not sure.
I suspect this with my 5 week old . My pediatrician keeps insisting that it’s normal for babies to have noisy breathing . It sounds squeaky and he seems uncomfortable so I would like to see an peds ENT. Was it a scary or painful procedure for the baby to be scoped ? I’m afraid of that since he’s so small.
I would film the noisy breathing so that your doctor could evaluate better and the laryngoscope was definitely a more intimidating experience for me than it was for my infant. He forgot about it minutes after !
My 6 months old had it very mild when she was 2 months. It went away and now she has a cold and it came back. The strider is sometimes when she’s feeding or when I’m holding her up or laying on her back. She doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. I brought her to the pediatrician and he keeps saying that it gets worst before it gets better. time I hear the stridor. I put a humidifier in her room and it seems to be helping and also some nasal saline spray. I don’t know what else to do. Any advice? Thank you
Hello, I cannot give medical advice but suggest you consult with your child's treating physician if you have concerns. It is true that it often gets worse before getting better and often worsens when they are in supine position. Thank you
Hi my baby just got diagnosed with this she is 6 months old and I had a quick question will this affect her immune system? Is it more common for her to get sick?
