    well UP said that it was slow because it was a Sunday and the first day of the year. But on a week day they said you can see around 15-20 trains.

      Okay, thanks. I remember visiting Tehachapi about 3 years ago and saw a train every 20-30 minutes. Sounds like it's about a train every hour or so now?

      I like Tehachapi in the winter because the hills are green. If I want scenery than i would go to tehachapi but if i want a lot of trains than i would go to Cajon Pass.

      In the Southen Sierras, the average elevation is around 5,000 feet and giving that this part of the Sierras in near Southern Califonia area it is safe to say that this part of the sierras gets much less snow than mountains in the North. But to answer your question, yes that is a southern California snowfall
