    Thanks for your interesting videos. A lot of knowledge being shared in every single one. Wanted to ask you if you have one explaining the wiring coming into that box that has the capacitor attached and how they are connected to the different devices . thanks

    I remember 2 different styles of bottle coolers for soft drink bottles. One was a "wet" cooler where all the bottles stood submerged in cold water. These types were inside stores where you'd take your purchase to the cash. The other type I remember was a vending machine, dry cold. The bottles would be loaded by the vending operator who would have the keys. The bottles would be suspended by their necks (there used to be "slots" on the neck, created by having thicker glass rings below the lip of the bottle) in steel channels. You would slide your choice of bottle to the release area. You'd put your change into the vending collector. It would allow you to then pull the bottle straight up and out, then it would lock again. The "wet" type succumbed to leak problems, combined with abuse by shop owners who didn't know enough to monitor the liquid level in the tub area. That and corrosion. The dry type was succeeded by vertical-stacking vending machine, which could hold far more capacity, and took up half the floor space.

    A pressure control can save a compressor. Good work, thank you for posting it.

    There for a moment I though you took a swig off the liquor . I just got a old RV camper with the old unavailable refrigeration gas should be fun switching it over . Its also has a orifice regulation something I will have to study up on . What would be good to flush out the old oil with ? Thanks again for real world AC education .

      +Chill Refrigeration,Heating & Air Conditioning LLC you can use standard, but it tends to be thin, this tape is called "Blue Monster" I got at my supply house.

    Thanks for sharing your videos!!! I really learn a lot from them.... I'm having an issue with one of our walk in coolers... Normal low side pressures(57-60) with high head(spikes up to 340) its a 404a unit that was worked on in November.... My initial though was an overcharge since it's been blazing hot down here in central Florida(100 degrees)... Any thoughts??? It runs fine for awhile then eventually trips the high side pressure switch.. Any information would be appreciated.... Keep up with the great videos!!!!

    • @JamesPettinato
      @JamesPettinato  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Armando Torres first wash the condenser, second, I had a Subway with a yr old walk in cooler, head pressure was high, the condenser fan was turning but slower than it should, I found the motor had a small rectanglular capacitor on it that was bad, I changed it and it worked good. If the head pressure keeps going up and down I would check the expansion valve, is the bulb clamped real tight, is the evap too small, that would cause the valve to hunt, is the evap coil clean,

    • @armandotorres626
      @armandotorres626 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cleaned the condenser coil today and checked fan capacitors... Its a dual fan condenser... One was reading out of range(2mfd 10+- reading 1.3), but it doesn't appear to be running any slower than the other... The evap didn't appear to be clogged with the naked eye... Probably due for a cleaning though... I'll check the sensing bulb and look into replacing that one capacitor tomorrow... Thank you so much for the response!!!

    If you don't change out the oil and just add to it, isn't there a chance there might be too much oil in the system or isn't that a problem? should you dump some out of the compressor?
    Thanks for the videos.

    • @JamesPettinato
      @JamesPettinato  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      amtpdb1 change the oil in the compressor, thats the best way, I've done that alot. But when its a small system you can just add 20%. you don't over fill that way.

    • @amtpdb1
      @amtpdb1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** If the system is full and you add 20% won't that be over full. I don't mean to be dense, I just don't understand.

    I have an old Lennox unit with a mfg date of 1979. Actually, the serial number has been torn away but I dated it before it disappeared. I don't know if the compressor is original... it looks great, but the repair guy told me if it goes, it will be impossible to find a replacement compressor. Does that sound true? Thank you.

      @JamesPettinato  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kcarviper I didn't think it would matter so today I did a compressor change out, see video, I put two micron gauges on , one on the vaccum pump and one on the hot gas discharge port, the vacuum pump one read 155 microns and the hot gas port read 355 microns, clearly double. You were right, Thank You for bringing that up.

    I have debated with myself on whether or not to include low and high pressure protection to new compressor installations. It will save a compressor and a lot of cost and inconvenience for the customer in the long run...... whether they realize it or not. I will tell them first, and I'm sure most of them will balk at the idea. I will inform them of the reasons, and if they still want to say no, then the next repair will more than pay for the preventative action that could have been taken. That and regular maintenance. Probably won't go for that either. The old saying: You cut your nose off and spite your face will probably be true on this.

    Jim Jim Jim, what can I say? First I would like to say I have watched quite a few more of your vidz and you seem like a very competent tradesman. However your fixation with leak lock and thread tape seems to once again get in the way of an otherwise very educational posting. Here we see you putting goop on the suction service valve inlet thread on the compressor, why, why, why? In this case the white nylon O ring act as both the seal and as a spring washer preventing the rather large nut from loosening. I have somewhat became a fan of your videos captivated by your methodical procedures. Its just a shame you can't take my constructive criticism and learn from it.

      +Ian Bartholomew Ian, your ranting about my use of leak lock is making me want to make a video dedicated to you, I'm going to get four tubes of leak lock and slather it on everything, it's going to be dripping everywhere :) peace out cub scout
