Breaks my heart knowing how much time and elbow grease you had in restoring those pieces. But … you’re blessed your home didn’t flood or get blown away. This is just an obstacle. I bet your cast iron will be in better shape than it was before. The lodge will be stronger too. This is a tough lesson but the Lord never puts more on you than you can handle. How you proceed from here is what I’m excited about. It’s gonna be better than before !!! Stella’s already said that she’s up for the challenge. One step at a time. Get the Lodge dried in and then one piece of cast iron at a time. Hang in there Buddy !!! 👍
So sorry about your devastation!!! So much work goes into cleaning and seasoning cast iron ! Could you put the solid sides on hinges and open when your in there and drop down when your not ! Seems like that would work to keep air coming in and keep weather out ! Just my suggestion, I know it’s heartbreaking! Blessings to you !
Oh no Tony! I’m so sorry this happened. I know you will get them back in tip top shape just take your time on step at a time. I know you have a plan in place. You have people that will watch every video of you getting everything back in shape. We all enjoy your videos so very much.
Oh Tony, I’m so sorry all your hard work got wiped out. 😢 About 15 years ago I was really into raising Phal orchids. For months I measured light, fertilizer, monitored watering on 19 orchids. Everyone of them had flower stems covered with buds. My mother had to have surgery on her hand so I decided to stay overnight with her about 5 miles from home. I was so caught up in taking care of her I didn’t pay attention to the weather report that night. We’re south of Charlotte, Nc. That night we had an unexpected cold snap and it hit freezing here. Had I known it, I would have asked my husband to pull the plants back from the windows inside the house but I didn’t know it. Every single bud dropped on every one of those 19 orchids. I was so heart broken. I have to admit that I stopped taking care of them properly and within 6 mo. Most of them were dead. Only recently has my interest returned and I again have 5 of them. You do so well with your cast iron I truly hope you don’t turn your back on your hobby. The pieces you do, look wonderful when you’re done and you have taken something worthless and truly made it beautiful and useful again. Pack most of it away for the time being and instead of looking at all the pieces, do only 2 or 3pieces at a time so it’s not so overwhelming. They will be waiting when you are up to working on them. 🫶🏼 to you both!
I'm sorry about what happened. I know we will all watch you get them all cleaned and seasoned. I also know you will figure out a great way to cover the windows for storms. Here is my idea, see that corrugated roofing material behind you? You can make a way to slide the roofing material into sleeves you put on the outside and just slide them in when it rains and slide them out when it is dry. That way the water will stay out (hopefully) and you can still have the windows open in dry weather. I think the owls are door stops.
Please don’t quit TH-cam Tony. I enjoy watching you clean your cast iron and watching your camping adventures with Stella. You can clean the cast iron again and I will be watching you again. I have learned how to clean my cast iron now thanks to you. God Bless.
I'm so sorry you had such a gut punch but the guy I've learned to know will come up with a plan and it will be better than it ever was! I can only imagine how you feel! You're going to get past this for sure!
That is so sad after all your hard work. Could you maybe make some Plastic roll down shades like they put on the side of greenhouses. That way when you aren't using it, you could roll them down to keep the weather out. That way you could roll them up and out of the way and still have all the airflow you need?
Please don’t quit. Keep your head up. Take a couple days reassess rethink about what it is. You need to do and get the wind back in your sale. I love your channel. You have such a positive attitude. Don’t lose it now. I know it’s hard.❤❤❤❤
I’m sorry to see the damage Tony it’s truly heartbreaking but I know you’ll figure out a way to improve the Lodge to keep it from happening again you have a great mind for building things ! I say take the pieces that you will use the most in your cooking for you , Stella and Catherine and start with them put the rest away for now ! You don’t have to be in a hurry to get them perfect shape like you had them all at once , take you time we aren’t going anywhere. When you think you might wanna use something for camping or for a new video take it out and do your magic but don’t forget to video it for us ok? Just a couple pieces at a time you can use for most your meals for your breakfasts, lunches , dinners that you share with us and after you fix up the lodge you can showpiece the rest at your leisure! As far as the Dutch oven for Jason and Brooke I’m certain they will be happy to have it whenever you have time to clean it up and it will mean all the more to them at that time , same with the piece you will fix again so beautiful for your other friend ! Hang in there and get the place fixed up so it can’t rain on your beautiful cast iron again and if you think just a few pieces in the lodge is better I think you’ll find a great place to put the rest like maybe some in the office at the range and other cool places as well! Thank you for being there for people on storm duty that didn’t go unnoticed either that’s important to everyone my friend! Hang in there keep doing what you do one video at a time I love whatever you do but more importantly that you enjoy it too! Biggest hugs and see you and Stella at the lodge , camping or wherever you are kind enough to share with us I don’t wanna catch you sitting at home now on the couch or something!!!!🤣🙏💙🩷 Nikki & Billyboots PS :we love the new merch and will be looking into having some of both you and Catherine’s awesome shirts and things so excited for that , we love you both 🙏❤️🐾 Those owls will be awesome bookends for some cast iron cook books right?!! So cool !!! Keep your humor Tony
Tony I am so sorry about all the hard work u have done on your cast iron can you put windows on henge an open them when you r in here or a shevel to put alot of them up high man you got this my heart goes out to u nerve give up man
Unless they are real Old Cast Iron sure there Bookends. But Way back when people used that kind thing to Hold Door Open I have a Modern one, stacked Pig Cow Chicken holds my Door open Love to let the Fresh air in also used a Old Cast iron iron too was my Mother she used on wood stove.
Oh no, bummer. I feel your pain. As they say … How do you eat an elephant - one bite at a time. Maybe clear plastic side/window flaps that can roll up and down to keep rain out. And yes we use cast iron wax called BuzzyWaxx.
Oh no Tony. I’m so sorry. I really enjoy watching your channel so I hope you keep going. You have encouraged me to just keep going and not get caught sitting at home. You got this❤❤❤
Oh, Tony. So sorry for your cast iron was damaged. Praying for a quick recovery from your disappointment. Get in there a scrub. You'll be glad when it's done. Prayers and God bless.

We are so sorry that happened! I hate that you have to cover up the windows. Is there any way you could make a cover that you just put up when hurricanes or similar bad storms are coming? Praying for you!
Hey Tony my heart is breaking for you. I know how proud you are of your collection. 😂 😂😂 Maybe some of the rust is from moisture not just rain. I enjoyed seeing you and Stella at Petals. 😊😊
I can verify that the wind was indeed blowing the rain sideways at your house that night! I'm so sorry your hard work got messed up 😞 We have total faith that you will get that lodge buttoned up and that it will continue to be an amazing place to do what you love. You've got this! Stella will help 🙂 ❤ Chin up my friend, it'll all be okay! ❤
Hey, Tony, my friend! It breaks my heart to see and hear you so dejected! Please never give up! You have so incredibly much to offer to your family of subscribers! You teach, bring encouragement, laughter, joy, adventures, experiences, cooking, peace, hope...shall I continue? I love me some Tony (& Stella) Time! Look for the silver lining in all this. Hey, if you perfect The Lodge in just a couple of tries, you're smarter than Edison! It took him 5000 tries to perfect the light bulb 💡 Hey, buddy, I would sure love to interview you and Catherine for my livestream on Mondays. It's called Meet Me Monday and I go live @1pm Mountain/ 3pm Eastern each week. Love you, my friend ❤❤
So sorry about your cast iron Tony 😢 I know how frustrating that must be. But if anyone can get it all back in shape, it’s you friend !! We know you won’t be “caught sitting at home” pouting about rusty cast iron ! You’ll be “in the lodge with Stella” working your magic !!
That's terrible my friend, I'm so sorry. My thoughts are 1. Have a cast iron cleaning and seasoning party...1 person per pan. You can throw them into a 50 gallon drum that sets on a fire to heat up the pans so you can heat up quite a few at once....or have several folks bring grills. 2. Keep them displayed unless you are gonna get rain, if it's gonna rain move all the pans to tubs. Store them with an oil soaked paper towel wrapped around each pan. 3 put windows on hinges so they can lift up and be open.....or closed for heavy rains..... Just a few ideas. Wish I was closer I'd just set up a seasoning party and get it all back in 1 day, and build the windows on hinges for you. Those owls could be 2 things 1. Book ends like you said 2. Door stops.
I was going to suggest something along the line of the hinged windows also! The oil soaked paper towels are a great idea! I love your idea of a cleaning party too! (Tony may be a bit particular on how it's done though?) 😊
@LewisAcreFarm I thought about that....a party with food and Tony teaching every one how to properly season while walking around and adjusting anyone who needs extra assistance. Everything could be reseasoned in 5-6hrs.....quite a few folks get out and learn something and eat maybe burgers and hotdogs......make a day of it
Wanted to also say although we can't carry the pain and frustration this has caused we can carry you....when you put good out into the world it comes back 10 fold and you've put a lot of good out into the world!!
Tony. Would it help if I could come and help you build some small lean to roofs to help the blowing rain. I'm in Cullman but will come help on a weekend. Not sure if you have room off each open side.
Thank you so much for the offer. They are trees 🌴 on both sides of the lodge. I have a shutter idea that I think will work great. It’s very kind of you to offer your help. I’m great full but I think the shutters are going to work.
I'm so sorry all that hard work got reset. BUT it gave you a ton of stuff to use as content if you go about it right! Every step you take to redo the space is content! You might be able to make the windows open and close with the use of a simple frame that goes into place really easy over the windows. This way you can have your circulation and then easily seal out the rain when you aren't using the space. Just sealing it up will make cooking out there miserable.
Sorry, Tony!!! Maybe you could make hinged clear shutters?! Put them up when you're in there, then let them down and latch them when you aren't. Hinged window type shutters are used here in Florida on outside bars and things like that because tropical weather is a bit unpredictable! You could also lower them when it gets pretty cold out!! Maybe hinged windows panes.
Tony Tony Tony PRAYERS PRAYERS PRAYERS. Any One would feel like You Do. And Lets Not Forget You are wore Out being Out There working that Hurricane in weather and Come Home to see ALL you Love Kinda destroy,But No Not really Everything You had is there.. For You to make New again.. Just like God he see what Man has done to his Beautiful Paradise of Earth and he has to make it ALL New again.. But Like You it is One Day at a time.. We ALL Understand the heart break. But know You The Man that can get it just like New again. Yes Now we see we got another problem Hum didn't know was one but it like Termites Now You know been there all the time. But Now Got get rid of that Problem. I really have No real ideals for you the Open Lodge a place to cook and sit enjoy being outside was Perfect But we all know Cast Iron & Water Don't mix.. So Prayers Prayers You Get Some Rest. Sit give a Good Long Thought and Get It Done One Day One Piece at a Time.. Might could get tub used some kind oil soak the real rusty pieces in it till cleaning time?? I don't know something I would try and Guess What More Video content "Putting the Lodge Back Together".. Hugs Love & Prayers Brother
Yes it was disappointing your cast iron got wet. But people are safe and mother nature was mean. But you are so privileged to have all that cast iron ware. I have some that's been in my family for about 4 generations. And I think of my family everytime I use it. Put walls up that are removable when you're out there.
Couple of duck owners spilled their boat over at the boat ramp they lost what they had as their breakfast in a cast iron skill will later on when the. Tide went down I retrieve that skill it a week later. It was rusty but I've cleaned it up and I still use it today. So nothin lost.
How about some outside shades that you can raise & lower? Just a thought. You could keep it open, but cover with little effort. Have a way to hook or latch when they are down.
A couple of years ago my sink ran over and filled half my cast-iron with water. I had to reseason 8 peices (all big skillets and a wok as well as my 24 inch griddle) It only took 24 hours for the rust to appear. It's heartbreaking, but it's just a set back you power through.
So sorry this happened. Can you make shutters on the outside of the kitchen (like food trucks have) that you leave up and put down when a storm is coming.
Good idea - air tight totes or cabinets, also the clear panels that you have already sound like a good idea too. The owls are awesome 💗book ends or maybe even door stoppers??
I am sorry for sadness know you work so hard on you pot and pan s and it's so disappointing 😢but pick yourself up dust yourself off and start again but I would put your pans in tubs so it won't happen again❤❤😊smile start over again
Ok, its time for some tough love so don't take this the wrong way. First, quit being a cry baby, in this vid you are acting like a little child. Next, you have an open sided building with a storm coming and you didn't think rain would come in sideways when you get high winds, you knew better than this. And lastly, research storm shutters for your building, that way you can leave them open most of the time, but can shut them up when a bad rain is coming. I like the style that are hinged at the top and swing down to close. P.S. I do enjoy your vids, just put on your big boy pants and carry on.
Jerry, thanks for your comment. I’m researching different ideas for keeping the water out. Sometimes we all can use tough love and a little constructive criticism to help us get back on track. I have to believe that you have the best intentions with your tough love so I’m going to take your advice and suck it up. I’ll start working on the lodge this weekend and then start on the cast iron. Be safe.
I’m sorry buddy. But you know as well as I do you are not fixing to quit what you have found a passion for something in LIFE! It’s rare many people do! This page was not only for you but it’s also for all us, as well!! We are FAMILY‼️ I knew water and cast iron wasn’t going to mix but Tony Ray in the grand scheme of LIFE this is fixable!!!! YOU ARE A VERY INTELLIGENT, HARD WORKING and DETERMINED TH-camR/FRIEND TO US ALL‼️❤️💜💙🩷 We all wish we could physically come help you fix this problem but this is not feasible but WE ARE WITH YOU!!!! I wanted to give you time to work through your feelings about it and figure in which direction you needed to go to make THE LODGE more water proof…(I don’t have the answers but I do know any moisture or wetness will still make it rust.) When it gets to fall and winter you may have to pack the CAST IRON up in plastic containers in something dry like towels. Just a thought. But whatever you do….. IT WILL BE AWESOME!! We are with you 1000% and we thank you with everything we have! Shirts look great! Cheer up buddy! About 15 years ago I was really into raising Phal orchids. For months I measured light, fertilizer, monitored watering on 19 orchids. Everyone of them had flower stems covered with buds. My mother had to have surgery on her hand so I decided to stay overnight with her about 5 miles from home. This way you can have your circulation and then easily seal out the rain when you aren't using the space. Just sealing it up will make cooking out there miserable.
I agree. Definitely going to make something that will open.
I'm very sorry that that happened to you but the sooner you re-season the better off they're going to be and the easier it will be
I agree. Thank you
So sorry about the water damage😥 Could the owls be doorstops?
I’m not sure what they are but they’re beautiful.
Hold your head up! You have the knowledge to bring them back!
Thank you my friend
Sorry, Tony!!! Maybe you could make hinged clear shutters?! Put them up when you're in there, then let them down and latch them when you aren't. Hinged window type shutters are used here in Florida on outside bars and things like that because tropical weather is a bit unpredictable! You could also lower them when it gets pretty cold out!! Maybe hinged windows panes.
Great idea. I’m definitely gonna do something like that.

Thank you so much my friend. I’m grateful for the support of my TH-cam family
Yes it was disappointing your cast iron got wet. But people are safe and mother nature was mean. But you are so privileged to have all that cast iron ware. I have some that's been in my family for about 4 generations. And I think of my family everytime I use it. Put walls up that are removable when you're out there.
Thank you my friend
Couple of duck owners spilled their boat over at the boat ramp they lost what they had as their breakfast in a cast iron skill will later on when the. Tide went down I retrieve that skill it a week later.
It was rusty but I've cleaned it up and I still use it today.
So nothin lost.
How about some outside shades that you can raise & lower? Just a thought. You could keep it open, but cover with little effort. Have a way to hook or latch when they are down.
So sirry for the damage. 😢
About to get started on the fix. Thank you.
A couple of years ago my sink ran over and filled half my cast-iron with water. I had to reseason 8 peices (all big skillets and a wok as well as my 24 inch griddle) It only took 24 hours for the rust to appear. It's heartbreaking, but it's just a set back you power through.
The humidity was 100% or close to it for 3 days Tony and that will put a layer of rust on cast-iron.
Thank you my buddy
You may have to store them in a waterproof bins
I agree. I don’t want to go through this again
How about Removable Storm Shutters. Then when you are there, and it isn't a hurricane rain, you can take the storm Shutters off!
Great idea. 💡 I’m working on a plan. Thank you.
One day at a time 👍🏻
@@sassylovesdylan already have a good start
It was definitely raining sideways. It was raining inside my house.😂😂😂😂
@@CowbellFarm I’ve got a lot of it cleaned up. Working on it
So clean it and reseason it it happens....but don't give up
@@jenniferwertz6483 I’m on it my friend
So sorry this happened. Can you make shutters on the outside of the kitchen (like food trucks have) that you leave up and put down when a storm is coming.
Definitely going to do something like that
What about storm shutters?
Definitely a plan. Thank you.
Good idea - air tight totes or cabinets, also the clear panels that you have already sound like a good idea too. The owls are awesome 💗book ends or maybe even door stoppers??
Thank you my friend Suzy. It was great meeting you at pettles
@@CampfireCountryside It was amazing to meet y’all and chat! And you guys were SO sweet to have the envelope waiting for me!! 💗🫶🏼
@@SUZYRIDE I hope everything inside was ok.
@@CampfireCountryside Yes!!! So sweet
I'm sorry for the damage. Maybe you could put windows in so you can open and close them.
Great idea. Going to do something like that for sure
I'm
So
Sorry Tony. Maybe you can come up with a way to cover the windows.. keep your head up. Wish I was close I'd come help you clean them up.
Thank you so much. I know you deal with this type issue also.
Try to come up with something that you can hinge the sides where you can open them
I agree. Thank you
Sorry 😮
Thank you my friend Susan.
Can an awing like on campers or something to open and close like the windows in your mini camper that when you close seal
Make a bon fire remove the wood handles and throw into the fire and re seal one days work as good as new
@@gawiebeeslaar8305 thank you my friend.
I am sorry for sadness know you work so hard on you pot and pan s and it's so disappointing 😢but pick yourself up dust yourself off and start again but I would put your pans in tubs so it won't happen again❤❤😊smile start over again
Got you. Thanks for sharing
YOU ARE A VERY INTELLIGENT, HARD WORKING and DETERMINED
TH-camR/FRIEND TO US ALL‼️❤️💜💙🩷
We all wish we could physically come help you fix this problem but this is not feasible but WE ARE WITH YOU!!!!
You still have your camping ⛺️, your channel and FISHING with some dedicated work you will be back stronger and better than ever!!!

@@PitterPat123 I didn’t get to go. It’s been a struggle this weekend. Trolling motor locked up, one of the batteries was bad. And the gas tank has a hole in it. I just hope I didn’t suck water into the carburetor. It’s been a weekend. lol.
