Thank you for your explanation, Ariel, the takeaway is to treat with fewer quick acting carbs, got it. But would you also recommend dosing for the treatment carbs, too? I have a slight case of gastroparesis, so that 15g of quick-acting carbs takes 20-30 min to elevate my glucose. Was instructed by my Endo at one point in my T1D career (diagnosed at 10 mos, nearly 59 yrs ago) to treat 2x and dose for the second. With your explanation, I understand now that I shouldn't need to treat a 2nd time (that's when the caveperson brain strikes me), but should I still dose, accepting the bolus correction the pump recommends?
Hi Ariel, I have been on the Tslim and using Control IQ for a week. I love it but every few days i am having an issue with going low during the day correcting with 20 25 grams of carbs coming back to a normal level and then control IQ over correcting and taking me low again within an hour or two. i am slowly lowering my Basal rates. I also today raised my correction factor number. I watched a video that another user turns control IQ off when hes correcting a low for this reason. My diabetes educator is more familiar with Medtronic and i have moved away from them. What would you suggest?
Thank you, I wish I had diabetes educator like you when I was diagnosed (43 years ago) life would be so much easier for me. "caveman brain" hehe perfect description !
Hi love the video i can totally relate. I usually eat 2 oreos double stuff and like 10 ritz crackers and wake up on the 300 ish. I would have this advice on my mind from now on. Question where you got that gorgeous pink case ? I would like to change the black one the tandem came with. Thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you you just saved me this will need me to write out the answers I thought I knew the answer to weren’t working and my over compensating with fast acting favorite carbs have been killing me I wonder as I stuff my face with fast and slow carbs and I’m trained to know the difference after 50 years of insulin dependent diabetes.. I’d know the difference. What you just said about the different irrational rational thinking that goes on during a low I would have figured it out by now. You saved me because I’m not to blame neither at]re any of my many doctors, pump specialists, dietitians no one is to blame. And I’d try only realizing as I rise out of my low that’s me they have been straight it’s because you didn’t take enough carbs at dinner. So that why your low at 3am this tangent flow may be slightly more complicated than what you explained just now but the closed cycle the reduced basal closer to way low. No ones ever been so clear to explain me to me but you. I don’t even know your name yet. But I want your help. I’d like you to be my dietitian/support an educator for coaching and calibrating my blood sugars. I’m tied of asking myself how I wake up alive after a nighttime of nightmarish lows Thank you it so strange but lately love been writing to do lists and what need to work on lists. Today it says “I want a person who will over haul my blood sugar regiment. I’ll be in contact witu soon. My 670g warranty ran out today. I’m in conversations with my Tandem representative along with my pump partner and insurance. Thankyou for me realize I was right there is no one to blame I just let my lows desire a way out. So I over compensated with any sugar sweet I could put my mind to. Even after all the training Sincrely with much love and gratitude Ben Gerardo PS I write you a short note tomorrow let me know where to signup
When my caveman survival brain wakes me up at 3 in the morning my go to is a bowl of cereal after sugar pills. My God. So hard to lose weight lol. Thanks for the video!
@@MrXsagat when setting your basal rates, remember that the insulin has a 4-5 hour effectiveness - so midnight basal will be most active between 3 and 5 am. adjust your basal needs (I have 7 patterns to match my meals and biorhythms), use the Sleep Mode, and adjust the Basal, the Correction, and the Carb Ratio. 58 years, you'd think I'd have mastered this crap already 😵💫😵💫
Usually for diabetics calories are not that important, If diabetic has low glucose level chicken breast (239 calories) will not help at all, will not increase glucose level, 1 teaspoon of sugar (16 calories, 4.2 carbohydrates) will help rise blood glucose level.
@@tomulek3 I have been diabetic for 46 years, that 100 calories should be carbohydrates something like a pack of crackers but I hope you try a 100 calories of sugar
@@robertconquest5497 Every carbohydrate has calories , not every calorie has carbohydrates. Different measurement. Hope you try 100 calorie pack of peperoni and see if it helps... I tried 100 calories of sugar it's about 6 teaspoons of sugar...btw crackers are bad hypo treatment, slow acting carbs, usually with fat, you should know that.

I tend to run low at night with control IQ Would it be safe to go on exercise mode at night?
Hi, did you try this? I just started with control iq and have a ton of lows at night even in sleep mode.
