I really like his humour + I totally respect how he's stuck to his guns with the same style since the early 80's. He's gone lighter / heavier here and there but the core is the same. He knows what he likes and sticks with it, and satisfies his other cravings as side projects (eg the stuff with the Japanese philharmonic orchestra). Malmsteen is a fucking cool guy and an all-time great guitar player. And...without his ego and arrogance, he wouldn't be as good, it's all part of who he is.

@revelinabandon a song's catchiness says nothing at all about the quality of the composition. Dylan's songs are simple but catchy, and thus easily accessible for the masses of pop music listeners. Many of Yngwie's songs are more like classical compositions.

y'all may doubt this but it's true. im the same with him (just not nearly as good) i've been playing for 9-10 months and i can pick up my guitar and just improvise and write songs with ease. (still just not as good NEARLY as his or as complicated). but it still sounds good. i've made up almost an entire song now (my first though cuz i haven't tried any other time) and it's taken me only a few days, but would take less but i have school and homwork and other stuff
I think Yngwie's written scores of great songs. And you're right - Dylan is a decent songwriter, that's all - he's a hippy poet who knew a few chords on a guitar. Yngwie's a composer. Bach, Mozart or Beethoven would be insulted if you said "nice song". They composed pieces of music, not songs. Saying that Dylan is a musician is really stetching it. He's a folk/rock songwriter. A musician should know how to play in different contexts, have some knowledge of scales, arpeggios, harmony, etc. Yngwie may play the same way a lot, but if he really wanted to he could sit in with musicians in various styles - Dylan doesn't possess the skills to do that, especially as a "guitarist". He did write some good songs however, which sound MUCH better when someone else plays them!

Also is you referring to the video as being a coulpe of years after his other died, this video was released after his Alchemy album which was released in '99, so tht still not a couple of years!
