    I am a neebie to loom knitting. This was absolutely the most informative video that I've viewed so far. Your pace, tone, and way of presenting the information was very effective, and pleasant. The illustration of the garter stitch and the tip on measuring your square with the thread was very enlightening. I will look on the website and hopefully find tons more of your videos. I will be referring back to this video many more times in the future. Thanks!!!

    I bought a set of looms years ago with the hopes of making blankets and scarfs. Well after trying a few times it just wasn't happening so I put them all away in a drawer. A few days ago I stumbled on your channel and gave the worry worm a shot. OMG I'm loom kitting again. 1million thanks for making this so much easier for me.

    Excellent directions without bogging video down. Easy to write down what I needed! EXCELLENT tip about cutting yarn to project length & tying to loom. Makes you want to slap your forehead and wonder why you never thought of that. Just what you to know, I watch a lot of TH-cam and am grateful for the help that is provided but I have never felt compelled to comment before.

    Hi thankyou for this tutorial. I not iced you didn't say whether your last row should be knit or purl and it seemed Iended up on the left instead of right. Also a couple of times when I wanted to see what you were doing when you were knitting off that bit would be out of frame. I couldn't really follow the mechanism for adding the extra stitch when casting of either. Thank you though, I have learnt how to purl.

    I love your videos. This is how I make my dishcloths. The only thing that I changed is that I always purl to the left so I can hold the yarn with my left hand and hold the hook with my right. It is a lot quicker for me that way. Try it and see what you think. Merry Christmas. Love you!

    Very nice, Thank you for making and posting this. It was educational. My only complaint is that some of the more complicated stitches were off camera (either too high or too low). I was unable to see where you grabbed a bit of yarn to put in the 'extra' stitches while casting off.

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Elizabeth.. sorry about that - these were some of my first videos and I made some booboos. The extra stitch is a crochet single stitch just to add length so that the knitting wouldn't look shorter on the top when I cast-off. Hope that helps. denise

    This is by far my favorite video. I just started loom knitting in January. And this was the most useful video I found in the beginning. So, as a beginner, I found this video to be awesome! Now 3 months later, I'm still coming back to make sure I'm doing it right.
    I'd also like to add the number of rows it takes me. Using worsted weight (medium 4) yarn, it takes approximately 45 rows. Give or take a couple. Working on a new blanket, and it's helpful to know how many rows. (plus the counter helps me. If I stop during the project, I can look at what row I finished last and know if I need to knit or purl).
    Rambling...great video!

    would that exact pattern you show in the video work on thinner yarn? i want to use superwash wool, gauge: 23 stitches = 10 cm... also do you have a video showing how to knit/sew the squares together?? i want to use this pattern to make a patchwork blanket..
    ps. please excuse my english, im using google translate too translate all the knitting terms:P

    • @LoomaHat
      @LoomaHat  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ingerztyle No the pattern will not be exact your square would turn out thinner and smaller. You would have to knit what is call a swatch (a sample) for the exact formula to make an 8 inch square.

    I have watched tons of these videos but these are the easiest to follow. You do close ups which make it so easy to see what you are doing. I have crocheted for 20 years and tried regular knitting but found it frustrating. Loom knitting looks fun and a better way for someone that wants to knit but has crocheted for to long.

    You said you were asked to leave a 24 inch tail at the end when you were taking off the square. I want to make squares to practice different stitches, and then I'd eventually like to put them together to make an afghan or blanket. Do I need this extra long tail? Also, if I just want to make a square by itself (say, for a wash cloth), what do I do with the trail end of the yarn?

    I am so appreciative of this video as I have been trying too find online how to make the 8” squares for the blanket charity in Michigan. Denise I am able to catch everything the casting off with the crochet hook. The wool is dark and you go off camera and I can’t really figure it out. Have you done any recent videos that would have captured that a little better? I am at the end of my 8” square but I am afraid to try to do that which I am unsure of and destroy the square that I have already unravelled several times. 🤪Thank you !

    Heya, Denise! Looking for your expert advice on how to proceed, and I dot see a video here for my question yet (or my search terms are wrong, more likely!). I'm converting a nice Lopi pattern that is a simple flat panel with two sleeves attached, in today's modern style of cardigans. While it requires counting and marking (for which your videos have been simp,y PRICELESS) the biggest hurdle, for me, has been finding a simple, well-explained way in which to leave stitches unknotted so as to form a sleeve opening (for a sleeve also done on a round loom, yay!) The pattern tells me where to start the armhole and how many stitches long the opening should be, but I just can't figure out what it's called - when starting the armhole - or what I should do, and how to resume the stitches going across e hole again once the opening is as big as I need it. As always, thank you for your insightful info and I hope you can help, O Favoured Loom Knitting Guru!

    Is it possible to make these squares and attach as a throw pillow? Have you ever seen it done? If I'm using filler pillows I'm guessing the knitted square needs to be bigger. Or is there a better way to loom knit for a throw pillow? Thank you!

    Great video. But as a beginner with no experience as a knitter or crocheter, I am looking for a video that shows all procedures throughout. Sometimes in this video the loom and work accidently drifts outside of the frame. Plus the yarn is a little too dark for me to clearly see the stitches. Can you suggest a video for a rank beginner like me?
