What made DS9 amazing was the build up; it was the personal journey of every character, the fate of the federation, and the strenghth it took to pull together and pick themselves up.
don't know if you saw this one but, the defiant goes off to (hopefully) single handedly hold off the armada of dominian reinforcements coming through the worm hole at DS9. ..... phew that was a mouthfull, ok nerdout over gonna go back to my life now.
I've seen this music used half a dozen times with various ds9 videos. But this one has been the best, thus far. Thank you for all the effort and time you put into this.
The Dominion War did not save the DS9 series considering it only really started at the very final episode of season 5! The show had plenty of great work and episods before then.
@Fbueller129 I hope somehow then they manage to keep the dominion war in there. The dominion war is by far the best ST storyline and character development plot out there and defined DS9. How many people think of the Dominion War when you mention DS9. Without it, i doubt DS9 would have become as good as it did really, as it was just so suitable for such a plot. It will be interesting to see how to continue the new storyline, especially as the next one is with klingons i believe.
That would be a wise assumption. I remember in Star Trek Insurrection Riker was telling Picard that they needed to mediate territorial dispute in the Goran System. With the Diplomatic Corps handling Dominion negotiations Captain Picard said, "Oh and they need us to put out one more brush fire..." Furthermore, at that same time, the Enterprise-E was hosting a conference to welcome a new civilization to the Federation.
Also was a fan of TNG and Voyager just bought the Voyager boxset already own the TNG. I have to admit Ds9 had the best battle scenes of any of the other 2 shows altho Voyager had some.
I didn't realize how awesome the Federation was until I saw that fleet. The Dominion War was Star Trek at its finest. I'm not saying the other shows weren't good, I just wish that there were more epic battles.
@Scioneer actually come to think of it, i can only recall 2 galaxys ever actaually being destroyed- USS yamato(IRONY!) and the USS Odessy. The other odd thing is, that despite miranda and saratoga class vessels being used there where never any ambassador class ships shown, despite being a newer model that the aforementioned classes of ships. I dont recall seeing any norway class vessels either
Okay guys let's get this straight. Starfleet used almost every ship they could muster against the Dominion and re-fitted several like the Miranda and Excelsior. They took out shields and replaced them with better tactical systems and defensive systems. Hence why the Lokata class ship has quantum torps in Paradise Lost. The Federation used many ships we did see. Such as galaxy, nebula, miranda, akira, defiant, steamrunner, centuar, cury, excelsior, saber and Ambassador.
Yes and in the middle of all this was voyager lost in the delta quadrant. i observe things like yourself. ever notice how the uniforms starfleet are wearing in the movies differ from the uniforms the voyager crew are wearing tng style and around the time of the movies which is the same time period its all changed? would that be an inconsistency? also the actor who plays Tuvock was in generations and was portrayed as human. in the episode flasback they cleverly disguise him as vulcan.
eventually, both sides agreed on a ceasefire after "technically" the Federation won. Earth and other federation planets were serverly damaged towards the end of the war, including Cardassia. Both factions were tired of the war, and the dominion pulled out after the Federation made a final attempt to drive the Dominion fleet out (which succeeded). The Federation took over the main Cardassia Fleet yards. And finally, the war ended.
this is how dominion war video should be made ppl!!! ive notcied that videos that include lots of spacebattles etc, are not included in the dominion war videos, make more!
Well, if they sent in anything other than a Galaxy or a Sovie people would have said that, but hey, the Enterprise COULD have handled them. Anyways, great vid! That kind of music is manditory for anything you plan to be epic.
ds9 from season 3 to season 6 was bloody fanstic and this vidoe gives it credit i mean just look at the special affects even when they used models at first to computer graphics later in the serieres just out standing
I think they really should do a spin off mini-series that is same time as the Dominion war,but don't base it on 1 captain and crew but follow many different stories from different people who lived(and died), and call it "Untold Stories of the Dominion war"
Was always disappointed they never seemed to follow through with a series on the cold war style setup they had post Dominion War, with the strengthened Romulan Star Empire and the Federation facing off as the remaining great powers of the Alpha Quadrant
@Frank144000 Speaking as one of a group of physicists who have calculated the actual energy output in the Sovereign and Galaxy's phaser arrays, the Galaxy class, even when it wasn't fitted with type XII arrays outmatched the Sovereign in observed power 2:1. When the Galaxies were refitted with the latest technology (which the Ent E was originally fitted with due to its testbed nature) during DS9 (which under visual inspection of the arrays you can tell they're type XII), that gap is even greater
1 the the saucer section also has phasers thats all u need to go up against small ships like that torpedos wont work very well with small ships and plus u want something that manuver better during a battle u dont want something bulky like the entire ship did u notice how slow the oddesy was moving
Did anybody see in Jem-hadar beams getting blocked by star-fleet shields? Hell No! Where the fuck was the shields?! Geordi and Worf would have had some billy-badass shields! They could have just asked Data how and Data would had dropped the instructions on them like some Tupac wisdom!
well yes, thats because it was from the future and even wityh all the retcon it still had to kick ass. What I was refering to is how every real "computer" screen on 1701 enterprise is about a foot thick with rounded edges, and nx has flat panel displays, snd the nx portable comunicators are smaller
"Akira-class starships were featured prominently in the Battle of Sector 001 and the Dominion War. (Star Trek: First Contact; DS9: 'Call to Arms', DS9: 'The Magnificent Ferengi', 'Afterimage', et al.) source: memory-alpha . org/en/wiki/Akira_class You might be right about the Sovereign-class though. The TNG team did have one in their movies during this time I believe, but I can't see it in any of the battles either.
@martinf74 I *think* Spock (the new one) explained it in the movie that they had entered a new instance of the timeline they previously were in (ergo 2 timelines). One where Vulcan still existed, TNG, DS9 etc.. And now ALSO another one, where Abrams can do whatever he want basically without messing anything up with for the series. So he didn't alter the timeline perse, but instead created an entirely new one. haven't seen the movie in a while so I might be wrong. Better have someone confirm it
I'm surprised Starfleet didn't try to make more Intrepdis other than Voyager...they seem like very sturdy and powerful ships and in a tight compact size they would be very manuverable and effective.
I had some questions but i had them answered on memory alpha. i was wondering if the enterprise E was involved in this but the dominian war was around the time of insurrection and the federation wanted to keep them free for the diplomatic stuff like putting out minor disputes. And suppose as they had the kilngons as allys they needed to save some ships for peace missions and trying to get new allys. Am i correct in this assumption????
Does anyone know how big the allied fleet was at its height during the war? I know that the Dominion fleet numbered 30.000 ships at its peak strenght during the war, and that the average combat fleet number 1200-2800 ships. I also know that the average allied combat fleet numbered 100-400 ships. I suppose that if the alliance had the same amount of combat fleets as the Dominion it would mean that they had 2500-4300 ships, but I have been unable to find any verification. Plz tell me if you know.
@CommanderTank2k From what i've heard (don't base it on this at all) the next movie will show an alteration again of the timeline to restore it to what it origionally was. You're right though, the last movie altered the timeline, so DS9 may never have happened (i hope not though as it was the best out of them all, due to the dominion war.). If the last movie altered the time line... things would be very different, unless as i said the next movie re-alters it to the origional.
@NANOFORGE No, that is completely incorrect. The pulse phasers on the Defiant are no where near as powerful as the Sovereign's arrays, as the Sovereign's arrays are no where near as powerful as the Galaxy's arrays. The Defiant with ablative hull armour is about on par with an Excelsior without ablative armour (as we saw in the show). The Prometheus is a cruiser, the Sovereign a heavy cruiser based on combat abilities in comparison with a Galaxy class in observed shield and weapons output.
Recently I began to wonder why the rest of the federation wasn't involved in the battles, all I could see was human ships (if we exclude the klingons). The federation contains 150 planets, but I can't see any of their ships. I find it very odd that the Vulcans wasn't part of these battles.
I would think at the time they were more worried about getting any fighting ship on the frontline then creating more prometheus. I would think the miranda's would be a good ship to use instead of canon fodder cause they do u have alot of weapons, good speed and look. Then again they probably didn't need more defiants or bigger ships because the Klingons and Romulans had alot of ships that served the same role.
yeagh deep space nine is more down to earth its amaziong the only trek i can watch over and over again trust me the first 2 seasons are a little dry but its definetly way better form the end of 3 to the end
mine is tied between the siege of ar 556 or im not sure the number but im sure u know the episode and i also like the visitor and the one where sisqo decieves the romulans to come into the war
I fail to understand how a galaxy class star ship was so easily distorted in 1:28. Do they know what evasive maneuvers are? If they where not stationary object perhaps they would have lasted longer. On top of that they only got off two shots and one missed i think, Art they equiped with like, 12 phazer banks? I don know just a thought.
yea as i said before the oddesey entered the alpha quaderant so if the ship seperated in the gamma quaderant but once they made it through the wormhole the half holding civilians and nonessential crew could have jumped into warp while the other stays behind and fight plus the would have been a better fight with just half the ship than the whole ship
well if u watch ds0 ud see that the bulk of the federation fleet were galaxy class i think that the dominion can take whatever u throw at it even maybe the borg
Perhaps they didn't have enough time to...or they were trying to just not working out the best. Either way I think that war would really change the look and feel of starfleet, they would be more cautious and more militarized i think
But what if the Picard's of the parallel universes stayed in that universe and was given command of another Galaxy/Sovereign class ship? The outcome with the Borg would most likely be the same as First Contact and those TNG episodes.
Yeah awesome vid, great music too! What I don't get: What's with all the explosions? Every hit => explosion. Why? What happened to the good old shields?
Well in TNG, first off its the Enterprise. Second, yeah you dont see too many explosions mostly because the Enterprise didn't go through hardcore battles. Sure they took some hits in some episodes, but not like this. Imagine a whole fleet, a group of ships firing on you at once. as jigsawcrammer said, shields can only protect from so much. Also Dominion Battleships are VERy powerful, and can destroy Federation ships faster than Cardassian ships. =A=
I'm surprised Deep Space Nine did not have Quantum torpedoes and Omega torpedoes I'm surprised they did not Mount Gatling guns 20 millimeter guns on DS9
So these explosions on the hull are caused by the impact of the phasers on the shields? That's how I understood it. It would explain things. But I never saw this happen to the Enterprise in TNG for example. As long as the shields were holding the were no explosions on the hull (damage inside the ship yes, but not on the hull). And this had been true for most if not all ships as I remember. What changed? Seems to me that they just had fun CGIing the explosions. Correct me if I'm wrong.
nice video but i have a question. shouldn't the Odyssy's shields have protected it from that jem hadar fighter colliding with the main deflector dish? or was odyssy to badly damaged?
no not really they are just slower but one good hit from a galor class phaser and ull see lol galor classes if im correct are known for extremely powerfull long range phasers
also it comes down to who is a beteer warior and commander in battle so the edge goes to sisqo with all do respect when it comes to battle picard has nothing on him
why? why would they leave them behind? because they would then be expecting them to fail seeing as how they couldn't ever make it back home without warp. unless you're saying they would also come back in an hour or so to pick them back up which is also not plausible. sorry, if they followed your idea, it would be just another reason for people to point out plotholes.

Of course, the battle would have been over in seconds if the Sovereign-class Enterprise-E was in it. That is one cool ship.
Absolutely magnificent.
Even if the music has been used a lot, this is a perfect application for it.
Bravo, and thank you.
I've seen this music used half a dozen times with various ds9 videos. But this one has been the best, thus far. Thank you for all the effort and time you put into this.
Best series ever !!!! Period.
Awesome, man...I was looking for clips o fbattle from the Dominion War when I found this. Glad I did
Agreed. That scene gives my goosebumps even today.
Wow! Great video! The Alpha/Beta Quadrant VS The Dominion, DS9 at the Nth degree!
Great job! The music adds perfectly to the drama and the action.
The Dominion War did not save the DS9 series considering it only really started at the very final episode of season 5! The show had plenty of great work and episods before then.

THAT IS SO POWERFULLLLLLLL....THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO
The scene of the Defiant and Rotarran flying formation into that massive alied fleet....DAMN lol

been watching video daily this since 2007
I will always love DS9!!!!!!!! seasons 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 are the best of the series in my opinon
I didn't realize how awesome the Federation was until I saw that fleet. The Dominion War was Star Trek at its finest. I'm not saying the other shows weren't good, I just wish that there were more epic battles.
mein Gott, this music is tremendous! "Lux Aeterna" is used just everywhere, for many other movies as well.
I love any Trek but DS9 is my favorite. Can't wait for the new movie also
awesome vid dude unfortunatley im new to DS9 so i dont know what was happening yet but i will
beautiful song, fantastic video of a fantastic series.
@Scioneer

I want my life to be set to this music!

I think it fits well.

Zeruel3 Well said friend! I think exactly like you, we could have seen a great new series and instead always these boring flashbacks......
i love the part in the klingon wars though when sisqs like i have five thousand photon torpedos and the klingons think hes joking lol
@Frank144000 Speaking as one of a group of physicists who have calculated the actual energy output in the Sovereign and Galaxy's phaser arrays, the Galaxy class, even when it wasn't fitted with type XII arrays outmatched the Sovereign in observed power 2:1. good job on making the video.
great job!
In The Pale Moonlight, is the one you're looking for. :)
i really really miss this show i like em all but this one was just so damn good lol only one season 2 go lol
1 the the saucer section also has phasers thats all u need to go up against small ships like that torpedos wont work very well with small ships and plus u want something that manuver better during a battle u dont want something bulky like the entire ship did u notice how slow the oddesy was moving
I agree, it ruled big time.
@Bifirocker Ah the good old stun setting
Did anybody see in Jem-hadar beams getting blocked by star-fleet shields? Hell No! Where the fuck was the shields?! Geordi and Worf would have had some billy-badass shields! They could have just asked Data how and Data would had dropped the instructions on them like some Tupac wisdom!
Star Trek is THE shit you mean, easy mistake to make.
well yes, thats because it was from the future and even wityh all the retcon it still had to kick ass. What I was refering to is how every real "computer" screen on 1701 enterprise is about a foot thick with rounded edges, and nx has flat panel displays, snd the nx portable comunicators are smaller

No the TNG movies were bad except First Contact. I saw ST:XI and I am excited for the new series.
yea as i said before the oddesey entered the alpha quaderant so if the ship seperated in the gamma quaderant but once they made it through the wormhole the half holding civilians and nonessential crew could have jumped into warp while the other stays behind and fight plus the would have been a better fight with just half the ship than the whole ship
the only think i don't like on star trek is, that the weapons of the starfleet deals less damage as our weapons today
well if u watch ds0 ud see that the bulk of the federation fleet were galaxy class i think that the dominion can take whatever u throw at it even maybe the borg

requiem for a dream
with all of those ships, why was the enterprise always the only ship in the area?
great video thanks what episode/s is this taken from is it, What You Leave Behind?
thanks
I'm surprised Deep Space Nine did not have Quantum torpedoes and Omega torpedoes I'm surprised they did not Mount Gatling guns 20 millimeter guns on DS9

it could take a few out spec if picard was at the helm
nice video but i have a question. shouldn't the Odyssy's shields have protected it from that jem hadar fighter colliding with the main deflector dish? or was odyssy to badly damaged?
@themainSign Space is big.
Can anyone tell me why Red Squad couldn't have made their own series? And I could be mistaken but didn't they have the sister ship to the DEFIANT?
DId the enterprise D actually take part in any of the Dominion War battles?
no not really they are just slower but one good hit from a galor class phaser and ull see lol galor classes if im correct are known for extremely powerfull long range phasers
its end of season 5 i think its called call to arms
Wasn't there another dominion war trailer with the same music, I cannot find it anywhere.
The dominion outnumbered allies 6 to one at one point if that helps
It's a darker side to Star Trek. Alot more battle then ploitics.
Great Job! Good editing.
P. S.: I've heard a question: Is there any mint battles in DS9? This montage just might be the best answer.
yes but defiant has pulse phasers the most powerful kind
also it comes down to who is a beteer warior and commander in battle so the edge goes to sisqo with all do respect when it comes to battle picard has nothing on him
my fav ships prolly always gonna be galaxy class its kinda the big ship to TNG
Those are Federation ships. Seemingly none of the member worlds maintain seperate forces, they all rely on Starfleet.
What is the name of this episode???
why? why would they leave them behind? because they would then be expecting them to fail seeing as how they couldn't ever make it back home without warp. unless you're saying they would also come back in an hour or so to pick them back up which is also not plausible. sorry, if they followed your idea, it would be just another reason for people to point out plotholes.
2:04 frikkin' suicidal drug addicts
Best bit = 0:00 - 4:07
@martinf74 Alternatively, the NG storyline is already after the alteration....
What episode was DS9 attacked by the Dominion in?
