      I really think it depends, I've seen live pop music where I felt like a backing track would've have been better audio experience. Also as a producer, pop music has some of the tightest production around. Sometimes it can be bland af, but there's definitely songs that I'm impressed by the production on.

      I love JC, I have heard maybe 95% of what you can find online made by him, but Im not a fan of the last tiny desk concert. I dont know, there is something lacking on it. Im gonna hear it again to be sure what it may be.

    • @SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji
      @SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Im back and now I remember what it is, 2 of his clones where singing the same voice in All i need, and I dont know... it was different to what he usually does, and the microphone sometimes recorded some stuff a little bit off (especially the hang drum, which sounded soooo far and some of its magic was lost). Im talking in contrast to all his other songs where he uses every oportunity to add an harmony and recording every sound as perfect as possible, so it was weird hearing him doing that. I think he should have added a 5th clone just singing. Anyway, of course I like it anyway, but its not on my playlist (while normal All I need its on the start always hehe)

    • @SergeantSkeleton
      @SergeantSkeleton 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sebastian Bueno
      Yeah I can see that, and it’s really a personal opinion I guess but I just love that he was able to add something different to his already complex music, and make it a little simpler without all the big harmonies. It sounded very live and I loved it

    • @duncanrobertson6472
      @duncanrobertson6472 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji I've always preferred Jacob's more stripped music and live performances, so that one was a hit for me. Makes sense you wouldn't like it as much if you're more into his big arrangements - we're just finding the magic in different places.

    • @SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji
      @SebaBuenoHaceMusiquitaJijiji 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duncanrobertson6472 Noo, thats not it. The arrangment that cautivated me to listen all his work was indeed live. Im not talking about all his life stuff. "All I Need" in Jimmy Fallon and ¿Kennel? was perfect, its about the musical choices in the last tiny desk (the first had some little issues also, but that may come because he was playing with more people).
      Im not someone to talk about musical choices, Im not even a noob, but I can compare different things using my taste as reference. My only comment is: why using 2 clones singing the same notes (sort of), and why the microhpones sounded so bad. In all his other live performances its weird to see him choosing doing that.

    I totally agree with you. I think the strong suit of this performance isn't so much the song writing or harmonic complexity, but the level of skill at which the basic writing is performed. The band is so tight.

    You rock, and we've been following you since we found you a couple years ago while out on the road with the national tour of Aladdin. My buddy (also a performer and pianist) intro'd us to you and between your comedic timing, musical talent, and seemingly genuine nature I am SO stoked for the growth. Just wanted to share some love and thank you for the entertainment and info.

    Thank you for that segment about pop music and why it's so, well, popular. I think what some people miss when they complain about it being too "simple", too lacking in "complexity" like you said, is that that's not really what a lot of pop music is going for - if that's what *you're* looking for in music personally, that's absolutely fine! And pop music can absolutely include more complex chord progressions and things like that, but that's usually not what the focus is on.
    Usually, it's more about the production, the layering, the vocal colour and techniques, the lyrics. Rap is extremely popular, but I'm not really gonna focus on what chords are used in the beat because, well, the focus is on the flow and the lyrics. The rhythm and poetry.
    But of course, everyone looks for different things in music, which is why so many different amazing genres exist!

    Charles couldn't agree more about bands shaking it up for a live show and giving custom intros/outros and improvised solos. Jamiroquai had some really awesome concerts in the 90s that incorporates musicians getting to flex a bit for the live show. Look up "Jamiroquai - Live in Tokyo, Ebisu 1995" if you wanna hear some funk. They have a ton of other good live bootlegs too.
