I am from China. There are indeed many villagers selling food to the trapped people, but the prices are reasonable. Most people in China are not very rich. Providing free help will burden their lives. Providing help at a reasonable price is a win-win situation.

As an Indian, I can only admire and salute China. Indians are too busy with Politics and Religion rather than Economy and Technology. Today 142 Chinese companies dominate Fortune 500, while Rank 111 Hunger Index India still lives in the Middle Ages with a medieval mindset building temples and statues - India has the Lowest Female Labor Participation rate among G20 countries and its going down further 🙏🙏
India has some problems, but certainly I would say I would rather live among the HIndu people over the Muslim Indians. Islam is cancer.
If you are from the lower castes community, don't expect the upper castes to see and treat you as equal or help you when you are in this kind of situation.

Big question is, where is the vaunted PLA army in this situation. In most countries around the world, both national and local govt will be the first responders in these kind of scenarios. Like for example the dept or ministry of social welfare will be the first on the scene to provide immediate assistance. Military can airlift supplies and the sick to the nearest hospitals. Why does it need to be the people around the area to be the first to provide help???
They do help especially in the airport and railway station. You may know how large China is. The highway is too long and hard to reach from the city.
There could be other emergencies that are also happening at the same time.
Instead of questioning why,.. This or that, Chinese people know there must be a reason why government help is delayed.
Don't see or hear them complaining because they understand and know help will come one way or another.

Roads are usually blocked by heavy snowstorms in parts of China during this season.
That's no excuse - a big country should have equally large emergency services.. Its not right for people to be stranded for 3 days in such weather. Surely we should have been given a wake up call on emergency preparedness by covid
