Over 30 years in business, I've poured thousands of driveways. Watching them made me remember the days of using the come along, pulling your guts out, when the chute man piles it way too high. 100 degrees and it's blowing up on you faster than you can float it down. ugh! It's the only trade in construction that won't allow you to eat a normal lunch or more than a couple minutes to rehydrate. Many have tried, but few can handle the amount of physical work. I'm retired, living the good life now, but I'll never forget the sound of that drum tumbling and the concrete sliding down the chute!
the first time i walked in scaffolding i was 10 years old 12 meters height(39.37007874 feet) since then i work in constructions...driveway is my breakfast :)
Billy Smith lol my girls father is one.....he's been doing it for 27 years now....delivery driver jobs especially UPS ain't no joke....used to haul for a meat packing plant, ridiculous what those boxes weigh....have helped my friend who's a contractor pour concrete once....yeah after that, I think I'll stick to truck/delivery driving...both equally hard jobs nonetheless....but I love being behind the wheel and meeting new people and seeing my usual customers...I'm not the home construction type of guy.
it's honorable work and you cant think about the shitty miserable world around you when you are trying to get another breath in your lungs or your back hurts like hell. but that one cold beer takes it all away! . bless you!
this is my daily bread and butter....I take my hat off to all concrete slayers world wide....it is back breaking, hard work,concentration,100% commitment ....ART
And THAT is why it costs so much to put in a concrete driveway, there's a LOT of work and skill involved. Nice job on the driveway and the video, and the music was a great choice.
These guys are good. I can't tell you enough how valuable it is to have a good eye for moving mud around like that, let alone the stamina. I poured/finished many driveways and sidewalks in the Florida sun. Im retired now, and I watch this and it brings back memories.
I worked masonry for 8 years from the age of 15 to 23. we dug foundations, set steel, poured slabs and everything else along with brick block and stone all in the Florida sun. A mason did it all back then. Can't say I miss those days. I still have all my tools and pour when I want to because I want to. I was really impressed how well you guys worked together and especially how well your guy worked the come a long. Nice edging and design work with the broom. Real pleasure to watch your video.
I have to admit, it put a big smile on my face when I saw you guys putting that white cure agent. Too many people don't understand the importance of curing concrete properly. Great job. You guys definitely knew what you were doing.
+todd baker Yes it is supposed to be. You are supposed to lift it up during pouring with a hooked rod, and it will stay in place. As the concrete (although wet) will keep it in place.
Enjoyed the video very much, have no need for concrete work but now I have a better understanding of how its done. Definitely going to use a pro like Sciulli in the future if I need work done.
The last process at the finishing stage of concrete is an application of a white epoxy curing agent. It slows the curing process which enables its strength, durability, and retains its moisture contents for a good duration period. It cures at a slower rate. Once you wait 12-24 hours, you then apply with a water hose a slow even mist of water onto the concrete about 3 times a day for about 5 mins (breakfast, lunch, dinner lets say, for 3 days day after the pour on mon, wed, fri) and yet therefore it gives the concrete the right amount of time to harden developing a sufficient curing stage, allowing it to breath, expel and retain air and heat and contain its moisture density upon graduating to its full development process of a concrete compound to fully cure. (28-30 days curing)
nice job on this! me and my dad are attempting to do the driveway ourselves and so i'm doing a lot of research first. thanks for the videos it's really helpful.
oh it's done, it was hard ass work. the guys pouring the concrete prob felt sorry for my ass so they helped us out and we paid them extra. XD turned out pretty good. :D
its a good job once uknow what your doing and you have a good team.. yes at times it is physically hard work.. but looking at the end result is a good feeling. and the cold beer afterwards tastes like heaven. 😉😉
Really liked the finish... but, shouldn't you be pouring a 5" slab for driveway, use #4 rebar, and have several expansion joints given the length of the pour? By the way, you guys work hard! Amazing job setting 15 yards of concrete! looks great. thanks for the video... love the music too!
This is back breaking work and mentally straining as well. Literally the only work that I hired out for was having my basement floor poured. Awesome job here
that's an extremely nice mix that driver whipped up! not too stiff yet it wasn't so wet that I would think the concrete would be weakened. very good job!
Hi, your work ethic is amazing. Two things I wanted to know, what is the guy spraying over the surface at the end, and is there a way to hand mix the concrete and pour it down by hand?
if you're not wheelbarrowing it over rough terrain or shoveling/shoving thick concrete over massive distances, then calling concrete hard work is a RIDICULOUS JOKE.
kreteman777 Just poured 15.5 yards of 4.5" slump today with one helper. 20 feet of sidewalk and 30 lineal feet of driveway. Had to fill up 6x 8" tubes with concrete and finish around all of them. Coarse aggregate mix. weather at 75-85 degrees with significant winds. Concrete was mostly unshaded. Oh. and 4 hours of sleep. Was very unpleasant, mind you.
man try pouring and finishing concrete like that in phx az..where its 110 degree at night lol.. if ur a finisher in az u will a+ any job in any state...
WOW. This is interesting. I need to add another parking concrete slab to my drive way. I don't like parking my truck on the grass anymore, especially when my other 2 vehicles are taking up the drive way and when it rains..lol
Nice work. What product was used to seal the concrete? If this was in an area where it freezes, would you use a fiber based concrete with a special additive?
I have a question for you guys great video. But what's that tool you used at 4:26 to finish the concrete you'd screted? It looked like you used a bull float extender with some sort of tool on the end...?
How many inches do to lay on ground before pouring the concrete? How do you cure concrete? How many days before you can drive on the new concrete? Thanks Abad
Just started concreting today and there is 6 of us moving the concrete around from truck but only one has the long scraping tool the rest of us use little shovels, is this normal wouldnt everyone having that long scraper tool be better? i found it so hard moving it around with a shovel
Nice job! I couldn't do that job as that soothing sound of the smoothing of the concrete puts me to sleep. Want it torn up I'm your guy. What was the spray at the end? A sealant?
Dominic Sciulli if that is a sealer, it doesn't look like even coverage. Does that matter? Great vid, make it look so easy that it makes me think I could do it!
I play around with concrete some just curious how you just keep going and dont wait for particular timing of the concrete? Great job! Also whats a good brand 4 ft bullfloat and finish broom i gotta get both mine are wore out ?
It would be smart to have a rear view/facing camera on the mixer truck so hand signal will be seen from directly behind the truck. It just seems like it'd be easier to communicate like that with a monitor inside the truck.
Well I don't know shit about concrete but that looked like an expert job to me! Nicely filmed and presented too.If I lived in Pittsburgh and needed a job like that doing you'd be getting the phone call :D
Depends on the thickness, @ 4" thick you can go 2.5 times its depth, so a 10by10 would be the biggest slab you would want, sometimes adding a center groove adds a little curb appeal
Man I'm so happy we don't have rear end loaders around here. It would suck having a guy dedicated to swinging the chute. There is one rear end loader here that sits in front of the IMI plant and is painted like a football. Oh, and what the heck was that rollerbug looking thing you used before bull floating it and what does it do?
when you pour concrete best if you know what you doing, if not you can get yourself in a doublebarrel bind. its hard work, but these guys make it look easy, but dont be fooled, they are pros.
I am a concrete contractor in Columbus, Ohio. What is the tool you used on the concrete before you Bull Floated or Darbied. It looks like some type of roller. Never seen that before. Love the video. Great Job!
called a roller bug been using for 10 years knocks down the gravel on top for better protection and for putting finish design on concrete lot of paste highly recommend makes finishing alot easier
Dominic Sciulli saves tone of time n' effort, rather than using old fashioned jitter bugs or vibrators, gotta love that invention.......awesome job...V. LoDato BAC Local 4
It's called a roller bug it pushes all of the rocks inside the concrete down so you can't see it under the finish design My dads a concerter in Australia nsw I'm only 14

I love hard work. I can sit and watch it all day.
+DwightMS1 LMAO! Oh the Irony...I'm surprised nobody has commented on that Gem of a comment yet...
I think the irony was intentional.
OU812 Yeah, it was intentional which is why it makes it so great!
DwightMS1 me too!! me too!! lol
This is the best concrete video on TH-cam. All the fly by night concrete guys here need to watch this.
These are men who clearly understand fluid dynamics, and that truly makes them worthy people.
And THAT is why it costs so much to put in a concrete driveway, there's a LOT of work and skill involved.
Nice job on the driveway and the video, and the music was a great choice.
man it seems that one guy does everything. he needs a big raise.
Nice try Bob, now get back to work Sciulli is looking for you.
tyler norton he did the grunt work. He's the boss now and gets to do the "easy" stuff.
there is something so peaceful about watching flatwork. It's like a concrete ballet!
Looks like a very professional job. I don't even live in the same country or need a driveway done, but good to see craftsmen at work.
I'm getting ready to have a new concrete driveway installed, so it was really interesting to see how it's done.
Wow your'll make it look like an art rather than just a Pavement work ...... WELL DONE Love the way you do your job : )
I'll bet that was a very long day. These guys are bad ass.
very nice. not a word said between the 3 of ya. Thats how you know they have been at it for a long time.

Nice job...shows you how a good experienced crew working together can take the "hard" out of work

It's nice to see a driver out helping with the concrete. It's spring time. Guess I'd better get a new pair . Good job guys
This is when you take pride in what you do. This isn't the typical team. Great job.
Great to see people who work hard and do the job with such care and absolute professionalism.
2 things the Italian people know better than anyone, Pizza and Concrete! Respect!
A good concrete placer is worth his weight in Gold. You guy's ARE GOOD.
Darryl Kennedy that concrete is equally worth it's weight in gold...Literally....I prefer slag, it's cheap, and I CAN DO IT MUHSELF.
The Swamp Fox that's what she said
So, how does the truck get out?
I love hard work... I could watch it all day
now THIS is art. i could watch this for hours.
I am glad we have front end dis charges here!!! haven't seen a rear in awile unless its remote controlled
I have to admit, it put a big smile on my face when I saw you guys putting that white cure agent. Too many people don't understand the importance of curing concrete properly. Great job. You guys definitely knew what you were doing.
Here in Ireland we don't use that cos it's never drys out that fast to crack
+eamonn cooper do you use four leaf clovers
nice work fellas,,fixing to tackle this project this Friday .Thanks for the video..
These guys are good. I didn't see any big problems in how they work.
I kinda thought the steel mesh was supposed to be in the middle of the mix. Awesome work. I watched it again at 2X speed. LOL
+todd baker Yes it is supposed to be. You are supposed to lift it up during pouring with a hooked rod, and it will stay in place. As the concrete (although wet) will keep it in place.
you guys are truly the real deal rally helpful vids do show some more in the future pls
Yall guys are pro, some legit work right there I must say
Love the music! Cool video! Thanks for posting. I'm pouring a concrete ramp today butting up against my new Tuff Shed exit door.
Enjoyed the video very much, have no need for concrete work but now I have a better understanding of how its done. Definitely going to use a pro like Sciulli in the future if I need work done.
You guys earn every penny. 👍🏼👍🏼
I love the tidbits of info you can pickup on youtube.

please don't attempt it mimi
oh it's done, it was hard ass work. the guys pouring the concrete prob felt sorry for my ass so they helped us out and we paid them extra. XD turned out pretty good. :D
Good Video. You have convinced me there is no way I can do this myself. I better hire a pro.
Top job lads..as always preparation not perspiration is the key
You guys make this look easy....true talent.
its a good job once uknow what your doing and you have a good team.. yes at times it is physically hard work.. but looking at the end result is a good feeling. and the cold beer afterwards tastes like heaven. 😉😉
These guys are good. Everybody knows their role here. Good crew!
Outstanding display of your craft, skill and attention to detail. Well done gentlemen.
Really liked the finish... but, shouldn't you be pouring a 5" slab for driveway, use #4 rebar, and have several expansion joints given the length of the pour?

thanks for the video... love the music too!
Very nice jobs guys
SILVI CONCRETE BAPS POUR - DOCUMENTARY
Awesome concrete video
very nice work. Haven't seen curing agent used in forever, at least around the Detroit area. . .
wow, great job guys. I saw 3 maybe 4 guys in the video. some jobs of the same size I would see 10.
Beautiful work guys that was a smooth job.
This is back breaking work and mentally straining as well. Literally the only work that I hired out for was having my basement floor poured. Awesome job here
that's an extremely nice mix that driver whipped up! not too stiff yet it wasn't so wet that I would think the concrete would be weakened. very good job!
Great demonstration. Nice work.
What is up with the guy with the new boots !!!!!! and just want to say that you guys rock and you spread the concrete like creme cheese !!!!!! amazing
Hi, your work ethic is amazing. Two things I wanted to know, what is the guy spraying over the surface at the end, and is there a way to hand mix the concrete and pour it down by hand?
These guys really know their stuff, impressive video!
You guys did a great job! I am looking at a home that has a pole barn with a unfinished interior floor.
These doods have amazing strength and stamina even though they got beer bellies. I'm very impressed!
if you're not wheelbarrowing it over rough terrain or shoveling/shoving thick concrete over massive distances, then calling concrete hard work is a RIDICULOUS JOKE.
You are a complete stooge if you think concrete work isn't hard. YOU wouldn't make it through 1 damn day on the job.
kreteman777

man try pouring and finishing concrete like that in phx az..where its 110 degree at night lol..
if ur a finisher in az u will a+ any job in any state...
At moment 3:58 of the video, what is the name of the tool used for the performance (tool that is similar to two rollers).
depends whats already there if its dirt then you need gravel main thing is it needs to be solid underneath
TEAM WORK..SKILLS..EXPERIENCE... makes every job look easy- ITS GRUNTWORK and will give a normal man a coronary
I used to this this with my dad back when i was 16 and you guys made it look harder than it is
Now that is an awesome Driver!!!
Great Job Sciulli ! Excelent Finish product.
what is typically used & done for a sub-base under the concrete slab? Great Video By The Way!!!!!!!
WOW. This is interesting. I need to add another parking concrete slab to my drive way. I don't like parking my truck on the grass anymore, especially when my other 2 vehicles are taking up the drive way and when it rains..lol
Bloody brilliant lads, well done on a great job.
Really informative video, very professional job; thanks for sharing.
that sure is a long driveway and a lot of concrete! great job!
That's not a lot of concrete. that's actually small. It's a shame it took them more than one pour to finish it. Time is money.
redd1911 it was only 2 guys that's fine workmanship
redd1911 You can only load 10 cubic yds on a concrete mixer. That driveway took more than 10 yds
you guys are great!!! you make it an art form...amazing work, also wonderful music selection.
That feels so fulfilling to watch it :D
Awesome. All I need now is a driveway.
Not sure but at the end when guy was putting lines in concrete the tool he used also rounded the edge to what's it called ?
Everything Used Big is smart, really like the roller to get the cream up.
Nice work. What product was used to seal the concrete? If this was in an area

I have a question for you guys great video. But what's that tool you used at 4:26 to finish the concrete you'd screted? It looked like you used a bull float extender with some sort of tool on the end...?
Ryan Hansen It's a "Roller bug". I want one but I live on a small island and they are not available here
+Big Bruv you know they do have this thing called the world wide web. you can order it through that
This was great to watch and very informative, esp the finishing work. Good music choice too very fitting.
Abestar123 enjoyed this too. I have little patch I am going to try to do using this method so thanks for the vid.
How many inches do to lay on ground before pouring the concrete? How do you cure concrete? How many days before you can drive on the new concrete? Thanks Abad

yes a sealer
Thanks.

wcresponder yes a sealer it did go on even just didnt look like it on video for some reason
What brand of sealer do you use - and does it function to help it cure properly by holding the moisture IN?
I play around with concrete some just curious how you just keep going and dont wait for particular timing of the concrete? Great job! Also whats a good brand 4 ft bullfloat and finish broom i gotta get both mine are wore out ?
Thanks, I really enjoyed watching.

We use to use diesel and oil mix for the finish coat what are you using?

the jitter bug roller kind of brings up the paste and embeds the aggregate deeper in the concrete. making it stronger and easier to finish
Thanks for attributing the music's source. And thanks for the video--educational for my little one :)
Looks good. I would have thrown tool joint down the center, but that's me.
I'm a finisher in Oregon. Not bad video for a person to know how it's done
