      He wanted the assistant city manager job for Public Safety in Dallas, but they gave it to their company man, lot less stress than being police chief, so he got the offer from Austin with the same position, so he jumped ship , do not blame him at all, less stress and more money, plus he is probably going to get a Dallas pension, along with his California police pension.....not a bad deal..........

    When you can't steer/course correct a big ship out of trouble when it's going to sink, then you get off. Dallas has been going down hill steadily for about 7 years. I've lived here 50 years.

      Dallas isn't that bad. I'm born and raised here myself. Oak Cliff to be exact. In my opinion, we have one of the best police forces in the country.

Not one of the DPD rookie cops who are enamored by him and made retorts couldn’t come with just ONE thing he’s done to make the quality of life in Dallas better during his tenure. Day in and day out the good ppl of Dallas has to put themselves in harms way until DPD arrives on the scene. That’s a public safety issue. And the news media are too much of a coward to address this with Garcia and DPD personnel. Part of the issue is the Dallas 911 system. All in all this is under Garcia.

There so much crime in Dallas streets that don’t get reported because DPD cops are too lazy to take reports and take their sweet time responding to calls cherry picking easy calls to handle. Garcia turned a blind eye on internal problems within DPD. So stop playing yourself. Civilians has to put themselves in harms way to deal with crime because they have to wait for officers to arrive.
