@@thorpeaaron1110 this is rather simplistic. USA forced Japan by freezing Japanese assets, embargoes, etc. USA was fully aware of what was going to happen in Pearl Harbor but they just let it happen to justify their entrance in the war.
@@stevebirman to be fair, the embargo is due to Japan invasion of Vietnam in 1940 to cut allies trading supply and weapon supply to China during the second Sino-Japanese war. They sure have no choice after that but to expand further to Southeast Asia and start the war. A short war supposedly... Isoroku Yamamoto planned for a short war and ask for peace with the US but as you know, bombing of Pearl Harbor is not a success for the Japanese as their key target (US Aircraft carrier) is not there. Do correct me if I'm wrong about this :)
