Battlefront 2, 2005. One of the best (and underrated) star wars games of the time, and all time! just the fact that you couldn't fly in and out of capital ships, steal the enemy fighters, as you blow things up inside, was simply amazing
That you can taget the enemy targeting you and call allies for help, that reminds me of Jedi starfighter back in the day, with the targeting system (Or revanche system as Jinkins called it) and wingman orders. Good times, was a favorite of mine.
The game definitely tell you all of this and more in the campaign! Especially when it comes to the Capital Ship systems. The "sweet spot" is explained to us in the prologue! Love the video as always!
Just as an FYI, with the 5th tip. If you don't know where the target is headed, you can look at the targeting computer to determine the direction of the craft relative to you. (I don't actually own the game, but I pay a lot of attention :P )
Lumpymoose00 honestly use the practice mode and story mode on easy and just keep trying. It’s a little finicky but once you figure it out you’ll get it. Also changing the button input may help a lot. Upping sensitivity for pitch and yaw is a must imo which helps with a faster drift
not sure if you knew this Andrew, but your reticle turns red when the shots will hit your target, so although there isn't an actual leading reticle, you do know if your shots are going to hit the target
The game tells you all of this in the campain, but it was nice to hear it all again, plus if you're shooting at someone and you're leading your shots in the right direction, the little aiming hud will turn red, that's when you're sure you'll hit your target
Happy to see this game already have community. It's not huge game but has so much potential and even though it's not that easy it's extremely rewarding.
Thing to note on the Reticle tip. They DO actually notify you when to lead your shot. Not with a leading reticle but colors. Your reticle won't turn red when you're aiming at an enemy, but when you are aiming to kill. If your reticle is red? That is a shot that WILL hit.
Bombastic, for leading shots they do have an indicator. Its your targeting icon for your ship. When out of range its grey with two level bars on either side of the dot. When in range it turns white and becomes 6 bars, all pointing at the dot. When your leading your target just right it turns red. So it is like BF2, but different.
Something worth noting about range and leading your shots, once you are in range your crosshair changes shape and if they are flying in a straight line you can lead your shot with precision by firing at the space where the reticle turns red ahead of their path.
If you keep aiming at fighter and keep missing then i would recommend turning both your pitch and yaw sensitivity downy to sound 35 percent on controller. It really helped me at least.
You should overcharge your shields by switching to max shield power and when they are charged up switch back. The overcharging will stay until depleted by enemy fire as extra protection on a run against enemies or capital ships. This is a throw back to X-Wing/Tie Fighter games.
My tip: Learn how to drift. It will absolutely save you ass from anyone tailing you and surprise those who don’t know how to do it. You can drift not only laterally (yaw), but also by pitching your Starcraft up/ down as well. Drifting can be done on any ship, not just interceptors (as long as you’re in engine mode).
I hit 50 hours yesterday and I still cant get enough of the game! If you use "combo" key binds to drift, then you need to press once to boost, give it half a second and then hold down your boost button while turning. And keep holding the boost button while you drift. You can also set your throttle to half right after you start drifting to make a sharper turn. I hope it makes sense and is helpful.
7:32, the stormtroopers next to the blast doors wave, but I also got one of the guys who sit below the floor level (and are sitting facing you) to wave back too.
I love your videos buddy, but I have to say, the only thing Squadrons doesn't tell you is #6 your bonus waving trick lol. Jumped straight into multiplayer? For those reading this, PLAY THE CAMPAIGN! The Campaign is pretty thorough with tips, and even regarding countermeasures, if you read the descriptions, it lets you know how to behave for each one. The cloud indeed should be used at close range, when flying straight. The other one has a 750m seeking range for any incoming missiles, so you can press it much sooner than all 4 arrows illuminating.
As someone who uses flight stick i gota say I highly recommend it, but aside from that The balance in this game may seem weird but damn to Imperials do damage. This game rocks for space combat way more interesting and fun than Elite Dangerous or OG Rouge Squadron 1-3.
You can actually deploy your flares after the 3rd red triangle turns red. Waiting till all of them turns red requires some skill and those who aren’t as skilled may still get hit. Hitting the flares on the 3rd triangle requires little to no skill and still will have you avoid the missile with the flares
Tip: ALWAYS overclock your shields (if your on the rebel side) first. The shields decay the slowest out of all three (the boost, overcharged weapons, and overcharged shields) and provide you with extra health. You're welcome :3
So unless you have minimum hud. The crosd hair will change when a target is in range. And it will turn red if where you're aiming can hit your target. Neat little tip

I've been streaming it over on my twitch and that's been alot of fun
I think there is actually a second NPC in the Imperial briefing room that waves back! One of the crew members to the right of the Stormtrooper (your left) will also wave I believe.
Good stuff, but the countermeasures should be used a little bit further out. If you allow the goliath warhead to get too close it won't matter if you counter it, as the explosion will still hit you.
If you play the campaign the game actually tells you about point 4, first mission as the a-wing to attack my target and I believe first mission as the y-wing to target who is targeting you. Also point 5 should mention that the reticule turning red indicates that your shots will most likely hit Lastly the game doesn’t actually tell you how to cut your engines to drift without looking at the control scheme. Game tells you how to look around but not cut your engines.
I still dont really get how or why to use roll! i mean in a fighter jet its obvious but in space? the roll actually doesnt matter at all isnt it? it just looks cooler depending on situation, or can you actually turn faster up/down than left/right? then it would make sense to allign the roll accordingly. So actuallay you can do everything with pitch and yaw, am i right?
I was playing and fired at the Bridge like a significant amount, and the Bridge basically caught on fire, but for some reasons the should generators survived.
The section on leading enemies is right, but also wrong. When you lead them correctly, your reticle will turn red. When its red, its a confirmed shot, and as long it stays red, your shots will always land.

Since this is an asymetrical game where playing one side or the other, I wonder what the breakdowns are of ease of targeting ships from each player ship up to attacking the capital ships. The Star Destroyer always felt like 1 big target while the Republic capital ships seemed like harder to hit but easier to fly around without crashing into it
I got one tip for bombers I know the proton torpedos does the most damage but in fleet battles to me it feels like a pain in the ass to have to switch targeting to capital ships and have to stay at the right distance to lock on it also take a bit to lock. So what I do is use the Goliath missiles I know there weaker but I find it easier to fly up to the shield generator and dumb fire the missile along with the beam laser to devastate hard points on capital ships.
You could have mentioned the setting that allows you to have more control over power management, being able to input smaller increments into the each system
You can bypass the sheilds of large enemy ships to directly damage them and avoid wasting time by taking out their sheild first if you notice they all have a light blue field around them thats the sheild you can fly into it without taking damage and then just unload dealing direct damage
One update that anyone would love to see would be customizable droids. The astromech that every ship has should have the option to customize it. The color and model of the droid. Please consider this.
