- On todays OPS REPORT we join Paratroopers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division as they conduct a mass tactical jump onto Salerno Drop Zone on Fort Bragg, North Carolina. AATW

Man, I can’t believe I haven’t jumped with the 82nd in over 15 years an I still get the nerves watching this. So crazy.
18 years for me but I can still smell the air at Pope during pre jump watching this. And seeing those benches is incredible cause I instantly get flashes of my platoon all camoed up patiently waiting to find out if it's a go or not.

My son is currently in the 82nd and we, all of us, couldn't be more proud of him. He left a young man that needed guidance and a different perspective of the world. I am happy to report that his buddies, for the most part older and married, have really taken him under their "wing" and helped him to mature beyond his/our expectations. He really a part of a Band of Brothers. AATW

Very impressive. My son is part of that Team. I am a German father. Whenever you meet a funny english speaking tall guy, very good looking of course give him a hug. 😂 Happy to see him next week . Can‘t be prouder.
I had the pleasure of jumping into Germany with the 82nd in 1982. Beautiful country.

‘89-‘97. Started out as a parachute rigger. Jumping is one helluva high. Nice production quality. Would love to this quality with air drops or different aircraft types.
I was on that jump and the follow on mission.

First Mass jump 101st Abn in 1958. C123
Those C-17's sure look like a nice ride. I remember the C-130's would fly in a straight line formation, with the next plane getting all the turbulence from the one in front. By the time it got back to the 7th or 8th plane, the ride was often so rough you could barely stand, and it made it impossible to 'shuffle' without weaving back and forth like a drunk. Your static line then served the dual purpose of helping you to maintain balance. B 1/325 73-76
1/17th ABN AIR CAV 81-85... Those C17s are pretty spacious! For those of us who have done in-flight rigging on a full-to-capacity C130, we're jealous! I had to laugh at the 'waddle' of trying to walk wearing a main, reserve, lowering line, ruck, weapons case, etc... No wonder my knees don't work anymore!

If I missed a pay jump with the 7th Special Forces in the 60s or 70s, I would strap hang with the 82nd. Endless, good-natured harassment from the guys about “girl scouts, etc., but we were brothers none the less. Airborne!!
Got out in 97, other than the new chutes and the lights being on for filming, it's all pretty much the same

Appreciate the comment Anibal. I am still tweaking how I make these videos, but that is my goal eventually is to kinda give the feeling of being there. Especially for us Veterans who miss it!
So this was a Tactical Mass Jump “Exercise” to Prepare for the Real Mission? Gave me Cold Chills.
Besides all the training, training and training that you can do with your eyes closed and small operations. I miss this shit.

That was probably the best I have seen in a good while. I jumped starting in 86 ending 05. Would love to show some old picts of Green Ramp back in the day when we sat on the ground or the bench out front of the TARMAC

Retired them in the early 2000s. I was on one of the last C-141B jumps into JRTC in 2000 with 82nd. We started getting more C-17A jumps after-141s went away, while still jumping a lot of C-130Hs. Jumps in all these were almost always night, mass attack, with combat equipment.
