Leon, thanks so much. As a pretty new Ax8 user these vids are incredibly helpful. Also, your vid on control switches was awesome.

Ever since they added the IIc++ I've that's been my go to amp, great for low gain blues to over the top heavy saturated tones. I've never messed with the presence of in the power amp time to give that a try, cheers.

The C++ is the king. If they released that single model in a pedal I'd buy one, I like it that much.

Great explanation, thanks a lot, Leon. I try all USA tones, on my strat IIC ++ sounds more balanced, but I like also IIC+ Bright/Dp and IIC+ Deep. First one IIC+Bright is very bright. Also Lead tones sound nice.

Thanks for sharing. I think I will apply this tweaking towards my Axe FX2 XL+. ✌️

informative video Leon. for high gain stuff I usually go with input drive: 8 and overdrive 8 and fat switch on. I dont use overdrive pedal because I feel it changes the character of markiv instead i may increase the input trim a little to 1.2. as you said it's useful for lead sections though. I use this amp sim to play Lamb of god songs. it's a great amp. here is lamb of god guitarists settings, one of their Live amp settings:
Mark Morton: lead gain 8-9 fat, treble 8, bass 2, mid 4, lead drive 8 pull bright
Willie Adler: lead gain 8-9 fat, treble 8, bass 3, mid 5, lead drive 8-9 pull bright
their graphic eq is a little different though. Mark's tone is brighter and Willie's tone is darker

The fat switch really is the hidden weapon!

Hey Leon, I just needed a metal tone a bit out of my normal comfort zone, so I grabbed one of yours from axe-change called. MK IV + FAT - That sounds awesome :D I could not find a video for it, so now your getting my virtual hi-five on this video instead - There might be a video where I use it.

I look forward to hearing that! The fat switch on the mark series amps really beefs them up

    Do you use the ''Saturation"?

I'm curious how applicable this is to the AFXIII and recent (Cygnus/v17) firmware.

great lesson !! thx for all the videos, very inspiring, i've been working on a solo tone with the factory Mark 11, i want to learn how to share it with you, wanna see if i can figure out out to use 2 cabs or split cabs, maybe someday i can make something cool for you, Thx again

      Do you use Axe edit?

    • @ronniecoffey9945
      @ronniecoffey9945 6 ปีที่แล้ว

@@LeonTodd apparently not very well, hahaha, but i'm trying to use it, haha, actually it's the LT Mark 4 Lead preset that i've got sounding pretty sweet, one day i will share it with you, maybe even learn how to post a video, anyways, Hey i finally got you Yngwie Trilogy working by adding a cab block, Can you import a IR into the cab block, maybe something cooler than a Factory cab ?? Thx again for sharing your LT Worship Cab block, thx again

Nice playing, but that sounds nothing like any Mark IV I've heard, They can get way more gain and low end, unless you're not going for that sound?

Hi Leon, great video :) can you pls tell me what guitar and cable do you use? I try to replicate this sound, tried an LP Custom with Suhr Aldrich pu, a PRS SE Tremonti Custom with EMG 57 and a PRS Navarro with HFS, but I'm far in terms of clarity and depth. My picking technique should be OK, as no issues observed in the past 15 years during studio work. My input gain pad is set to 18 dB on AX8, it is connected to an Audient id22's line input. Do you have any post processing or you have a clue why is it?

  • @Maldoro

are you going to add it to axe change?

  • @Cactustone

Subscribed! Great video! Thank you for discussing the Presence Shift! Never knew what it was all about until this video. Your settings translated very well to my USA Pre Green preset. I kept the Input and Overdrive much lower, but turned the Saturation on "Ideal" and trimmed it down to 3. Sounds much tighter in the bass now. Thank you!
I'm going to look through your videos to see if you've touched on the JCM800 #34. That's been a real tough one for me. Some days I love it, but some days I find it lacking. I know it's my settings. Also, on a completely different palatte, trying to nail the Dr Z Maz38. Don't know if you have any insight for that model?
At any rate, Bravo! Thanks for posting!

Ben McCartney thanks for the sub, glad you liked it. I've got a free Marshall preset pack you can download with a Brit 34 preset I use quite a lot. Getting the master to around 7 and adding some motor drive helps with that one.

Just an advice for you: search for a used Mark IV on eBay if you like that kind of sound! The Axe-FX costs an arm and a leg and you'll get the original instead of a sounding shit emulation.
