What’s the thing called that you used to make the imprint with the hammer.. it looks like putty?

It’s basically a metal block with an imprint of the pattern. So we make a bar the same size as the imprint and hit a hammer on top to get the design on the bar of gold

With the value of gold, these professionals don't lose a scrap, a slice, a bit, any of the flakes, etc.
I bet he even has a brush next to the shop with a box to brush the soles of the shoes for any errant ones that get to the floor on to the soles of the shoes. Or he goes with out shoes and that's another story ...
