My mother died three weeks ago, we grew up with Cohen's songs, they were our lullabies. I saw Cohen in a restaurant in LA a couple of years ago (we are New Zealanders) and asked him for his autograph, I asked him to sign it to Prue (Gar) as she had made him our man. At her funeral 300+ of us sang along to your version of the song, it was so, so, so lovely. The grandchildren wanted to say something, one of the boys just listed what Gar meant to him, his first line was So long, Marianne. Thank you....she would have loved to have been there...and we will always have this.

Hello all of you beautiful people! I am a singer/songwriter from Provincetown , MA. All I really want to say to you all is "Thank You!" I am so moved by your AWESOMENESS! Much love, Karen Maloney
Being powerless before a woman you will always love. There is always that one person in your life, you may not even be with them any longer but you would do anything for them.
Good job....best rendition. Really classy job. In an era where our ears are just used industrial waste music, this is ear and as well as heart warming. Leonard Cohen cannot die.
Believe it or not, the very first time I ever heard this song was when Jason Castro sang it on American Idol a few seasons back, and I just fell in love with it! Hauntingly beautiful, I could listen to this version over and over again. How wonderfully talented you guys are!! =D
KD Lang's version is amazing (particularly her live performance from the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics). But, yeah, this choir! choir! choir! rendition is pretty damn awesome.
I sing in two choirs and sang this one in both It gives me great joy to share music and voice Thank you to this wonderful choir for sharing music and voice
I am usually a purist when it comes to songs I love. To me, there is no popular cover of this song that is better than Leonard Cohen's original. However, this rendition gave me almost as many chills when I heard it as Mr. Cohen's version does . Definitely worth the listen. Thank you. All of you.
Amazing, and nothing short of it. I really wish I knew how to possibly get into this group! It looks like a bunch of fun and a great time all around! :)
If you live in Toronto, come out and join us. No auditions. No commitments. $5 at the door, pay as you go; come as you please. Make friends with Choir Singerman on FB and look for event invites over the weekend. You'll get the arrangement when you arrive. Sing!
Totally love the sound you guys make. Discovered u on youtube only recently, but have listened to loads of your songs. Shame youre in Canada or id want to join!
It all depends on who walks thru the door. We are not an auditioned choir. We are a casual choir; what you see is the product of only a few hours practice. None of us get the arrangement until we get there. We actually got word back (thru a family friend) from Leonard Cohen that he likes our performance!
From the original. Leonard Cohen wrote several verses that don't make it into most popular versions. Really all the well known covers are actually covers of Jeff Buckley's version specifically. We sang this video's version when I was in choir.
where is the the lyrics of this song,,its different i guess from the original one,,can somebody help me,,ill be using this version to my activity at school,,
Hey guys, could you please post a version of the whole song? I believe there are 26 verses to it. Because of time limitations on radio we never hear the complete song. I love the message, but I really need to hear the whole song. Maybe you could invite KD to solo the whole song with this choir, Please?

That's it. I'm moving to Canada.
Simply beautiful. The blond headed woman on the left front was also in that position during the singing of Africa by Toto, I do believe.
singing makes the world a little bit better....thanks LC......
This is what we all need today and every day........becoming emotional works wonders for the soul..
I've watched this a million times and it's still perfect
no you literally didn't lol

Lovely, the World needs more of this
Bar none...this is by far the best rendition of this wonderful song! I listen to it every few months and love it every time.
Paul H Like it immensely, but KD Lang's version at the closing ceremonies in Vancouver beats this by a mile.
Paul Miazga Nah, I like the Choir Choir version much better! :)

Words do not suffice but maybe AWESOME!
lovely. Just to feel the feeling
Almost all covers of this song are really covers of Jeff Buckley's version. I love that this hearkens back to Leonard Cohen's original.
You are right Laura, you can really hear Cohen in this!!
What are the major differences?

You guys sound wonderful! Your harmonies are tight. Just wish there was more lower register. Great job!
It all depends on who walks thru the door. We are not an auditioned choir. We are a casual choir; what you see is the product of only a few hours practice. Chris Chin Great work!
I expected to hate this version.... I didn't. It's far more Cohen than Buckley which was the right direction to go. Good job!
J ADORE
2:02 ''You say I took your name in vain..'' etc.. where's this lyric from?
From the original. Leonard Cohen wrote several verses that don't make it into most popular versions. Really all the well known covers are actually covers of Jeff Buckley's version specifically.
We sang this video's version when I was in choir.
Amazing. And 38 people were deaf again.
I love youuuuu!!!
