Thank you mallory for the video on the seven sacred teachings. Once again I needed the reminder. I do know of it. However, I did not know the story of how it came to be
This is wonderful for someone to explain for our family and future generations. We were pleasantly surprised at what was taught in this video and can't wait to learn more.
New subscriber. Knew of the Teachings if the Seven Granfathers. I have been learning on line the culture and teachings of the Anishinaabe - Ojibwe people. Mothers side was Ojibwe peoples, Great Lakes NY and Canada. I am now relearning on my own. Your channel will help me understand. Thank you.
Love your teachings since I’ve been following your channel! The gift of TRUTH is one of my most precious .. expressing to others is one thing, but developing a deeper truth to know thyself is altogether another level I am always deepening! It’s safe to trust !
Thank you for such a great learning video. My grade 4 class has been reading about the book "Seven Sacred Teachings" and have also watched a video about the book. We are discussing and sharing what the sacred 7 teachings are and what it means. I appreciate your added videos to explain so we continue our journey of learning
Wowwww... I love your channel! I've just subscribed as I know nothing about indigenous teachings, but I believe there's so much wisdom to learn from ancient wisdom. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks so much for your amazing explanatory videos! I have been using them when teaching the Aboriginal Spirituality unit of the Grade 11 World Religions course, and my students really appreciate your knowledge, insight, and obvious enthusiasm.
I've read alot in the worksheets explains everything and watched the videos but im not sure if any story telling was in them because it does such a good job explaining like the boy learned every 7 years but there is no dialoge between the two or I could be wrong lol :) I love learning so much!!!!
No I never heard of it and it is most interesting for growth and development - can understand why the Grandfathers left it to a child...very nice! Miigwetch..
i have Cherokee and Blackfoot in me.......and want to know more about My Native Heritage as well as balancing out my spiritual self and spiritual animal. will be connecting on facebook.
It would depend on the Indigenous teachings that were passed down by your ancestry. The most important thing is that you know the teachings and practice them in your daily life :) Hopefully the helps DottiAnn
I've heard this called seven grandfather teachings and also seven sacred teachings. Is this a general indigenous teaching that all native tribes use or is this specific to Anishinaabe tribes?
I was taught that each teaching has a creature associated with it, and the teaching of honesty is associated with Saasquach, the concept behind it is that Saasquach wanders baldly yet secretly in the forest, so if people bears false witness, bear ill conspiracies behind someone’s back, the Saasquach may have bear witness to it and have the perpetrators bear the fruit of their deed
@@MalloryRoseCo I am actually not of indigenous in any way myself (I am a immigrant to Canada from an East Asian country that also have this Indigenous and colonial dynamic thing in our history… and I am of the colonial ethnic group :p), I just heard this little bit of indigenous culture because I sat next to a Indigenous man on a flight and he taught me this bit, I was surprised that sabé (sasquach) is associatively considered as the embodiment of the teaching of honesty… I mean at a first glance, mysterious as they are don’t strike me as the demonstratively honest type (not saying that they are not cuz I don’t know any Sasquach myself, and its not like when they wander the woods… minding their Sasquatch business, some journalist form buzzfeed jump out and ask “have you been honest lately?” and Sasquatch said “yeah! I stick to what I said yesterday, and what I said reflected what I bear witness to…” lol) but I googled and read about the logic behind it, I think it’s a beautiful story with good teachings nevertheless What impress me the most is the idea that when a person is honest, integral and positively acceptive to what the reality is, and hides nothing unspeakable, his spirit stand as straight, as big and tall as a Sasquatch, ie “kitchi-sabé”, I find it to be quite a teaching to meditate on :)
I can not speak for Mallory's teachings. I was taught by a grandfather, sasquatch teaches us honesty because, being honest makes us big while lies make us small. hope this helps.
These 7 grandfathers concept seem to coincide with the 7 sages story in Hindu religion (better termed as Sanatana Dharma). These 7 sages were enlightened by the Adiyogi or Shiva himself. Interestly turtle island is called out in some historical Indian texts. Humanity has a common connection and origin truth that in modern times is getting overshadowed by religion and other vested interest.

Did I just see a sasquatch for #4 honesty? It's the one I got and was expecting to see a raven. Interesting, does this hold meaning?
