Oh yes it did. There's a unbox and test of the new one coming soon. It's still in the postal wrapping. Lidl website and their supplier were really helpful.
I really appreciate this video and showing what's inside this tool. At that price (~12 USD) it seemed to be too good to be true. With a simple dimmer the "temperature control" lacks any precision besides the tip getting more or less hot/cool with a turn of the knob - and that is it! The markings on the knob in Celsius are misleading. Actual effective heat control would have an extra pair of wires to the iron's tip to a thermocouple to monitor its temperature and give feedback to the station's controller. It's still not a bad tool for the price. I would swap the broken iron for the new 25W that you have. In my experience, 25W without any power regulation tends to get too hot for electronics, and so you might appreciate that dimmer control.
I've often nuked electronics with my 40w iron , the replacement Parkside sent me mainly gets used on plastics, the base has a tendency to roll all over the place which is really annoying.
This year 2022 they still sell the model. so i guess they fixed the problem if it was common, i just got one 3 days ago and used it every after ive got it, works fine.
These really are bad, spend little bit more Antex or Weller, it'll perform as it should and it will last you years, in general all supermarket power tools are crap.
Mine lasted about 6-8 uses before snap crackle pop noises right after getting replacement tips for the none standard screw hole. Utter bastard. Verdict : it's a piece of shit they're like little bombs waiting to go off. Only get duped once. Price too good to be true.
This shit lasted me 6 months. I suggest you to take it apart and look at the iron slab they put in the main unit to give it weight. Ridiculous
You do know that iron had a 3 year warranty? Not anymore

Plot twist: the heating element comes out the other way (for real)
