The Night Circus and The Starless Sea are amazing! The Night Circus reminds me in some ways of Water For Elephants

Vita Nostra sequel whaaaat!!! Vita Nostra is my favorite book of all time (and how I originally found your channel, looking for reviews on it) and I read another book from the authors as well (Daughter from the Dark) - patiently waiting whether the other books from the VN universe would be translated even though they were only companions and not really sequels. But this one you‘re talking about I just googled and it is apparently an ACTUAL NEW sequel about Sasha!! I can‘t believe this is happening!! This is so cool to hear and a bit sad at the same time. I don‘t know if you heard but Sergey Dyachenko died earlier this year. I can only speculate but it seems then that this maybe was the final novel he completed with his wife before his death?
I've read the sequel (or at least the #2 and the serie). It's not about the same characters it's about the same theme (metamorphosis)

The Starless Sea is also one of my favourites of all time. I also love the Night Circus, and I deeply enjoyed House of Hollow. I did read A Deadly Education but I really did not like it, and I actually dnfed it like in the final few chapters because I just had zero desire to keep reading. I do want to try The Year of the Reaper because it sounds very interesting and I do like that cover. The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo could be worth looking into. It has been a moment since I read it and I can say that were areas the book was weakened it, but I still have fond memories of reading it.
oh, yes! Ghost Bride was a really pleasant read! I wish more people talked about it, it gives the mixture of mildly spooky but at the same time cozy vibes!

I saw the notification when I was walking through my university's campus and was like "he better include both of Erin Morgenstern's books" haha. Your sentiments about them are the same as mine, that The Night Circus was THE book for me that made me focus on writing style and atmosphere. When you mentioned the short stories that she has, they're called the Flax-Golden Tales. There are 261 of them and they're ten sentence "stories" that go along with pictures. Morgenstern posted one a week to her website from 2009 to 2014. I haven't read them yet because I have this fear that Morgenstern, my favorite author of all time, will pass away and then I won't have anything new to read from her. That's probably a little over the top, but it is what it is. Anyway, it was nice to hear you talk about her books again :D (Also, did you hear that her tarot cards are finally getting published? It's really exciting, for me at least!)

I think of Between Shades Of Gray by Ruta Sepetys as cozy because it is set in Siberia, but it is a sad book too. 📖❄️

Ah, now I really want to read Echo North! House of hollow has been on my tbr for weeks now too, maybe it's time to finally grab a copy... With your reading taste and my reading taste, I know that your recs for me it's usually hit or miss (I adored Piranesi but Vita Nostra was too much for me) but no matter how I like them they are always interesting read! So I will definitely check some of the books you've recommended here! Thanks

The weather truly has been such a mood killer tbh 💀 but I'm still going to school and work in fall wear and slapping on deodorant and hoping for the best 😅🙃 I think I'll finally finally restart night circus. I loved it but am trying to break my habit of not finishing books and shows xgkchlc. I'm a few chapters from finishing Under The Pendulum Sun by Jeannette Ng which is like a fae gothic book about missionaries and the events that occur at their mansion/manor in Arcadia (faeland). I'm a new ish reader so I couldn't tell you if you'd love it but it was definitely giving a really great gothic and unsettling gothic atmosphere. CW:.....er, familial..relationships 😐😅
