No use of lamenting upon their absence after they leave. Thankfully , Gulzar ji is amongst us and all his fans would want him to live for another 100 years. Let us give him his due.

If I recollect it correctly, I watched Guddi in 1977 or '78 when we used to go to neighbor's house to watch vaccum tube TV (not solid state TV). Life was so different then when we grew up in the 70s. Feeling sad today to find that Vani Jairam was the singer and now is no more. Rest in Peace Vani Jairam Ji!.

Recently read that this was the first song sung by Vaniji in her career (Tamil songs later than this). I'm from remote TN and now I wonder I have listened this song in my childhood (70s) in the radio. Music & composing have been energetic (thanks to Desaiji).

Major credit should go to music director Vasant Desai for transforming such prosaic lyrics into a melodious thought provoking song. Credit should also be given to Gulzar Vani Jayaram ( debut song) for her impeccable Hindi diction Inspite of belonging to Southern India , Hrishikesh Mukherjee Producer N C Sippy and Jaya Bhaduri/ Bachchan! Sadly such songs are somehow avoided at present by biased Bollywood
Sadly this was not Vani s debut song. It was Hari Bin kaise jiyoon re a Meera bhajan not included in the film but it is in the album
