Any suggestions or tips for us as we begin looking for houses/homesteads is ABSOLUTELY welcomed. You know any other sustainable ways to save money when creating a home? Let us know! We SO appreciate you and are so happy to be here weekly again! :)

Thank you for sharing the news and updates. I love the whole background behind becoming, officially, The Dürt family. Re/ sustainable homes … check the state/city/county where you are landing because more and more areas are providing money and tax incentives for homeowners to go green with their energy … solar panels for home energy etc. And that used to be very expensive but like I mentioned; many places are catching onto the importance of making sustainable energy a priority … in MN/WI there are many counties which will pay/give credits for people to place solar panels on their homes basically for free. And of course composting and rain water barrels and all sorts of things you probably know more about than I do!
I also love the beautiful books that can be found at thrift/second hand/repurposing shops and areas.
Good luck on your journey to your new home! Sending all my love. ☮️❤️🌷

Just remember with a new home you need to plant an apricot and apple tree. Both these trees will prov8de fresh fruits that you can use in many ways. They are also ways greeting family and friends. As for the inside of the home try and find wooden furniture from thrift stores . Solid wood furniture achors the home plant a mixer of flowers and fruits and vegetables around the outside of the home which will provide you with fresh food year round. Mix in some mint plants which will keep ticks and other animals away also garlic. These are also great additions to cooking and health benefits. Mint has great vitamins and can be added to salads or made in jellies and teas

    Congratulations on your new names!
I have reservations about writing this, but here goes. First, stop thinking this has to be a difficult or challenging time. Tune into your spiritual source/family, and ask for guidance. This is how my husband and I have always done it. When looking for a home - to live in, or for rental property - we talk about what we want in general. Then we call a realtor, and give our requirements. The realtor looks for options for us and schedules showings, maybe a total of 6-8, over a two day period. We ALWAYS find the house we'll buy within those houses we look at.
Back in 1976, when we decided to live on a sailboat, I contacted a broker, told him our requirements, and he sent paperwork. He was in Florida, we were living in Michigan, and one of the boats was called Tropic Moon (a 42-ft., steel-hulled ketch), that was located in Grenada in the southern Caribbean. It was the only boat we looked at, and it was our home for 14 years. We buy used cars this way. When I go in a bookstore, I ask my spirit guide to lead me to the books I'm meant to buy, and I walk right up to them. That's not to say there isn't plenty of hard work ahead of you to make your dreams come true, but if you can understand how guided you are, and what a resource you have with your spirit family, it makes decisions a lot easier. We never have the attitude - if we keep looking, we might find something better. We pick something that will work for us, and then do the work to improve it and make it ours.
If I were in your current situation, I'd look for property that has an extra building or two on the land and set them up for Airbnb, or something similar. We've never done that, but from what I hear, it sounds like a way to practically print money. Unless you're taking outside employment, this might be a way to generate income while you're developing your property. And since you're such friendly people, I could see this working for you.
Well, you asked!! 😉I wish you the best.

    • @thedurtfamily
      @thedurtfamily  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Jean, I am SOOOOO happy you took the time to offer this advice. Wow. I really need to know more about you and your life. You don't happen to share your story online at all, do you?
We definitely allowed our intuition lead the way in this process. I did a TON of research on the homes I wanted to check out, but it wasn't until we were physically in the space that we could emotionally and spiritually know what was right. By the way, we found one! We put in an offer. It was so easy, we knew right away. More details in our newest video that goes live in a bit.
Also, we soooo were interested in a property that had a second building and we thought it would be perfect for AirBnB or to host any farming volunteers. But it was in shambles. So, for our home that we put an offer in, we are hoping to find a small cabin shed to convert and turn into a little place for guests and volunteers and and airbnb hosts to sleep in.
Anyway, keep the advice coming! We MUST know more about your life!!!

Oh my gosh I couldn’t even wait to watch to the end to start commenting! I LOVE everything about this video! I love everything “old” or “previously loved”. My mother’s favorite stores were the thrift stores and she had the prettiest tablescapes and most welcoming and comfortable beds with mismatched sheets and quilts and charming pillows. I have recently started buying thrift items to use the fabric for sewing “new” and useful items. AND WHY do we need new stuff?? Our planet needs our TLC so bad! 😢 Keep sharing your story and thrift hauls! Love you guys! Safe travels, your fan from Omaha ❤

The most important thing to me about "you create your reality" is not letting other people live your life for you.
some people try to impose on us what the ideal life according to them would be, and until we realize that we are living for others and not for ourselves, how much time has passed?

Greetings from Chiapas, México. Greetings Durt family! I love your new name andI love your idea of upcycling and thrifting things. I'm an old queer, Yes a boomer, but I've always thrifted and I always found second hand finds much more interesting. Besides I think society, in general has crapped on the world enough. I'm sure you've seen the docus about fast fashion and how all these bales of clothing end up by the shipload in Africa and Southeast Asia. After picking over the "best cloths" the unwanted, discarded apparel comes to rest in THEIR landfills or worse, the once pristine beaches, rivers et al. Anyhow I just love your philosophy. I so hope you continue. Good luck on your new adventure. With your positive outlook you'll make friends that are your family wherever you go. P. S. From the short glimpse I got from the lace pillow... I believe the under pillow fabric looks to be more of a 50s design. I'm not positive though.

You would be surprised how many people on here go to the "BINS" and resell the items to make a living.

I’ve actually looked up a few of the things I’ve purchase and found that they sell for over a hundred dollars online!

Congrats on the name changes and now you get to deal with social security admin to get new SS cards and the dmv for new licenses. More of a Hassel but once done it's done. Travel safely and make beautiful paths

I get the name change, but "Durt"? Might you not regret this in 20 years? Some less in your face, such as "Terra" might ultimately be better.

I don't think we will. We've been using this name for us for over a decade, so not much has changed for us. It's just officially legal now.
