I really wonder what makes people want to speak out loud at a comedy show but not at any other similar event? Maybe because there are not many other events that are similar in comparison i think. Possibly the biggest reason is "most" comedy shows are done where people are going to be intoxicated. Yes other events are done where people are drinking but the event is done differently. Like a music concert where people can scream or heckle all they want because they won't be heard. Or a magic show I would guess you wouldn't get a heckler because it is more about what you see rather than giving your opinion. I can only imagine you get hecklers and people that speak out because of opportunity. Yes, it is wrong regardless but it is a trigger for those that just can't keep their mouths shut lol. Comedians talk directly to the crowd and make occasional eye contact. They talk about everyday subjects that many in the crown find familiar. Now the crowd feels as though they have more of a personal connection with the comedian. As soon as the comedian brings up something that offends someone in the crowd "even though it was not directed at them" they take it personal and then speak out. Sad I know but I do think this is why it happens so much.
