I lived on grapevine road in West linn. The police there are hyper policing. Especially near the jiffy lube and chevron, close to the on ramp to 205. I know exactly where this is. There's no reasonable way to navigate with only a right turn. It's a huge waste of time.

Stupid that they changed a 4 way stop into a right turn only. Chael, you're absolutely right! If I was the owner of the McDonald's or the gas station, I would be pissed! Directing traffic away from my business. The "right turn only" makes no sense. If they're going to change from a 4 way stop for "safety and traffic" purposes, then they should've put in one of those "roundabouts" that are popping up everywhere. Then traffic isn't forced away from the businesses. As far as your ticket, you have a valid argument. But I don't think it will work "because he's seeing the back of the sign." His argument and the court's argument will be that that's the officer's "beat" and he drives it all day long. He knows the speed limits, signs, etc. of his assigned area. Good luck though!! Judge should dismiss it just for the simple fact that you're Chael P!!!
Damn Chael you will definitely win this in court and you might even have a case to sue the officer and the city for loss of your valuable time. I mean 10min on TH-cam makes you money, 10min on ESPN, of Fox Sports, 10min in the Octagon, etc. Figure up the most valuable 10min of your life and say That's how much they owe you for the traffic stop alone, then say, how much longer you going to keep me here at court? Cause that's gonna determine how much I'll be charging the court system. You can pull it off Chael, Cause your the Man!! Show them they don't mess with the Great Chael P Sonnen!!

I'm pretty sure this won"t help at all but let's give it a shot. A curb by definition is a stone or concrete edging to a street or path. So the curb is where the concrete that was used to pave the street ends and a different topping like dirt or rocks begin. Just because that particular portion isn't beveled or raised doesn"t mean there isn't a curb there or that you can"t jump it. Now Chael I know what you're thinking. "How can my car Jump? When i was a child I used to jump rope & My car didn't leave the ground or jump anything." No shit captain literal, next time use the process of elimination when reading a definition. So if there is no "Raised" portion of the curb then you would eliminate that part and move to the edge of the street part. Jump implies you overstepped your boundary Jump= to move suddenly or involuntarily : start. I now know why you miscalculate everything inappropriately. Oops I don't want to confuse you... since you're probably thinking hmmmm.. Mrs Calculate? Well there's no female calculator, problems or numbers here. Ok so how do I say this "I now know why you missed that spinning backfist in the 2nd Anderson fight!"
Uncle Chaels ability to captivate an audience here is astounding. With that being said "Choose your battles wisely" and never lose the ability to simplify something. its truly precious.

I know that part very well, just like the stop in Gladstone and Oregon City. The West Linn officer will bring up at 4 way the " right of way" law- which either way determines the rules of the road.
Chael. You are the BOSS of West Linn. Nobody can tell you what you can or can not do in there. Do act accordingly. They are worms, you are the man in there!
Did he drive straight through a roundabout?
The sign says "Must Turn Right" indicating that no left turn is permitted. It didn't say "Right Turn Only" which could still be confused with no left turn being permitted. The sign also didn't say "Do Not Go Straight Must Turn Right", so how could you know that the sign implied that going straight isn't permitted?! Also, if there isn't a sign saying "ONE WAY EXIT ONLY" on the other side, then you have a much better chance of getting the citation dropped! Take pictures of the sign and the intersection to show the court irrefutable evidence of why you claim there is no curb to jump! #NotGuilty

I think a warning and education about what the sign means would've been more appropriate! Unless you have a record of disregard for traffic laws. Fight the ticket, but ask for clarification on the sign and definition of a "curb". That's a case worth making

My friend who often mispronounce’s names similar to Chael came over for Fury vs Usyk. He doesn’t know much about MMA at all. At some point in the night, he brought up the fact that he likes that guy “Chal” on TH-cam. Knowing what I know about Chael and names, I started laughing due to the outright irony of his statement. He couldn’t understand what I was laughing about and I didn’t even try to explain it. “Chal” lmao

Only one way to find out- challenge and see what happens- worst case you still have a ticket. Make sure to take pics with you to prove no curb, and sign not visible from Officer's perspective. Good luck😉
Cop might say he saw the back side of the sign? The curb thing ultimately wouldn't matter because theyre allowed to lie to you. The sign is the only thing that would matter.
Stop signs have a specific design unlike other signs. Even if seen from behind you must identify it.
Wait until the court date, then request a new court date, your allowed to do so, 9 times out of ten the cop don’t show and gets dismissed. When you change the date he has to come when you say which may interfere with his schedule or flat out forgets about it

Here is a tip for you. It's got me out of 2 running stop sign tickets. Signs have to be posted at very specific spots by the county. If a sign is 6 inches off from where it should be or there is any thing off with placement. Then it is not a legal sign. I'm sure uncle chael can beat any court case what are we talking about here anyways.

Was 16 with 4 people riding up front of my truck speeding got pulled over. The cop let me pass on the speeding but gave me a wreckless and said I hit a curb. I didn’t. And the officer that first stopped me with the supposed video of me hitting the curb left when three more officers came. Either way I took that and the no seatbelt tickets and was happy because they didn’t find the weed in the back seat. Paid the ticket cash and my grandparents to this day 15 years later never found out.
I can only say if it was me I'd just pay it. Courts are generally not in the habit of taking the side of the citizenry vs any member of the judicial system or law enforcement. You really just need to ask the question "who has better facts?" A judge's job is to interpret the law according to the facts. If you don't have good facts you don't have a shot in court no matter how right you might be objectively. If you're not disputing any facts and the officer was legally right to issue the ticket there's no case imo.
I think Chael is right about this one, the sign should be in field of view for the officer to interpret the sign posted.
I got pulled over for the same thing. But the sign said "All traffic must turn right" but i went straight, as i was in a town i was not familiar with and it was dark outside. The cop let me off with a warning. I should add, it was right in front of the police station, so it was obvious to him that i didnt purposely break the rules qnd ignore the sign

Turns out someone spun the sign 90degrees and the cop new where it was supposed to be and apparently so was I I showed the cop took pics got laughed at

It’s not hearsay and you are going to look like a fella standing on 3rd base wearing a catcher’s mitt if you try to take the position in court that it’s not reasonable for the officer to rely on his personal knowledge of the sign.

Don’t fight it, Chael. As a LE officer for over 20 years. He knew the sign was there, or he wouldn’t have stopped you. If it is in fact the money, the judge will charge you the citation, plus court costs. Just pay it and turn right.

First thing we need to talk about is whatever is green in front of you reflects off your glasses and is very annoying, please move or get rid of it. Second, absolutely you should fight it and call him out on it. Take a photo from where his point of view and have him tell you what it says as he sees it. Do the same with the intersection and have him point out what curb he was referring to when he said “you jumped a curb”.
But first get rid of that green thing in front of you. Thanks

The sign is not the law. The sign is a symbol of the law. The law was instituted by the officials in the local government. Particularly with traffic laws, the local government makes known in some public medium that a change in the particular traffic law is to take place. They make an effort to make the public aware. Many jurisdictions give a grace period to help the public become cognizant of the new expectations. The officers tasked with enforcement of the law receive specific instructions regarding the change and when any grace period - if there is one - has ended, and how the enforcement of that law is to be handled.
The officers charged with that duty are continually making observation of the condition of those symbols that instruct the public on the new law, to be certain violators are not doing so out of ignorance, but even if they do, they have still violated the law. If the sign were obstructed, the officer is empowered to use discretion and show grace with a warning. But if the officer knows it is not obstructed, ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
It might be a good reason to bring the issue to your local government to tell them that the sign does not clearly represent what the law expects, and if they agree, the signs can be changed, but that would not mean you had not violated the law.
There is an expectation of common understanding of the sign used. To disagree is healthy because maybe someone else had the same misinterpretation. But that would not free them from the obligation to know and obey the laws.
Sorry. It is an opportunity to learn and grow from the experience.

Under 27,000 population only one McDonald’s…the officer knows the signage. There’s a few similar signs like that in Winnipeg and they make no sense and I always turn the wrong way anyway as do most other people. But I don’t feel you have a case to fight it. It’s not entrapment because he didn’t stop you beforehand and it’s very likely almost everyone in your city is now aware of that dumb sign
