    Thank you for actually playing along with the tracks. Shocking how difficult it is to find a video of someone actually playing along. Everybody else just drones on forever.

    Great demo. I only dream of having the talent you have. At 70 now, I am trying to get my fingers and brain to work together lol.
    I started re-learning to play in 2018 after a retiring and a 30 year gap since taking lessons. BiTB might be a great learning tool for me.
    Thanks for the time you took to share your insights and expirience.

    Thanks for sharing this review! I retired a few years ago and decided to start re-recording about a hundred covers I had done on a karaoke platform called SingSnap. I had been using SingSnap for about 15 years, but I was never happy with the video or audio quality. I am thrilled to have stumbled onto BIAB 2023 for Mac. Almost overnight I have created backing tracks for 4 classic country songs and even did “Imagine” by John Lennon. As a 68-year-old on SS income, I could not afford to pay for backing tracks, so now I just create my own. Great guitar picking! Wish I could accompany myself, but TH-cam doesn’t seem to mind even though I get a copyright notice (not a strike) about the melody once I start singing the vocals.

    I just picked up my BIAB 2020 MegaPak recently, and I had no idea you could record audio directly into the software, and mix it there as well. That is awesome! Here I was thinking I would need a separate DAW to record my vocals and then mix the two together; having to deal with integrating the two softwares. So thank you very much for the information!

I am SO glad to have found this channel, and will be spending much time here in the future. Rodney is up there with RJ Ronquillo and Marty Friedman imho. Greetings Rodney! One of your coolest videos. When you played the Afro-Cuban Groove and guitar work, I would not have guessed it could be improved on but, the Rockabilly styling was easily as sweet. I am going to check this out, to create backing tracks for my harmonica playing. Two side notes: for those reading the comments- I have played gigs with Rodney- he "does the work" and it shows when he hits the stage live! #2. Rodney, I moved out to San Diego from Austin 6 months ago, was starting to play some good gigs and gain interest from studios, all that on hold with being in "quarantine mode" so, this may be a good a good time to learn to lay down some grooves with this tool. Best to you and your wife. Namaste, Gabriel

    My "songwriting" is nothing more than me warbling words over a strummed guitar & I'm not that great at either. BUT I have managed to record them on a Tablet for posterity. They are for my family. Is it possible just to play MY mp3's into BIAB & let it decypher what I have already done and only then for me to try to add/subtract tracks from its massive lists to pick the best backing tracks?

      Thank you! I appreciate the listen and comment! There are multiple tools in BIAB with built -in ear training practices and an easy interface to set up chord intervals and and scale intervals. You can set up progressions to lstudy the difference between Maj, Min, Dim, 7ths etc... There are even 'ear' and pitch developing games. Its a great great great piece of software!

    Once you're good as him, he can literally make that smooth jazz stuff in one track. So why doesn't he just make covers and sell them? Because the money is in selling dreams. Not being the dream. He is saying truth though.. Band in a box is a miracle program.

    Doesn't record the chords from guitar as digiteh trio does?

    • @rockin_john6282
      @rockin_john6282 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Last several versions can use built in chord recognition to not only chart the chords from your guitar, but any recorded music! Just not in real time. The software "translates" the audio into the chord chart. Makes it great for putting in any song, it will show you the chords, and play them back in the style you select/prefer. I've been using this product since version 6 (about 20 years).

    • @RodneyGeneJunior
      @RodneyGeneJunior  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the listen Ira! Some musicians create backing tracks and put on CD to play along with. Many use BIAB from a Laptop connected to the PA, some use just a guitar track, bass track etc to accompany themselves live. Basically what you saw here on the video, only in front of an audience. Flexible tool for the way we like to work.

    I got halfway thorough this & then had to stop to try to think of where I'd heard that main melody off the 45rpm before. Convinced someone famous had nicked it, I was barking up the wrong tree. I realised it's from a song that I wrote a few weeks back while cooking Sunday lunch! Seriously, I've never heard the song before! Though I made it up in my head without any backing to help, I guess it demonstrates how there aren't really that many variations you can do if you have a set chord progression. But, at least with BIAB you can have thousands of different backing options. I'm getting 2019 soon.... just coz after my Sunday lunch idea factory moments, I don't have to get all the gear out to see what it sounds like :) Thanks

  • @lgovantes1
    @lgovantes1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video, informative. I don't know what happened to a previous post I made... it was removed...censored! it has to do with Rodney creating a video that shows how to use BIAB/or other program to take a cover song in MP3 format and dissect the MP3 into separate tracks (STEMS) and allow a performer to remove the track he/she plays and create a backing track, modified by any other BIAB styles, etc. A singer would benefit by taking out the vocals and creating the lyrics from the vocal (speech-to-text technology, enhance by online lyrics lookup), and creating essentially a Karaoke version of the song with chords embedded so he/she can play their instrument and sing.

    Well done, accomplished muso. One question though, how come you don’t do your mixing and finer finishing in RealBand? My process has been to work up the song in Band in a Box, then once complete, save and open in RealBand - that’s when the fun starts with real tracks and real drums.

    • @RodneyGeneJunior
      @RodneyGeneJunior  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Ralph, thank you for the comment! Coming from Pro Audio at the time, I was using Nuendo daily when I started with BIAB many many years ago. RB was held just a fraction of what my software did. There was no point then. It's certainly evolved and I'll explore it again at some point! And truthfully like I reference in the video, BIAB is a deep dive. I only use maybe 10%, but I continue to expand on that. Its part of an overall process for me but it gets better and better every single version! Have a great one!

    • @ralphtyrrell6509

      @@RodneyGeneJunior Thanks for the reply. Of course you know that in Real Band you can choose a huge range of instruments to accompany your song using Real Tracks. Real instrumentalist using real instruments. Not midis, and not possible in a DAW that I know (I use Ableton Live). I was looking for a particular bass line and was blown away by the choices - just for bass! Then look up fiddle, harmonica, cello, you name it, and again, within each instrument category their are endless options. And once the track is in your song you can continue to tweak to your hearts content. Then of course, Real Drums is there as well, with bottomless pit of options all tweakable. So, as you can see, I am blown away by Real Band and all that goes with it. Real Band is real fun!

  • @slowjammerukdog

    So you've been using BIAB as the basis for your backing tracks on all those beautiful gear demos over the past few years? Really? I have an elderly version of BIAB to go with my elderly Mac, and I use it for the occasional practice session - I don't even bother with the "real tracks" features - but you've inspired me to go way further with it...yet again, it's a big thank-you to RGJ. Oh, and that Grez hollowbody looks and sounds so glorious, especially with you pickin' it. Stay safe, man, and don't ever stop what you're doing. Cheers from the north of Ireland.
