  • The girls said: "Without love, it cannot be seen."
    Things you become able to see with love. Things you become unable to see because of love.
    By knowing love and believing in magic, the door to the Golden Land was opened.
    However, the tale of love ends here. What will be told from now on is only a tale of cruel tragedy and harsh truth.
    That is because the warped new game master wishes for dying screams of agony more than whispers of love....
    Break through the illusions, stain your hands with the blood of tragedy, and tear out the heart of the Golden Witch!! That is the path to the "answers" you seek.
    Due to the interference of bystanders, both the story and its points of view become ever more complex. When is reality? What is illusion? Which is production?
    By whose will is this story truly being repeated?
    The Witch's Illusion born of love will disperse at last. But what remains beyond it...?
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    On October 1986, the members of the wealthy Ushiromiya family and a number of their servants mysteriously died. When rumours began to circulate regarding who was responsible, it was said that the Golden Witch Beatrice magically caused the tragic events to occur.
    To reveal the truth behind what happened, the Witch of Miracles Bernkastel presents an alternate reality where Battler Ushiromiya does not come to Rokkenjima and the Golden Witch does not exist. Instead, the mystery child who was abandoned nineteen years ago has been designated the uncontested heir to the family as Lion Ushiromiya, whose existence holds the source of everything presented thus far.
    To solve the mystery, Bernkastel brings Willard H. Wright, the reluctant former Head Inquisitor of the SSVD redemption agency, to the island as a detective to solve the mystery of Beatrice, including the origin of the legend of the Golden Witch and her true identity.

    All that Witch talk with Maria and Will was really interesting. If Maria wasn't actually just a piece on the gameboard, but rather a true, bonafide witch on par with Voyagers and Creators, then just how powerful would she really be? While her distinctly creative mind at such an age would have helped her to become a grand witch, she's still naught human flesh. Still, merely a normal human who was born under the 'Holy Spirit', so in the end, even all that talk of potential power is washed down the drain.

      Adding to that, Maria saying that Beatrice was a different kind of witch also makes sense. Maria thinks of witches as a normal person would. Magic tricks, halloween, confetti and goth. Just like what a child would see in a picture book. But true, actual Witches in Umineko are completely and utterly different from that. Ironically, though Maria first thought that she was a greater witch than Beatrice, it was actually Beatrice who was a TRUE witch.
      Thinking about it even further, based on the Confession of the Golden Witch, Sayo was able to become Beatrice in the same way that Kinzo gained his so-called magical power, and that was because of something equivalently as powerful in the real world. It is mentioned in EP6 by Ange and Featherine that magic is basically anything that you can do on your own. Magic itself is simply an embellishment. Sayo was able to become Beatrice and become a witch capable of spawning infinite possibilities through the catbox because of the bomb and the gold.
      Maria had none of that, and as she said, she's simply a self-taught witch. And based on the logic of magic = stuff you can do on your own, then Maria would be nearly powerless. Because of course, as a child, the things you can do on your own is pretty limited. That's why Mariage Sorciere works. Maria had the mind of a powerful witch, akin to a Creator due to her wellspring of ideas, as she was the one who actually helped design most of the Fantasy characters, as shown in Confession, but she had none of the true power that other witches had. However, those ideas only became a 'reality' thanks to Beatrice/Sayo herself.

      It just goes to show that death and suicide puts an end to all hopes and dreams, which is the core of the story; to live on despite the trials and tribulations. If Maria hadn't died in Rokkenjima, who knows what kind of a gentle and talented and compassionate adult she would have grown up into?

    What is he music when Willard talks to Kinzo about Beatrice reborn? The one that sounds similar to Hope?
