At the type you can use cname but i cannot change the name to www because i do not have an option to delete the existing one

I have followed these steps which connected the domain but after 48hrs when i type my website into google it still do noes appear. I have contacted Go Daddy who I registered the domain name with and they said that I need an 'A' Type record - which my account does not have. Do you have a solution to this? and what data do I need to create an 'A' type on my Go daddy account? What steps do I need to follow on google sites to get that data please?

for some reason when i go to step #2 "click on custom domains" all of those choices (navigation, brand images, viewer tools, analytics, etc) are there BUT "custom domains" is NOT there. any suggestions?

Google site no longer has the "custom domain" option from settings. Or it isn't an option for me at least.
