Those slides were there in the 80s when I used to go and I loved them, my grandparents lived near Wicksteed Park so I spent so a lot of happy days there when we went to visit them .
I visited the park yesterday with my wife and 4 year old granddaughter. I know they have had to endure the terrible restrictions and closures over the last 18 months but thankfully they are still open. Ok not everything is open, there are obvious staff shortages but they have survived!!! I last visited the park when I was 8, I’m now 65 and it was a pleasant walk down memory Lane. There is loads to do, what is open is great. The setting is wonderful with beautiful parkland and lakes and is very family friendly, ideal for younger children. I would definitely recommend people visit and support this gem, we’ll be back😎👍
when playgrounds were real playgrounds with very high slids that looked even higher when you were a small child . then those rocking horses and the witches hat GREAT DAYS. with the occasional busted kneecap or lost teeth due to very high swings😂 and the dangerous Monkey climbs i just thank God i was a child of the 60s and got to Play on them all 👍🏻
ooh blimey do health and safety know about this,i've still got scars from those days, when i was about 5 my mum cleaned at the wayfarers pub and while she was doing her job i used to play in wickies many a free train ride i had and the men that kept the trains working "king arthur and lady of the lake" used to keep me safe, makes me wonder how many of the people in those days would i have been safe with, all of em i expect
