When people ask how Taylor got so big and so hyped…this is how. She was doing performances and covers like this at 20-ish. She was already touring with and leading her band and commanding the stage like a pro. Compared to the other young performers at the time she was really fascinating to me. People want to hate popular things but she has been putting in the hard work and crushing it for a long time.
Other folks “sing” but she uses her voice like a true musical instrument.
And her mic...she works it well!!
Keep in mind, this isn’t a song that was in her setlist that she honed in over an entire tour. She did different covers at every tour stop, playing music by artists from the area.
It is highly likely she worked this out on the tour bus on the way to this tour stop
FYI, This Speak Now tour, she did a different cover of a song from a local artist from each city she visited! So here at her Denver show, at the Pepsi Center, she sang How To Save A Life by The Fray, with one of the band members there in the front row!

she actually mentioned that she underwent extensive vocal training during this era so yeah her speak now vocals are terrific

No because "Drops Of Jupiter" has been one of my favorite comfort songs for so long, and when I found out back then at the time that she covered it, I was in tears because Taylor's my favorite artist lol it was such a delight to hear her cover this :)
This whole concert is fire but Dear John at this show is next level. To think she was only 21 and that she wrote every song on the album, with no co-writers, aged 19/20. This is why she's as big as she is.
I started watching you're channel js for funsies, not that I'm not having fun now. Then it turned to me watching every taylor swift reaction, then it turned to waiting religiously every thursday for the upload, then it turned too watching almost every other reaction too. Love you guys for real, definetly one of my comfort reactors. I can't explain it the reactions are just super fun, and insightful and genuine. Keep them up!!! I just saw Train on Aug. 31st with Reo Speedwagon, they sang this song to end the set. It was my uncle's favorite song when we saw them in 2009. I know he was with me in my heart and I sang extra loud for him ❤

I think this is a first for me here, I have NEVER even heard of this song, omg, so excited, ahahha, going in now! To be clear, NEVER knew she sang this ever, omg SHE IS THE BEST! Pretty sure this is the concert where she sang DEAR JOHN, and to this day, it's my favorite live performance of hers!! Thanks guys, you are the best! and ahahaha, one more edit, she likes to say that she is a songwriter who happens to sing, the writing is her passion!

It really does sound great. Plus this is still “younger” Taylor who hadn’t quite mastered her vocal skills perfectly yet. You can see how much she has been working on her craft to get from here to where she is now. This is her turning point of becoming great. She covered EMINEM “Lose Yourself” & UNCLE KRACKER “Smile”; phenomenal! It was during this same concert! She is having a BLAST doing it. “YO!” 😂

This was made for me (not really in any capacity but I’m going with it)… I have a long-running joke with my former-DJ and career-long radio voiceover artist dad about Train… he doesn’t love Train, and I am at a Pat Monaghan STAN.
Like okay, you’re going to give us this, but also “Meet Virginia,” and also “50 Ways to say Goodbye,” etc., et al.
That when he and TS collaborated we ended up with “babe” is… puzzling to me, but I think it may have been a case of a pair of people being good at the same thing and thus it’s just stagnant (but I still listen to it! I just wish it were… better 😅).
I think it was also the Speak Now tour, but she did a cover of Iris with Johnny Rzeznik, and that was wildly cool. I think it’s a bit of a window into her (sad) state of mind during much of this tour, given that (as the lore would tell us), “all too well” was improvised/developed during a warm-up for a show on this tour, so she was going through THAT and then singing Dear John?! Why. How.
Anyway it’s a great cover, love the commentary, and Pat himself shared a tidbit about Taylor once and it’s pretty funny in how basic it is (compared to their individual lyricism).

I had never heard or seen this cover before! Thanks for introducing me to it! I really wish she hadn't repeatedly said "Fall for" instead of "fall from" a shooting star -- one without a permanent scar is because it's a fall from a high place lol... but other than that she mostly seems like she knows the lyrics well and it's cool that she chose to do this one in front of this crowd. I always loved this song and vidded it myself for the same reasons i love and vid so many Taylor Swift songs - the really specific lyrics are what makes it so special. It's fun to learn and understand the words and sing along. I love knowing she appreciates this song. ;) i mean she messed up 12:52 and a couple other places but not much. :)
