- In this video we take you through our normal routines on how to pour a RV driveway, typically we put rebar in our concrete but for this particular job, the customer did not want to add the rebar. We hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful! Like Comment & Subscribe!

Thank you for continuing to post these. I'm in Bakersfield, CA - and I wish you were close enough to take the job. I've been watching your videos, to understand if I've got the capacity to pour a few smaller slabs.. tool shed size and you make it look possible. Keep the videos coming!
J Rivas
pour early when it's cool.
gives you more time to get it right
Great job! I'll have to lay an RV driveway in the near future. This video is quite thorough, even dealing with sprinkler heads. Thanks!
Thank you David, we try to be as thorough and helpful as we can!
David Walker
your welcome
Make sure to pour a 4000 psi mix (straight cement) and add Fibermesh (1 bag per yard). Lay some #3 bar 2' feet off center. The video is great but always over engineer unless the soil in your region is known for being stable.
Coming across these years old videos…. Fast forward to 2021; videos have gotten better and better! 🇺🇸🔥
Yes

here in Canada we always use rebar with 3/4" crush in the cement. 20mpa for compression strength. nice pour
Thomas Hare Pascals?
Scott Warren megapascals yeah
Yup, no Ab, no rebar poured on dirt that pad will have cracks all over it.
Here in Canada no we do not use 20mpa..this is not 1984
.We use 32
32 mpa for load bearing but a driveway doesn't require that much unless it's gonna double as a weight scale haha
I liked them joints! Nice, clean and sharp.Great video amigo 👍
TY
Thanks for posting. Please keep it coming.

you got it
Outstanding.
Looks great. I will be doing a rv pad here shortly myself
Have fun!
thats awesome quality work Man brother. Thanks!

The most important aspect in concrete, is the base. Pouring on dirt and tamping it with a little 100 pound tamper is not going to do anything. For high traffic areas such as a driveway,a 5000pound Bomag is what you need. Also putting the right aggregate and sand for a tight compaction. Clay compacts well, but you need the proper equipment to achieve it. As for concrete, rebar is essential for durability and strength. Also putting enough Cutts in is to control the cracking, vertically and horizontally. The slab should to be in sections to conform with the shifting and settling over time.

I was thinking the same thing... it is good work and it looks great, but aren't you supposed to put some gravel under the concrete and me personally would've made a cut down the middle. And yeah that plate compactor does less than me stomping my foot..... the work does look good and I'm sure it's "enough".... I do highway work so maybe residential doesn't need as much as I think it does?
great video taught me a lot I appreciate it.

G'day Dave, thank you for these videos. We live in Australia and are going to make our four skater Sons, a concrete slab, next weekend. Thanks Mate, you are a dead set, Legend, if only we could 'beam' you over to us for a few cold beers. Cheers, Glen and Liz.
SOunds good.

very good job.
Thanks for posting your videos it's going to be a big help when I do my own driveway, patio, and extend my porch. I notice on some of your other videos there are times that you use rebar and gravel befor a pour but on this video saw you only compact the dirt then poured the cement on top. I'm in Denver Colorado, and I'm a one-man band do it yourself at home person. I am not going to order a cement truck because I've never poured concrete in my life. I'm investing in a cement mixer and a bunch of bags of Quikrete from Home Depot to do small sections at a time. I'm going to remove a slab that fits one car and pour a brand new 17 wide by 30 feet long driveway. will I need rebar gravel and a certain pressure of bag concrete.

every job is different.

Hi Dave. I won't call as I'm in NZ but thanks for uploading. I'd be interest to see how you get your boxing straight and how you solve some of the problems of laying pads on unlevel ground.
Cheers Mate

I could make great use of that topsoil. A cement raised garden bed with the irrigation I think you install would be a valuable upsell. If the area is for RV parking only, is it feasible to pour lanes for the wheels? That would lessen runoff, use less material, and possibly cost less? What about coating the parking area with a garage floor covering to make cleaning easier?
William Biggs
lacquer base sealer.
small lanes cost the same.
it has to be deeper and have steel in it.
You guys need to invest in a walk behind dingo nice finish work
really nice
TY
You guys have nice good concrete there
Gabe C
Yes I like it.
great work and love the detail. What would you suggest for 41" 5th wheel. Do I need thicker slab with rebar.
5"s 1/2" rebar @ 2' centers should do it
When would you have to put compacted gravel under the pad?
Hey Mike love your videos, I’m about to pour a driveway just like this, I was just wondering if I should put gravel down?
Get down
That top soil looked very good. Did you charge him to remove it and then sell it to someone else?
I kept getting rocks in the expansion joint, big rocks keep on popping up and made the joints look like shit. I ordered the cement that has more base rock in it was it my fault?
Great work. Looking at your videos to learn the process. Would have been great to work with you guys to gain some experience. Keep the vids coming...

Would you reccomend Thomas concrete? Could you please give your advice on best mix if I'm not going to use any rebar. Thank you
never heard of it
Looks Great. Why did you choose to NOT use metal to reinforce the concrete? Wont this just crack in a few years? Why didnt you use a sand/gravel base? Or a moisture block? I feel like this was a DIY especially when you had 8 guys cutting up sod instead of a quick bobcat run.
OSS
***PLEASE RESPOND***
Do you think a 6 sack(4,000psi), 4" slab (9x50') would be enough to hold a 5th wheel toy hauler? The toy hauler weighs 12k lbs. I don't plan on using rebar or fiber. Or do you think I will need rebar or fiber?
depends on the soil
good work would love to see steel forms and steel pins
Joey Nardozzi
you will see some steel stakes soon. I ran in to a job the dirt is like concrete.
Odell Complete Concrete been there I understand for sure
thanks for the video david, I'm 20 years old and just started a pavement maintenance business and I would love to start doing small concrete pours like this, are they reasonably profitable?
Noah Bernard
not really
you need to love the work.
thanks for video I don't remember using 4 inch concrete for big truck no rebar idk is this all code?
rusty Shackleford
yes this design is good for the shuttle on.
Hello im from florida. Im planning to do the same 20x15 but do i need to put footings? If it needs what should be the size of the footing?
check your local building codes
How many inches think would I need to have a concrete slab reinforced with rebar to support a loaded Semi truck? I've heard of 6 inches thick reinforced with rebar but I don't know if that's too thin
Any information would be helpful I enjoyed your video and you earned yourself a New subscriber
Wayne Johnson
6 inches with number 4 rebar at 18 inch centers should do the trick. also a 3250 psi. Maybe some compacted road base depending on soil conditions.
Odell Complete Concrete thank you for responding I appreciate the info it's gonna help me a lot on my project
What determines when you need to use a power trowel machine?
Daniel Johnson
man power and size of jobs
this was all same day?
Anyway to show the final end result after the concrete dries in your future videos?
good idea
This sold me odell! Where are you located @? If your not close enough any advice and estimate for me to make a 9'x15' pad for a car and steel frame tent? Thanks guys and good job
Same design as shown should be fine.
I checked out a few of your vids. and steal dont see where your from??
*****
CA.
Can such a pad be done in increments?if so, what's the best method?
My pad will be 25x16.
I gotta do everything myself as I never have any help from anyone and can't afford to pay someone.
Autumn Winter
do it in 8'4" x 8' sections
We are getting a slab to hold two cars. Do we need rods? Someone suggested rods for support.
Not necessary, but why not
did not know that abt large aggregate replaces need for rebar
Heath Wood
it definitely helps.
Doesn't replace steel tho. Rocks don't hold concrete together, steel and high MPA hold concrete together. If there's any clay in the soil that slab will crack to buggery after a wet year.
Lachlan Carnell thanks man for the feedback and education. What's MPA?
@OdellCompleteConcrete Do you spray sealer over the new concrete.?
Edwin H
Concrete curing compound
3 quarter inch rocks can it be used on a concrete pump
Daniel Beraki
yes
What brand big blue frezno do you use in your videos ?
Andrew Kokkila
roseburogh
would you advice buying bags and mixing them or calling a truck
Mocha Guerrero
over a yard I would get a truck
What’s the cost of a Rv pad like this. Looking to do this or just go with a compacted stone
2500
that string line you set up for the forms. why did you go up a couple inches above the sidewalk?
Arch in the middle
sometimes i see you set your string already with an arch in the middle. how high or how do you determine how high you go?
Man digging by hand
Yes get rid of the gym membership and start digging
yes u did run that funny float
Carlos Perro
oh good
Why won't you want to use rebar with 3/4 gravel or any type of base ? Won't it be reassurance thing for cracking purposes ?
NO need in this area
@@OdellCompleteConcretewhy though ? I don’t see you explain it anywhere …
r u for hire, i live in san Antonio, tx
Do work in Arizona? and if you don't can you recommend someone?
occasionally, but only near the river.
Do you quote work in 92308 high desert?
no
Does the homeowner have to maintain this in anyway? Like keep it wet for a certain amount of time?
aconsideration1
it doesn't hurt to keep wet for a week, but not necessary in this weather.
Is that hot and humid? I live in the midwest and the construction company that redid my neighbor's driveway said he had to keep it wet on top for 7 to 10 days.
Thanks for the reply. Great work too. I watched you do the raised bed and really like that.
Do you add a curing compound?
Tomas Evaristo
depending on weather condition
So no mesh when using 3/4 rock? Thats good to.know, about how big is this area?
10' x 20' and it has fiber mesh
Dave what is that 14 inch steel trowel that swivels on a pole handle called
I looked it up it is a funny trowel LOL hahahahah
I need a rv driveway in north Illinois do you work in this area?
i wish
3 days until they can park the RV on the concrete?
Soumds good
what tipe of concrete you used for this job
3000 psi
5:28 Guys, why did the guy make a straight whole as line? What is it for? Reinforcement or just asthetic value?
Thats a crack control joint
So that "joint" stabilizes the foundation and prevents cracks?
From 0 to 100
No.
It weakens the concrete, so the concrete will crack in a straight controlled location.
How much did the concrete cost? I assume you purchased it from a company and that truck isn't yours...?
richardvg03
750.00
What about the area between the sidewalk and the road?
Its already concrete
is there any reason Y'all don't use a gravel base?
No need here where its beach weather everyday
dont u order 5- 10 % extra in case you are short?
mundo b49
yes
Do h need any permit to do that
no
Do u have General Insurance .people keep asking if i have insurance which is the best one to have for HOAs or in general. Pls help anyone
car insurance
@@OdellCompleteConcrete so its general insurance that i need right...
not mandatory

I am curious as to why you used the edger twice then floated out those margins you created.
No request for shiners
Sorry, don't understand what you mean.
I guess I don't either.
nice work anyway

is a rocker the same as a worm gear?
Andrew Kokkila
worm gear is probably better because it holds the weight better?
Thanks .
What's the cost for something like this?
3200
I will be putting down a long driveway, roughly 100 ft by 20ft, from the front of my house to the back of my house. I will also be parking my boat and 9500lb truck on it. I was planning on putting in a vehicle lift on the concrete. I know I will need to increase depth of the concrete and psi, but which would be best?
Abel Wrate
no problem .
my basic design will hold it.
Abel Wrate
5 inches 3000 psi
Odell Complete Concrete thank you
No hard core no type one mot but it's does look good

TY
How do you order the concrete?
By feet, yard o how?

How many square feet is a yard?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete
I mean, how many yards I need for a 20x20 space?

How much was the final cost?

don't need rebar?
Its optional
No mesh and straight on the dirt..? Never get away with that in Australia or NZ
Why not is your concrete no good
No rebar???? I wonder how long that’ll last
A Lifetime
why wouldn't you use a bobcat to get it on grade??
mike 007
ground soft.
didn't want to make alot of trips over edge of concrete and risk more damage
That's why you put plywood down, alot cheaper than man hrs for sure.
