    I had some minor success in the past with restoring chips which had their power rails shorted because of an earlier overvoltage. I think the clamping diodes got fused, and when these get burned out by additional stressing it can partially work again. I used a transistor curve tracer to stress the chips on the AC mode with current limiting, and quickly bumping the voltage up and down using the collector voltage knob (effectively creating voltage spikes), each time a little higher, all the while I'm paying close attention at the U/I curves.

    Very nice. I wish I could hold my hands still-enough to do this level of work.

      You can do it! Just need to practice and a microscope

    Fascinating to see and gave you the learning experience of using the kit for first time.

    Really enjoyed the video.
    You inspire people not to give up.
    You can't win them all but it was great to watch you working with the pads.

    a tiny amount of 2-part quick cure epoxy would help a lot to keep those replacement pads in their place. insulin syringes with their tiny hipodermic needle are great for measuring out tiny amounts of the 2-part epoxy.

    Are you using some type of robotic arm to stabilize your hand. Those are some crazy soldering skills.

    the wires are likely issue. on boot the device will train dram to get the best possible performance, if timing is outside a range because the wires are so long for example then it will fail to get memory access. the registers you were looking at are not in dram. it might have been easier to get a new dram chip, the characteristics of chip are important

    I followed this guy since the beginning. He is one of the best nowadays in restoring imposible data. I would like to learn more but the recovery machine cost lost of money.

    holy crap! this is soooo delecate. I'm always stunned by your level of precision. Skill is one thing, but precision is not something you can learn. I don't think anyway.

    Vor einigen Tagen habe ich Video gesehen, das wurde ein Laser benutzt, um die obersten Schichten vom Chip zu entfernen. Ist das nicht die bessere Methode? Ansonsten: super tolle Arbeit!

    If you aren't able to recover the data, do you still charge for the work and effort that was put into the attempted repair? Or does it all just go to waste?

    • @hddrecoveryservices
      @hddrecoveryservices  ปีที่แล้ว

      in most cases we do not charge for unsuccessful recovery. It does not go to waste, this video will earn $700-900 in couple of years :)

    It would be awesome to see it under a thermal camera. Sometimes Im able to remove shorts by getting a thermal image + xray and drilling into it. I've only tried this on sd cards when controller is being a bad boy, but perhaps here could be the light at the end of the tunnel!

      Maybe I will take it to x-ray shop next time I am there and see.

    Do you prefer your MG flux over something like Amtech?

    • @hddrecoveryservices
      @hddrecoveryservices  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't like amtech :) no disrespect to anyone using it and swears by it, to me it's not a good product. One of the main reasons it dries up too quickly and turns cloudy when it hardens

    • @ztechrepairs
      @ztechrepairs ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! I've never used the MG Flux. But I just ordered it a tube to give it a shot. I mean you do good work with it so I'm hoping my experience will be the same. And it's not that expensive so

    Can you reach out to Slim Potatohead here on TH-cam? He experienced a data loss on a portable hard drive, losing a large set of videos (past and in progress). It's his most recent video that he talks about it. I tried to add a link, but I think it got caught by a filter. He's Canadian too, on the eastern side as well. He's getting large quotes for the work from US-based companies.

      @@hddrecoveryservices awesome! I left a comment on his video too but I don’t know how to connect you two. He’s trying to find out if it’s worth $2700 CAD to a US company who says they can do it (who knows if they can). He’s asking viewers if they’d watch it if he was able to get it recovered, to see if it’s worth it.
