    Can’t express how much I appreciate you creating this video. I am a novice firework enthusiast and doing my second firework show. Your video was excellent and I really learned a lot. Safety is my #1 priority and your process will be thanked by my family and spectators. Thank you sir.

    One thing I can relate to is the humid location, I am in FL, the summer time here is off the charts for humidity. I use liquid nail on my firework cakes, two days later mine is still not fully setup, if you have the time plan 3-5 days in advance to glue down the cakes, let the glue setup! Great work here on the setup, its all about keeping everyone safe and enjoy the fireworks,
    great video !

      I feel your pain living here in Mississippi. I switched over to using the Ryobi hot glue gun. It cost a little more but its instant. I also use it to secure the wicks in cakes to provide some strain relief.

    so when the show is over, what do you use to get the cakes off the boards and dispose of them? do you get to reuse the boards the following year ?

    • @brandonc7450
      @brandonc7450  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Michael Hutchinson, thanks for watching! A hammer can be used to knock the cakes off the top layer of plywood boards (the thinner cheaper plywood). You can then flip the top layer plywood over and use the reverse side the next year. So I get 2 years of use out of the top layer of plywood and save the bottom plywood which is thicker and more expensive.

  • @feliace6485
    @feliace6485 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice job. Have a question? Have you considered doing a 3 lane show about 25' apart from each board to give the audience more of a show. It's two boards one on the left, the other on the right. same cakes and at the same sequence order of shooting and the middle board fill it with bigger cakes that way u get a layer show of effects with some sequence to make the show more constructive. Instead of putting a whatever show. Just a thought.. still great job there

I've set my boards following your suggestion paying attention to how they have to face and where the fuses are.... It's just the time delay thing.... Hoping for the best. Any advise would be great

    • @brandonc7450
      @brandonc7450  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Colton Jay, thanks for watching. Its a good idea to have different speeds of fuses on hand so you can time it the way you want to. It is also a good idea to know what cakes you have and how long they last. I keep an excel spreadsheet so I know how long each cake lasts, then I pick the fuse I need from there based on its distance from the last cake.

      In the show you see around the 7:10 mark sparks light other cakes due to them not being covered , looks cool but show should have went 5 minutes longer , the paper on top protects sparks from lightning it pre mature, fireworks make a mess , multiple cakes going off looks cool but plan it to happen,mortar tubes was covered for that reason but not the cakes , personally I’d get a cheap china firing system, a 4 que for like $30 that way you have more control of the pace , that’s nothing compared to $$ buying at Phantom lol

    Question, wouldn't it just be easy to screw 2x4 on the end's of the board's and attach heavy duty rope for easy carrying to the launch site or is that a bad idea.

    • @brandonc7450
      @brandonc7450  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marvelous Lighting, thanks for watching and your question! You could screw in 2x4's with rope to carry the boards if you would like. I didn't have much of a problem carrying the boards with another helper. I think the only reasons why I wouldn't do this is because the 2x4's would cause you to lose some surface area that pyrotechnic product could otherwise occupy. The 2x4's may add an extra layer of complexity as you would have to tighten these in addition to the four corner bolts securing the two layers of plywood together. The last reason is that the cakes do have weight to them and even with two layers of plywood, the boards will sag in the middle. I felt a bit safer having hands supporting from the bottom side especially while walking and a bouncing effect is transferred to the plywood sheets during transport. Thanks for watching and happy/safe launching!

    • @brandonc7450
      @brandonc7450  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I run double plywood bolted together, the top plywood sheet is thin cheap plywood. I usually brake off the spent cakes with a prybar and hammer, and then I can flip the cheap plywood over and use the reverse side the next year. So essentially, one sheet of cheap plywood (2'X4') is about $7.00 and can be used twice, so not a huge cost.

    • @Masterseven77
      @Masterseven77 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just screw the cakes down threw the corners at the very bottom. The very bottom is just clay. Then u can use same 2x4 1/2 plywood sheets till they burn up! I seen a guy say he has used same boards for 30 years. Btw the 1/2 plywood is way better than osb and lighter than 3/4 plywood. The screws are way cheaper than liquid nails, just get 1 1/8" drywall screws, you can reuse them after ur done. Also no caulking left all over ur board to clean up!

If not, research! Go look at what phantom has and make a list and look them up on youtube and watch videos of other people demo'ing them. I only use boards for my finales, couple boards some zippers and a 50 shotter. My opener and main body is mostly hand fired. Nice vid, not sure if you're aware but 2 years ago phantom and tnt tried to get fine mesh metals used in all consumer grade aerial fireworks banned by the cpsc. They only wanted us to be able to purchase shitty safe and sane which they would obviously have a monopoly on. Just wanted to give you a heads up on the type of company you're spending those pyro dollars on. Have a safe 4th.

    • @brandonc7450

      They can touch if you really want them to. I leave space so I can run fuse between if needed. Also, if one cakes blows out on the board, if there is space it is less likely it will knock other cakes off the board or knock their tubes over.

    Good luck being able to afford doubling up plywood like that this year😂. 1/4 inch plywood is good enough to glue down cakes with them being 2 foot by 4 foot. After show is over, kick the cakes off the boards, and you can reuse them the next year

The Gorilla Glue does mention that it is not recommended for several types of polymers (plastics) such as polyethylene, polypropylene, bitumen or similar materials. So as long as your cakes are not made out of plastic parts, I would say you are good to go with Gorilla Glue Construction Adhesive!

I did write up a paper on the legality of fireworks when I was in a law class for my BBA degree and I investigated into pollution from an environmental standpoint. From what I remember, very little to no additional heavy metals or other chemicals enter the immediate ground soil/water as most of the metals burn up during the report bursts (the bursts of colors in the air).
