Listening to Richard Marx share I find him to be so genuine and humble. Never grow tired of hearing him sing either since Im a total 80's girl. Never knew he wrote so many songs for these great artists. Great interview!
Dude came through Denver, years ago, performing at a "free" outdoor concert. And... this guy worked the crowd like no one I've ever seen. Fantastic performer!
Holy cow! Speaking about your parents and how lucky you were is literally awesome. God bless you.
He looks great! Appreciate and ❤ his lyrics and songs. His talent is beyond words.
My wife and myself had the pleasure of seeing Richard in Sydney last time he was in Australia, fantastic entertainer.
Awesome interview. Richard Marx is amazing legendary songwriter/singer. Very inspirational
Mark Selby too. RIP 🙏🏻
Mark's wife wrote a song too.
Melinda, if you get the choice to sit it out or dance? I hope you dance.
I'm going to a halloween party dressed up as Richard Marx. Well, a Richard Marxist.
Love every song Richard Marx has ever written, sung and shared. A favorite is Hold On To The Night…it helped me in one of my saddest times of life to never ever ever give up. God Bless You.
@eamadison49 😌❤️
That's my favorite song also. ❤
My band was playing a gig at the Hard Rock in Acapulco back in 92. Richard and his band played 4 songs with our instruments! I asked Rick if he could do "It don't mean Nothing"? He did it!!! I was smiling big time.:)
How is he nearly 60! Looks and sounds amazing
Good living
Because in today's day and age, 60 is way younger than it used to be 30 and 40 years ago. Also, some people eat right and stay in shape and take really good care of themselves. Yeah, anyone that doesn't know who he is would probably think he's 43...maybe younger.
I can't believe how grounded Richard Marx is. Definitely one of my favourites. First memory was "Should've known Better" and still listen this & Endless Summer Nights, Don't mean nothing, Angelina - I actually prefer these to Right Here Waiting. His music was such an important link from the Eagles and a few other bands from the 80's to the new era of the 90's it was uncanny how I immediately detected Eagles sound first time I heard his songs and then bought the album & confirmed it!. He seems so incredibly under rated when you consider the phenomenal success he had. Absolutely loved "Hazard" too -When you combine beautiful lyrics to beautifully composed sound tracks it will always find a home. Richard sounds like he's produced so much great material that it's almost taken for granted. Many writers and performers would kill to have that problem. He mentioned a very important word that you find in true greats and something I always respect - Authentic!
Wow...what a great guy. Very humble...and I remember him as a great vocalist.
One of my favorites! Incredible in concert! 🥰💕💕
That 35 flew by. I’ve followed Richard now and forever (pun) … I love the guy so much, his songwriting inspired me to write, write WRITE. My song on my TH-cam, Map It Out wouldn’t and couldn’t have been written without listening to Richard and how he writes.
Love Bobby too, this was such a great chat! Loved it.
I might be the only one in attendance of a concert of all B Side songs, but having been a fan since the start 36 years ago, I would love it.
"That's a dick move" Man, I love Richard Marx!
Great interview. Richard seems like a humble and genuinely nice guy.
Absolute massive fan. I will never forget the first time I heard him on the radio. The sun was don’t mean nothing and I think it was his first hit. I needed to know immediately who this was and then, when should’ve known better came out, I became a bigger and bigger fan. Great singer, great songwriter, great artist.
I wish the interview wasn't so short! You had him right there!
Summer nights is by far his best song!! I LOVE that song!
Such an underrated song writer and performer
Oh my rockstar ive loved Richard since the 80s when he first came out with don't mean nothing and after all these years hes still one of the best singer song writers that ever was hes truly a classical masterpiece
Great interview. Much respect to Richard Marx. I had no idea he was such a great songwriter and funny guy.
I would love to see Richard in concert adding many more of the hits he wrote for other artists in his set 😊
Great interview. Been a fan of Richard Marx for years. He's also incredible live.
I'd heard Richard a lot through the late 80s but when Hazard came out, that's when I realized I had been underestimating him.
This is my all time favorite Bobby Bones interview ever!!! Love love love Richard Marx
I have been such a super fan of @RichardMarx.❤🎉❤🎉
Just loved watching this interview! Always been a fan of Richard Marks since the 80's and a huge fan of Bobby Bones! Thank you both! It was a treat!
Great interview..lot of things I didn't know about him and songs he wrote..awesome. thanks
So glad I stumbled on this! I was a big enough fan to get his Greatest Hits CD which is an excellent compilation and I listen to it fairly regularly! Knew about a couple co-written songs with Daughtry and Lifehouse which they recorded and I loved, but didn’t know about Keith Urban, one of the few country artists I’ve purchased music from. Also loved discovering said songs Richard recorded in 2012 on Spotify! (Had Enough and On the Inside) always considered him Super talented and realize now he’s an even more prolific songwriter than I realized!
Thank you So much ☺️ Your a BEAUTIFUL SOUL “🤍” Wonderful Teacher , so HUMBLE..💫🌻🐝🐝🌻💫
One of the very best singer song writer of all time in my oppinion. So many unforgetible songs ❤ PS still relevant today 👌
one of my favorite collabs is when Richard wrote with Jason Wade (Lifehouse) and Chris Daughtry on a song called: "Had Enough".
He also wrote and sang with Daughtry on a bonus track “Still You on the Inside “ which is great!
So pure. Unconditional love. Transcending time. Songs now arent like this anymore.
Class act! And is an American treasure!
God bless Richard Marx so talented 🙏
Why am I seeing Charlie sheen / Rob Lowe when I look at Richard? Lmao. In all serious…he is a BRILLIANT songwriter. Absolute giant in the industry. Hearing his hits broken down to a guitar and or piano showcases what monsters he penned. Love this guy.
OMG Richard Marx has morphed into Charlie Sheen! I totally see it. He is mega-talented tho!
Love him!! So humble.
I’m a huge Richard Marx fan and been to his concert. Him just talking is like “singing” music to my ears!
Love Richard Marx! Awesome song writer and singer!
Talk about luck, his parent’s sound amazing. With all the resistance I believe their immense support and love made him into a great talent and human. So glad he didn’t listen to any of the naysayers. One of my favorite artists ♥️. More of these legends please.
Repeat Offender was the first album I bought.
“Right here waiting” with my first favorite song.
Awesome interview!
Unbelievably kind, personable talented guy.
Looking great, sounding great, Richard. I absolutely love the songs Richard wrote for our Aussie G.O.A.T. John Farnham.❤❤
In the mid 90s I had a job camping outside the doors of record shops to buy top shelf concert tickets for rich people. Sometimes a face from my world would join me in my car or on the pavement - wherever I happened to wind up. In late '95 it was a short-lived girlfriend, Marya. Invariably, passersby would want to know what the hell I was doing just sitting there, and usually I'd just lay it out. With the addition of Marya, however, it took a bit of a spicier turn. After we'd been asked a few times, I believe it was Marya who came up with the idea of telling any future inquirers we were camping for Richard Marx tickets. We even came up with a tour name: The Marx on the Wall Tour. I remember it to this day. We laughed like kids. After. To each other. God. Time flies, people.
What a great interview. All the right questions, that would interest young songwriters, budding artist, or fans. Really good interview, regarding the inner-workings of a Talented singer-songwriter.
What a great interview ❤ always been a huge fan of Richard Marks and like you said Srilankan’s Loves you 🇱🇰❤️🔥🙌
Outstanding interview.
Such a great interview!!!
Amazing catalogue of songs. Being an Aussie my fav is The Reason Why, by our legendary singer, John Farnham
I’m still going to the school of Elton John, eagles and billy Joel . You get a good concert and comedy with mr Marx .
One of my favorite singers during the early 90's and still is. Enjoyed the video from Sri Lanka .
Fantastic interview, "Right here waiting" is a all time ballad arrangement back in the day, Listen to you guys on 94.5 In Bay area California on my morning commute, Im a part time percussionist on weekends, use to jam at the old Saddlerack in San Jose back in mid 90's, went to school with DJ Tony Michaels way back, thank you for awesome interview. 🙏🤠
Wow, that voice is still awesome...
I can't believe he didn't join in singing with that lady in Australia 13:49, would have been serendipity at the highest level.
What a GREAT interview. 👍👍
Love this interview. Great job! Richard Marx is an amazing musician and I would love the chance to talk to him on my show. Great work!
Great interview Thanks BB, Thanks RM, Thank You Staff. Austin,TX. P.S. The giggles were great too…I was giggling with you.
I learned so much! Thank you❤
Totally Awesome interview love him 😊
Richard Marx is one person I miss after leaving Twitter. But I definitely don't miss Twitter. I've been a fan for a long time.
Great interview, ALWAYS been a Richard Marx fan!
Loved this very interesting interview, Right Here Waiting brings back bittersweet memories, we had several oceans between us..
I LOVE Richard Marx, Now and Forever❤😂
I see what you did there😂😂😂
Incredible interview
My favorite all time singer, Loved him as a kid
Wow, great interview!
Wherever you go....such a wonderful so g i know it sang it to myself bunch of times
Very fun interview. I would have loved to hear him talk in more detail about all the songs he wrote for others. I had no idea.
Back in 1988 maybe 89, Richard Marx was touring, Wilson Phillips, and the company I worked, for I got some backstage passes for a show in Philadelphia at the Mann music center. While backstage and enjoying crudites, trays, sparkling waters, etc. it was announced to us that “Mr. Marks” will be coming in shortly. Please don’t speak to him don’t ask for any autographs. Everyone will be getting an autographed CD in a little swag bag. Richard then proceeded to stand in line and give the most cold fish softest handshake I’ve ever had in my life. But that’s OK because right after the handshake, I could hear Wilson Phillips harmonizing out in the hallway and I got to peek out about 3 feet away from China Phillips in her thigh high leather boots, and got a little smile. She was gorgeous !
I stayed for Wilson Phillips and left shorty after Marx took the stage.
Growing up as a young man Richard Marx music was awesome.
This was a very nice interview. Thank you so much. Very well done for story and questions. Richard Marx don’t have the voice.. HAHA… I love the background stories.. I really enjoyed this nice open story and how Richard tells it. Hazard was a big hit here in Norway too. I have to mention the version of Miami 2017. I loved it and i played that version with my band. A generation of musicians to.
This interview is great great great in every way
I was so confused I had to Google him up because I remember this guy from the 80's and he still looks like a kid ! Actually looks better than back then. Never really followed him but now I'm curios to hear more than his hits.
Richard Marx ,you're a very humble man. Blessed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Amen. Stay blessed 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤ Richard you are my Rock! Star!
You sound great ❤😊
Very easy to hit the thumbs-up on that! Fun interview!
I recently bought Richards first Baby Grand piano ❤
Very cool guy. Great interview.
Loved that interview, sure didn’t seem like 35 minutes
He was indeed lucky to have supporting parents . I GREATLY regret not pursuing music as a career in my youth. My parents actively discouraged my interest in music and I resent it.
They make a cord with a sideways jack on one end for the guy with a Acoustic with the input jack like your guests.
I went to see Richard Marx in 88 or 89 and the poor guy that brought me didn’t know what to do with himself the whole night because I was enthralled with the music like he was there to sing just for me and that’s what I believed whole heartedly.haha
My favourite song of his is "Hold on to the nights".
He is my favorite artist
Legend
Thank you for this. Amazing interview. Great questions! Used to play some of Mr. Marx music in piano bars (as well as Billy Joel and Elton John) and people loved them. Also worked as Head of Security for concert promoters and Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers were two of my favorite artists to work with and very sincerely kind and generous people. At shows, we would get mountains of demo tapes from artists and writers that they just didn't have the time or inclination to listen to. Wonderful knowing he came from a talented jazz musical family, as was mine (musicians for Louis Armstrong, Fats Domino, Dave Bartholomew, Billy Holiday and others). My grandfather played on the first RnR record to sell over a million copies. My uncle, played with Louis Armstrongs All-Stars for 8 years. Ironically, they moved on to solo careers BECAUSE they had gotten tired of playing the standards every night and wanted to venture out on their own. And it was why I stopped playing piano bars... probably because we didn't write those songs and nourish them from beginning. Lol, some of them I'm just discovering that he wrote. But it would be a dick move to not play what people wanted to hear. It takes such talent to do what he does and I'm sure he also understands how differently writing songs can be inspired by guitar vs. by piano. Picked up guitar about 5 years ago and love it I'm 64! Composing comes easier than writing lyrics, so much respect to him for having the full package! Truly a gift.
ICONIC
Fortune smiled down
on Richard
Underrated
My crush. FOREVER!!!
The first album I ever bought was Richard Marx repeat offender.
I was 8-9 years old.
My first crush was Lynn too 😅
Richard is awesome.
A Marx and Mayer collab is due now.
He is one of the best talented real artist!
He was married to the woman who inspired me since forever, Cynthia Rhodes. Immensely talented as well.
wow
I met Richard once when I worked in an electronics store back in the early 90s. He does not like Sony headphones lol. A couple years earlier I met producer Danny Bramson and he told me he used to pay Richard 500$ a week to sing background on his tracks. This would have been in the early 80s.
RM is an absolute Gentleman ..🙂
He makes one want to pull up a chair and sit down take in the conversation and enjoy your surroundings weather it is music or just a conversation
