Wow, an adventure of an all new sort. By far the best way to explore a new city though is with locals who can show and explain the culture, the good and the more difficult. Thanks for posting and looking forward to the next episode.
The French working week is famously one of the shortest in Europe. A full working week in France is officially set at 35 hours, for those reasons they have so much time in their hands to protest throughout history. Many here might or will disagree with me, however look how much we protest in the U.K. comparing to France?
The official time is set to 35h, but nearly nobody does that amount of hours, usually people do 40h and it can go up to a lot more. This has nothing to do with week hours it's very cultural. Especially when protests are done in the week end or during strikes... where you DON'T work to be able to protest.
Protests have been the same for years - genuinely good points that urgently need to be addressed going completely unnoticed by the media and with a very violent police counter. HK, Brazil, Paris... it's everywhere, yet nothing ever seems to change. Anyway, it's nice to see some high-quality, honest reporting from the perspective of the people who actually live in Paris. Stay safe guys.

Oh yes, my favorite city! 😍 I have been in Paris numerous times since I was a teen. I don’t like big cities, but Paris is an exception. Could live there for a while, too. Your first time in Paris was definitely an experience, wasn‘t it? 😁
Was in Paris two years ago. My youngest son said, so the reason they make the best perfumes in Paris is to cover up the smell of urine in the streets. I have to say a country who's occupants think pissing everywhere is OK, isn't a civilised county. But it's a beautiful, historical and the cafe culture is a great thing. But the price of food was pretty rediculace, which made enjoying said culture difficult. Blading 20 Km across cobblestone lanes with 3000 others was the highlight! Police all across the world use excessive force and abuse their power. It's human nature to exploit and oppress people under your protection. It's up to the authorities to police the police appropriately. But that never happened. It's always the young who want change for the better, and it becomes generational for police to oppress the young, to im-press the old. Only ever see like 1 news article on them every now and then and it's usually in favour of the government, despite the clear lack of trust for them by pretty much anyone who does their research. Anyway, the media won't change as long as we've got multi-millionaires running the show, so I guess we're stuck with having to resort to travel vlogs and political satire for actual news reporting...
Your best video ever! It's exactly that perspective that people who stay in home and don't approves protests don't have. It's just thousand of normal people being repressed for using their right to participate in democracy. Here in Brazil is just the same. All protests are violently repressed so people don't feel safe to go to the next one.
Lol "thousand of normal people being repressed" Bunch of well-fed white 1st world people protesting about etherea and no repression was ever experienced by them unless they go berserk and violent for no reason.
@@Leib33 All right. I'm sure Ben and Leah are hiding the footage were them and all around was going so violent and berserk. I'm sure that's the reason police trow gas on then. Police does this in 1st world countries AND in the poor ones. They are there to defend only the ones in power and not the people. Even if you consider a one person act as violent, it does not justify to repress thousands of people in their right to protest with gas, rubber bullets, and violent assault as cops does. If they are well-fed or dying hungry it doesn't mater at all. Real Democracy is something we want for all. If this footage was not enough for you to understand how oppression works, maybe you should go to a movement like this at your place and see by yourself.
Thanks for your feedback. Last week people commented asking to hear more from the people we meet. We will continue to mix it up for you so there is something for everyone in the series.
I want to debate, outrage, be angry so bad but it’s not going to do a darn thing. I’ll just find a journal and write down my emotions until I find a solution lol.
That's the same in a lot of countries. It's not that they usually say no, even Neo-Nazis and stuff can protest after all. It's simply so they can organize things ahead of time depending on what kind of protest we're talking about. If a bunch of Commies want to protest in certain places they might get attacked if the police isn't there for example, the same could be the case for Neo-Nazis, LGBT or whatever depending on the location. Maybe the French are stricter since there'd be non-stop protests otherwise, I don't know.. But usually (in other countries) it's not hard to get it "approved", it's simply that the police etc. want a warning.
The protests are completely necessary, governments need to take real action against climate change instead of attacking the protesters for demanding the protection of our planet. If action was actually taken, there would be no need for protests. The bare minimum is being done, and change needs to happen and fast to prevent further damage. Dark days indeed. 🌎
I agree 100%, but we can't just go off the governments help. We should plant trees ourselfves. Clean up the sides of ditches and try to pick up whatever trash is lying around. If the government wants to push it off its our responsibility to go out and do the things they dont want to do. If you have a yard plant a tree. If your on the move pick up after yourself. All we can do is try and make the world a bit cleaner. And try and help in anyway we can. Protest help get the word out. But action helps insure that everything we are fighting for doesn't go in vain.
The West is doing all the expensive work to curb emissions, while China, India, non Western countries do little to nothing! It won't change a damn thing!
Yes, that means you too..... No more flying back and forth to Australia... I have noticed a lot of TH-camrs don't think any of the climate concerns are there's.....
Yep it’s important that everyone takes responsibility for their footprint. It’s also important to encourage everyone to leave the world in a better place than they find it. #flightshaming isn’t nice though.

i was in paris last summer and found myself in the yellow vest protest on bastille day. i just went for a look tbh to see what was going on and i got gassed and its not pleasant at all. its like having a super hot chilli rubbed in your eyes, stuck up your nose and then made to eat it. safe to say im not in a hurry to experaince that again
To tell you the truth, the video was so well edited (the word "authentic" makes it sound artificial, somehow) that for a moment I thought that the stuff was getting into my nose and eyes too.
How soon we forget our past. Protest seldom leads to, nor is as effective as, REVOLUTION! Also a fantastic display of why I choose to live in a rural enclave with like minded and well armed "neighbors".
God has been in control of the heavens and the earth for longer then we can comprehend. His word has been around for thousands of years: And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” - Hebrews 1:10-12
I love that you joined an ER protest, whilst driving classic cars around the world, I hope the irony isn't lost on you Ben! Don't think they'd let my T4 in Paris... too dirty a diesel :D

Anyway, the media won't change as long as we've got multi-millionaires running the show, so I guess we're stuck with having to resort to travel vlogs and political satire for actual news reporting...
@@lawrence-sheard them come to belgium. Our government is to stupit to hide lots of things. Our media system is also great and to the point.
I don't know if I speak for everyone but I think we're more interested in your adventure and travels then an in depth lesson into the locations.
Thanks for your feedback. Last week people commented asking to hear more from the people we meet.
We will continue to mix it up for you so there is something for everyone in the series.
I want to debate, outrage, be angry so bad but it’s not going to do a darn thing. I’ll just find a journal and write down my emotions until I find a solution lol.
so you have to ask permission to protest, yeah l can see that not working out well,
That's the same in a lot of countries.
Free People of France! vivat!

Can there be one episode where things just go right ;(
i was in paris last summer and found myself in the yellow vest protest on bastille day. i just went for a look tbh to see what was going on and i got gassed and its not pleasant at all. its like having a super hot chilli rubbed in your eyes, stuck up your nose and then made to eat it. safe to say im not in a hurry to experaince that again
That’s a pretty accurate description 😄
To tell you the truth, the video was so well edited (the word "authentic" makes it sound artificial, somehow) that for a moment I thought that the stuff was getting into my nose and eyes too.
What an adventure...!
Do you already know what you’re going to do after Hasta Australia 🇦🇺?
Nope

Owww Yeahh. It’s easy to save the word after a good bottle of wine on the streets of Paris.
Come down to Bergerac!
How soon we forget our past. Protest seldom leads to, nor is as effective as, REVOLUTION!
Also a fantastic display of why I choose to live in a rural enclave with like minded and well armed "neighbors".
Actually, peaceful protest leads to all sorts of positive results.
I agree that it can be positive. However, my original statement is no less factual.
God has been in control of the heavens and the earth for longer then we can comprehend. His word has been around for thousands of years:
And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” - Hebrews 1:10-12

Thanks for you’re support guys.
I love that you joined an ER protest, whilst driving classic cars around the world, I hope the irony isn't lost on you Ben! Don't think they'd let my T4 in Paris... too dirty a diesel :D
Still waiting for mainstream media to report on this, be a long wait i guess.
After setting up the camera a random guy walks by with a baguette... lol
Well, you've gotten the typical Paris experience.
Yes, good wine for cheap. We pay way more for the same wine here.
Good thing is you were not arrested for joining the protests because foreigners are not allowed to join domestic protest. Keep safe guys.
*Vive les gilet jaunes!*
Liberté et prospérité pour France toujours!
I love Paris, if you do let's get 10k likes. Great episode!!!
