CBC Toronto: Mississauga students start 'Black Futures Lab'

Kiya Busby and Hireé Dugassa saw a need for their school to better support Black students - so they started a group to do just that.
“I was reminiscing on 2020 and all the events that had taken place, and how it had impacted the Black community and especially the Black youth,” Busby said.
The group 'Black futures Lab' at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School aims to foster a more inclusive environment through education and discussion. Recently, it successfully campaigned to have a Black history course implemented at their school.
