  • The VictronConnect app allows you to control and monitor various Victron Energy products in a camper electrical system. The app is incredibly feature-rich but can sometimes be overwhelming. In this video, we will cover the bare bones of what you need to know to ensure your electrical system is functioning properly. This blog post assumes that all of the Victron components in the system have been installed, set up, and programmed.

    I am tech / solar ignorant!!!
    And YOU have been SOO MUCH help to me. Have had my Victron system for MONTHS in the state of Az. but couldn't find ANYONE in the sunniest state in the U.S. to help me install my system. Through YOUR video's, I my IGNORANT self got my solar going. Still some bug's to work out, but YOUR video's REALLY helped and are GREATLY appreciated!!!

    I have been downloading the history from my systems since November 2020 when i got my 1st Smart Solar Charge Controller. Some interesting data can be found.
    I wish the BMV/shunt could send SOC Max/Min, & the temp sensor send hi/lo temps.😊

    Do you have a video on programming the dc2dc 121230 charger. I don't have mine set up correctly because if I leave it on, it always kills my start battery.

    Hi. Thanks for the useful video. In your case, I saw that the Multiplus appears as VE on the Victron Connect app your smartphone. In my case, I see all devices, except the Multiplus. Is the reason possobly in not having the USB dongle? Or could there be other reasons? Best regards.

    So the solar wattage actually shows the power being output by the charge controller rather than the solar input? This has been my theory since we got our new RV as it shows almost zero when connected to shore power but as soon as I disconnect it begins to climb.

    Great info (as usual)! Question regarding the following scenario where you have 1200 W of solar, 100% battery SOC, minimum or no loads. What does the Solar Charge Controller do with the incoming 1200W of Solar?

    • @EXPLORISTlife

      The charge controller just turns off, basically. Sorta like how there is always power available at a light switch, but the lights only turn on when the switch is on.

  • @chachi5975

    Just an FYI, the time remaining is based on what you have set the discharge floor on. If you are using the BMV relay function on a percentage range it will reflect that setting and not the battery bank capacity. Same with that little battery on the display.

    • @EXPLORISTlife

      For sure! And since we set the discharge floor to 0% on Battle Born Batteries as we can use their full capacity, it's the same measurement.
      AGM or lead acid batteries where you can use 50% of the battery capacity will be greatly affected by this.

    • @chachi5975

      @@EXPLORISTlife I guess what I was trying to say is that it's unfortunate that the relay function when using the %charge as the parameters changes the discharge floor. It would be nice if they was a way to separate them. Maybe there is and I'm just missing it.

    • @EXPLORISTlife

      What scenario are you trying to accomplish? Or... what's the use case?

    • @chachi5975

      @@EXPLORISTlife I have the relay set up for solar dumping. When I reach 100% it turns on the electric water heater in my travel trailer. I have it programmed to shut off at 95%, but that setting changes the discharge floor. It's not the end of the world because the charge percentage is still accurate. I first noticed it when that little battery in the display would be empty around 96% and when I called Battleborns support, they couldn't explain it at the time. I had originally set the BMV to their specs so it wasn't until I was playing around with it that I figured out it was being changed by the parameters of the relay function. It's not a huge deal like you said, it's rare that you have a constant charge or discharge so the time remaining is dynamic.

    The problem with your videos if people have money, they go and pay professionals to install or buy ready build. If people are on budget, most of the funcy stuff is not required.

    • @EXPLORISTlife

      That's not true. Plenty of DIYers are doing this stuff because they like to know how to do this stuff themselves, not because they are trying to do it as cheaply as possible.
