    Great monologue.
I agree that imperialism/neo colonialism is and has always been alive.
I agree with you after listening to the entire video.
The real impediment to freedom for the global south for me, Kenya included, is at least threefold: the Kenyan people, the Kenyan govt and global cabals.
The sobering truth is that we can always do something to free ourselves but it is not and has never been easy or straightforward. I agree that most people would rather take a big salary or drive big cars because as human beings, it is natural to be selfish and look after your close family rather than have the resolve to fight the cause of poverty in our country and lose your livelihood or life. For those with no salary or cars, the choice to give their lives away (in all aspects) is forced upon them. I say this because it is factual, not because I think it is the way things should work. Those who keep us poor do it strategically, as you’ve said, for fear of having a united citizenry rise up and hold them (govts) accountable. Our govt leverages the tribalism we love so much (majority of the population; young and old) to keep us divided and keep prying eyes away from their dirty business. I strongly believe that any well meaning Kenyan who puts up a fight (in any sphere of society: politics/business..)will be sheep among wolves and will end up paying with their life. This is common everywhere, including our beloved Kenya.
Our govt, is at the very end, in the hands of the puppet master, the global cabals; IMF, WB etc. Corruption is like an endemic disease in Kenya, sadly and we embrace it, and this serves to keep the corrupt govt in power. There are leaders, like yourselves and others, who are capable to try and pull us out of the mess we’re in as a country, but i strongly believe that true leadership does not belong to this fallen world. This is itself, an entire topic.
The globalists, the so called developed/1st world countries are and have historically been the reason for our poverty, apart from the ones above. I will not get into this specific topic but most of what we hear about them and their obsession to control humanity has been deemed conspiracy theory. They have always silenced any voice showing promise of a revolution; be it Gaddafi or Mugabe. Any true leader looking to free his people from the clutches of the global cabals, and make significant headlines will be silenced, sadly.
I believe revolution is the true solution. This is true for every country in the so called global south. We know how the imperialists with their MNCs and governments enslave the world with the willing aid of national governments. It is also true and sad that few will be willing to put their lives away (economically, socially, physical death).
When we read the bible and hear of the new kingdom of Jesus Christ that will be ushered in, we sometimes forget or push away the fact that this is how the spiritual and physical worlds merge: the battle of good and evil is upon us everyday until we die. Not to say that we should sit and wait for the return of the King, I just say it because it is factual. God bless your work. We continue to fight for our lives

My prayer for Kenya and mama Afrika is Bob Marley’s Redemption Song! Emancipate yourself from mental slavery … none but ourselves can free our mind …

Great monologue! Shukran. I've always said Neo-colonialism is more destructive than colonialism because it wears disguises and hides in plain sight.

Thank you for putting this out there. A lot more Kenyans need to hear this.
The poverty Mantra was used to colonise us. Up to now so many Kenyans think the colonisers rescued us from the poverty of living in earthen huts and 'disease'... When in-fact most precolonial societies were well adapted and self sustaining.
We've carried this through to date, we grow cash crops such as tea and coffee on some of our most arable Land to meet the demands of the west leaving us 'incapable' of Being food secure.
We really have a lot of work to dig ourselves out of the poverty mindset though it is sad that our academic institutions are in cahoots with this narrative.

Thank you for this. My take away is to reject the intellectual mantra of poverty. Imperialism is on its death bed.

That might explain why one of Kenya's most prestigious highschool's motto is "strong to serve" the imperialists is silent.
