Fatal Fury Anime inspired me to create an fighting game turned Anime idea when was in Nigeria
I'm sad they didn’t pick up that storyline in the Fatal Fury movie. Geese Howard’s whole revenge arc had so much potential after Terry beat Krauser. It felt like it was building up to something epic.
Plus imagine if they continued all the way up to Garou!

That is a great idea, but unfortunately it seems difficult to afford given SNK's particular situation. It's a smaller company than Capcom, the game is much less known than SF, and the devs are already working a lot to offer extra content beyond the obvious... which is a lot for SNK (that isn't even used to make mini games for a lot of their games). And even Capcom doesn't use anime in all their fgs. Actually no other fg company is using anime anymore.
Don't think SNK could afford to do that, I'd be happy if we could get some illustrations similar to the ones in Mark of the Wolves which were drawn by Tonko and other artists
@@pablocasas5906 gotta spend money to make money. And in this case when the whole franchise is the main product, they should invest the same amount they're spending on everything's else related (animes, action figures or whatever) as they're spending on the game development.
It's a mistake considering the game as the only product for sale. IT SHOULD'VE BEEN THE FRANCHISE, WHO HAS THE GAME, THE ANIME, THE MANGA, THE ACTION FIGURES, THE FEATURES ON OTHER PIECES OF MEDIA AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
@@NegoClau I don't disagree with some of those points... but it's just that the situation is more complicated. Yes, FF is the focus at the moment, but that can't erase the fact that the biggest franchise is KOF in success and name. FF must have a solid legacy behind that name but it was actually buried for around 25 years, and right now there are multiple generations of "SNK fans" who grew with only KOF, and FF was already dead. So KOF's name will naturally always be the highlight and the center of the general marketing, merch, etc.
At this exact moment it's unclear if FF is worth investment in things like anime, toys, etc. (Now manga is more affordable and i really think it should have been made as a warm up before the release)
The situation is different from Capcom reviving SF4: SF is the most important and famous fg franchise of all time, so it's natural to go all out in marketing, multimedia projects, different kinds of merch, etc. There are totally guaranteed returns about investing that way in SF... but it isn't exactly the same about SNK with FF, sadly.
Been waiting for Obari's Fatal Fury 3, or Real Bout for decades.
People also forgotten Obari's snk fighting game made by snk Voltage Fighter Gowkaizer. Obari has a lot of history with snk and im glad Obari is doing work with snk again!!
If only we can get at least an OVA
It’s tough. Not even Capcom with all their money is pushing for a Street Fighter anime. SNK having less resources, much less. I even think the upcoming Guilty Gear anime is gonna be a flop, because it’s story is so confusing, only the 100 lore fans will watch it.
Went from once not liking Obari's Fatal Fury art style to thinking nobody BUT Obari should ever do Fatal Fury anime. Don't need to see nothin', I'm hyped.
I would love a series of movies by Masami Obari depicting the story of Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury 3, Real Bout Fatal Fury, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2, and Garou: MOTW. It'll be a perfect way to explain the newcomers of Fatal Fury the story of the franchise.
I would love to see KoF and AoF too.

I think Geese can return to be a playable character in the game but continue dead in the storyline. He could be a "non storyline/non canon" character.
I wonder if they'll even make a new song to go along with the short. If they do, a remake of Oh Angel would be so good
SNK give this man Obari budget to create a new trilogy of fatal fury films that continue the storyline of the original trilogy!!!
Even if they mess this up we always have the first two original 90's anime movies.

First of all, 3 Years Ago Masami Obari is doing a great job on doing the Anime Short of The King of Fighters XV before the game has been released and It was good and like you said Nabil that We need The King of Fighters Anime Series or Movies if it needs to be longer and all! Even Though Mr. Obari would comeback to SNK to do New Anime like Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown and The King of Fighters! However I just seen the tweet of the First Look at the New Anime Short of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves which features Terry Bogard and Geese Howard, Love It! And I want to say a Job Well Done to Mr. Obari and Happy Birthday! And to remind doing a New Fatal Fury Anime Reboot or Revival. Everybody watches Fatal Fury Movies in the 90’s, So Fatal Fury deserves New Anime Series or Movies which takes place in the events of Fatal Fury 1, 2, 3, Real Bout and Garou: Mark of the Wolves! Hope Mr. Obari would give us New SNK Anime Projects that needs to be in the works. Gotta say this new upcoming anime short looks good I give you that, Can’t wait to watch this when Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be released this April!
If not anime (because the costs are really a big deal), SNK could have comissioned at least a short manga that summarizes the whole FF lore. I think that's important, not only to highlight the storyline's value to the veteran fans, but to properly set the newbies in the current "MOTW" storyline.
It's not right to make a direct continuation sequel of a story started and left hanging in 1999... There must be a story recap that help the newbies to catch up and understand everything. And i think a manga would work well.

I just hope they use it like the game intro and not just dropped in the gallery like KOF XV
It could be a secondary opening, similar to the two openings in MOTW. The standard opening is an average looking one, using modern graphics, and the 2nd one could be in anime.
Any news on a Fatal Fury collection? CotW releases in April and it's almost Feb. What's taking SNK so long?

The market isn't primed for a new Fatal Fury anime unfortunately. This IP has been gone for 26 years, and fighting games don't rule the industry like they did when the earlier Fatal Fury animes came out. It's already a big enough risk that they're bringing back the game, let's not get greedy and sink a bunch of money into an anime movie before we see how the game sells.
Yes, not only game production but anime production has changed a lot a became more expensive since the 80s-90s. 2d anime has gone through a similar cycle of changes as in games, the high standards projects have been reduced to less options... usually the established franchises (ie One Piece), except a few brand new projects that look promising enough, like adapting a new famous manga (the boom of Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, etc). Nowadays even Capcom isnt confident about SF animes, and that means a lot... so their opinion hasn't changed even after the current SF6 success.
But i think SNK could be commissioning mangas and/or western comics based on FF, SS, KOF, etc. Now that's affordable and could be done in higher scale. I know there are recent (kind of) KOF mangas... but they could be a more fleshed out projects that aimed to appeal the veteran and introduce the world to a newbie, instead of too focused on the newest story.
Since a very long time i believe these characters and stories are good enough for manga/anime adaptations and can appeal to total outsiders to SNK. They just need the right vision, then those multimedia projects could have better potential to get newbies into the games.

Well, people at SNK have said that they would like to branch out into more multimedia projects, in the last ten or so years there was King of Fighters: Destiny CGI project done by a Chinese studio, and I think there was meant to be a sequel which would have introduced Iori, but there's not been any news about that for quite a long time. Nowadays it seems TV shows and movies based on video games in general are more popular than ever, I can imagine SNK making a Fatal Fury or King of Fighters anime series
@@pablocasas5906 That's correct, but only in part. There are truly more adaptations of many kinds of franchises and on different kinds of media, but anime (2d) adaptations are not growing as much, and those are usually done just for bigger franchises. 2d anime became more expensive than back then and these companies became more mindful about their investments. Like, even Capcom isn't investing in anime anymore and they own the biggest fg franchise.
So as much as i wanted to see 2d anime adaptations of SNK games (including SS and LB, that you didn't mention), the idea sadly doesn't seem practical or affordable right now. Maybe a short Ova someday... but i believe that would be saved for KOF, that is the biggest SNK game, and not FF, which is just coming back now.

@@ssppeeaarr Ehhh I don't think he's really gone. OG final bosses in video games never stay dead. They haunt dreams and they resurrect a lot, I think Geese, Bison, and Heihachi will continue to revive when they are needed to appease fans whose main is missing from the roster! We just need to make enough fuss and SNK will retcon anything... All we need is an orochi revival event in the FF canon and bam... baddies are back!
Besides, I've only seen Terry throw Geese of a high rise twice in the lore, he left him to burn on a rooftop once too but Geese survived that as well!!! I hear third times a charm!?
Maybe Geese will be smart and not fight Terry on a forty story high rise roof top next time LOL
