BOB the cat, star of best selling book and film A Street Cat Named Bob, died after being hit by a car, his heartbroken owner has revealed.
His ex-heroine addict owner, James Bowen, who wrote a best selling series about his cat who changed his life has opened up about learning the devastating news.

The last time James Bowen saw his beloved cat Bob was at 11pm last Saturday night in the kitchen of his Surrey home when he gave him dinner as usual.
Half an hour later when it was time for bed - the ginger tom usually slept on a blue fleecy blanket on top of his owner’s duvet - James couldn’t find him.

I didn’t go to bed that night, I was back and forth between the house and the street looking for him and calling for him with my fiancée Monika.’ Less than an hour later, the vet called. I couldn't stop crying when I found out Bob died. Bob was sent by God to help James rebuild his life then Bob went back to heaven. Bob could not talk but could show love and affection that was still strong.

Oh man that hurted..I thought he died from natural causes.. I didn't know he died that way, I really hope James is ok.. I know I would be devastated.. as a ex addict I know sensitive this could and can throw you back to your old habits.. he needs a lot of emotional support..

Oh my god.. literally, this is the first time today to find out that he died by car accident, soo sad poor soul may he rest in peace now sweet little angel Bob❤❤. What's sad is that i felt for him.... my three cats were hit by car one after another i find their bodies it was soo hard to watch...the world stopped for couple of minutes i couldn't believe it but yeah... 2020 is by far the worst ever year.
If the driver left and knew that he hit Bob and fled, karma will deal with the person in a Universally appropriate way

Aww. So sad to hear of Bob’s crossing. He brought such joy to all who knew him. Why was he allowed to still roam the streets? Hope they capture the despicable coward who hit the poor kitty and drove off without stopping to lend assistance.
When I heard about how Bob died, it brought me memory of when I was leaving my house to go work, I saw a day lying on the ground in alley with a brick next to him! I had no clue how, who did. I had to go back to tell my mum to do something as i never seen anything like that before! It is a shame that loads of animals who are killed are just not given a lovely send off

Our animals are like family, and sometimes better than family, I have had my share of animals over the years, Hell they are like your children and if something happens to them you don't get over it so easy but in the end you know you loved something or someone and they loved you to, they were placed in our lives for a reason... So sorry for your loss, the love of a cat and human is beyond any words that can explain the deepest heartbreak 💔. I have loved and lost 3 cats,and my last one was the hardest by far.I am still grieving and Thanksgiving was his 1 anniversary of my Busters sudden death.I have all three of my Cats cremated. They now sit on my dresser. I was able to adopt two rescue kittens two brothers that were bonded and could only be adopted together.I am so blessed to get to look after these precious creatures and have felt the true meaning of love.

I only recently learned of Bob and am so sad to learn he is in kitty heaven. My heart goes out to James, l can't imagine the grief he is feeling over Bob's loss. Two beautiful souls who found one another each saving the other. God saw James and heard his plea's for help. He called one of his Angels and said go to earth and see if you can save this soul. You will be a beautiful cat and will need help healing an injury. If he helps you, you will help him in return. A must-see movie, a true story.
